KARR is in 2 episodes of Knight Rider and on the second season they have Goliath.
Karr should have been in the whole series
What they should have done with KARR is not to destroy it but find a way to deactivate it in that final scene. If they had done that, can you imagine the possibilities? KARR could have been reprogrammed to have been a duplicate or back up for KITT, or even a team of KITT cars. That would have been a lot of fun.
The Karr and Garthe Knights combo in season four is missing out on the program will be better to watch. 😢
KARR was just as surprised of KITT existing as KITT was to learn of KARR existing.
All this probably could've been avoided if they had just taken the tires off of KARR and left it sitting on blocks

Amazing how terrible the Knight Foundations security measure truly are. Even at the end of this episode when K.A.R.R. goes off the cliff do they attempt to retrieve him? Nope. He is then found in K.I.T.T. vs K.A.R.R. and AGAIN after he is seemingly destroyed at the end of that episode they leave his parts out there....only for the audience to see he survived again.
Proof that Wilton Knight really was the brains of the entire operation. Sadly, his mind degraded from his wasting disease and he forgot just how dangerous K.A.R.R. was.
One's final destruction may only be but temporary, according to TV logic. The first season of _Star Trek TNG_ killed off the Security Chief Tasha Yar, only to later bring her back in an alternative time lime, and has her evil twin sister.
We see what happens when nobody cleans up the mess, in video game logic. In _Portal 2_ the super-villain GlaDOS reassembles herself. Apparently "going to pieces" isn't necessarily the end?

This is a pretty good entrance for a villain, especially for one who is an evil version of the main character. You hear the car noise, you see the red oscillating light, and it's kept in shadow the entire time.

Do you take Garth for a complete fool? KARR would have turned against Garth. KARR was that unstable and unreliable.
And Garth's flawed personality was abrasive enough to eventually find some way to provoke KARR.
3:52 I love the sound of KARR's scanner. Why did they have to change it when he returned in "KITT vs. KARR" 2 years later? For some reason, they changed the sound to KITT's scanner, but with a tweak in the audio mix. I liked how they changed KARR's scanner from red to yellow in "KITT vs. KARR", but I wish they'd kept the sound used in this episode.
Agreed, the evil scanner noise sounds great, combined with the yellow scanner lights would have great.

Actually in the book, they did mention that some circuits from KARR were indeed placed into KITT, cause of cost or Production problems? I believe it was some of his reasoning circuits, which is why he seems pretty naive in the show.

I think it sounds better in KITT vs KARR.
KARR's scanner in reality, likely wouldn't make any sound at all. It merely sounds menacing due to TV exaggeration or TV logic, most people did not watch TV with their eyes glued to the TV screen, people often missed various episodes, and so the stories are written to be easy to follow, in case somebody just switched the channels or returned from the bathroom.

But in TV world it has a specific sound which is the "reality" in the show. They didn't make it menacing so the show was easy to follow, they made it menacing because KARR was evil.

So where are the KITT scanners? I almost never see anything cool like that. Just ugly stupid over-priced copycat non-innovative sports-cars with no rear doors, flashy rims, or pointless lights underneath the car or even noisy motorcycle. Did nobody watch _Knight Rider_ or did they forget what a cool TV show that it was?
They made it menacing so as to show how evil people seem to be always thinking evil thoughts. I hear the clips on talk radio of evil educated idiot DemocRAT politicians constantly lying and saying incredibly stupid things. Why aren't they more often called out on the stupid things that they say, and why aren't they prosecuted and removed from office and publicly disgraced?
Sad to say, so many people think that the TV and social media world are reality. A friend pointed out to me the other day, quick search of social media news headlines, no mention at all of the DemocRAT stolen election, so to most people, such news is not real. What a stupid evil world we must somehow endure day after corrupt day.
We have new studies coming out of Denmark and Wuhan, proving that face masks do not work at all, and yet evil leftist politicians have gone insane with their evil mask-shaming cult religion, which the first amendment says that Congress shall not establish a religion, which these days most people interpret to mean "government" in general. By now, the science says that many people wearing the ugly ineffective face masks likely have natural immunity, and they appear healthy anyway, and so there is no medical reason for them to wear masks especially if they do not want to. "Follow the science" the left screams, yet they do not follow it at all. When will they pay for their sadism and their crimes and their imposition of false religion?

