A woman who only showed up for a few minutes in "Doubt" and completely OWNED a scene that MERYL STREEP was in. Only a few people alive can do that. Viola Davis? She crushed it. 100% deserved that Oscar, she was robbed
I know you mean it as a praise and it was a great show of her talent at that time but right now Viola is so much bigger than just that association. She should be described as the most nominated african american actress at the oscars. The first african american actress to win emmy