So the story is they orginally designed KARR but realized their mistake put him in storage at laboratory 3 forgot about it then built KITT. I wish they somehow would have kept the red scanner on KARR and brought back Garth for one final showdown

That was actually footage from the 1977 horror film The Car and it was a 1971 Lincoln Continental Mark III. The movie was about an unmanned satanic car that drove itself and killed people. Pretty appropriate in some way that they used that footage.

KARR scanning sounded awesome.
Wow this show was so bad but yet we loved it. In that clip alone we have robbers turning on the lights inside the place they are robbing. We have an electrical box that sparks for no reason. A car presumably worth millions and labelled as danger locked up with a hardware store padlock, despite having the ability to create a car with a supercomputer and impervious outer shell. Said car then has telekinetic powers that can open and close doors. And the whole scene taking place at 2:30 AM because that is the time anyone would choose to go clean out the place. What exactly was he suppose to do with all that equipment inside? Put it in the Trans Am? You could have actually written the scene as a silent alarm goes off and Devin gets Michael out of bed to investigate. That is at least a bit more plausible.

This was a good episode, but KITT vs KARR had "KARR" as a much more sinister character. In this one he sort of needed to be told certain obvious things. In KITT vs KARR he independently and naturally plotted some pretty horrifying acts.
It's true, in the second episode it made me angry to see how KARR tried to suffocate that blonde girl. 😡

Sad to say, I think they lost the magic formula, and that TV has gone stupid, thus there may never be another successful _Knight Rider._ Sad that they only managed to produce 4 seasons, while stupid TV shows such as _Friends_ produced 10 seasons.
David hasselhoff had a NY autdition and was told about the show knight rider he told his dad about the TV series and his dad said...i think you should go to NY ...of course the Hoff didn't listen..the rest is history

the voice actors who played KARR also played Optimus and Starscream on Transformers Peter Cullen and Paul Frees.
Peter Cullen also reprises this role in the late 2000s Knight Rider reboot. I never watched any of those, though. KITT was a Mustang, booooo!
Starscream is Chris Latta
Paul Frees didn't do Starscream's voice but he did do a lot of voice acting for Disney films & other cartoons throughout his life. He has a very recognizable voice. There were so many things I watched where I had a feeling it was him only to confirm later on imdb after looking it up.

You'll find more clothing errors in the episode 'The Nineteenth Hole'. I'm guessing either the shoot occurred over multiple days or David got sweaty during shooting and just changed clothes and they hoped no one would notice.
KARR was never truly explained. It s like Okay lets do an episode with a car that looks like KITT but does bad things!
KARR was explained enough. Because of bad programming KARR had a sense of self-preservation with no regard for human life. And he could not be re-programmed. So it was decided KARR was too dangerous to be used as KITT ultimately was, a tool for justice.

When I saw KARR's introduction for the first time, I was spooked. KARR would make for a perfect horror movie villain. Since he was reactivated at night, he could look like a vehicle just sitting there and as soon as his scanner turns on, I think people would run from him and maybe KARR would trap them. That's just my opinion because KARR's introduction has many horror movie vibes.

As the technicians who worked in the laboratory were fully aware of the danger that KARR represented, it seems strange enough and even dangerous that it did not destroy it after having put it out of service !
KARR was to be dismantled, but with saving Michael Long and creating KITT all at once it was out of sight, out of mind. Plus Devon believed Wilton Knight had that done and it was over with.

William Sanderson played Larry on "Newhart". He also had roles on TV shows "Deadwood" (2004-2006, 2019) and "True Blood" (2008-2010, 2012). William Sanderson is also best known for playing J.F. Sebastian in the awesome 1982 sci-fi film "Blade Runner".

For the longest time I got a bit of a Hasselhoff vibe from Dean and then that episode Changing Channels happened lol. I think Jensen Ackles as a Knight Rider driver would have worked well as long as the rest of the show was well done. Given how Supernatural had the '67 Impala, I could easily have seen a KR show with Ackles going back to the '82-'91 model Trans Am as its choice of car for KITT. And the fans would love it.
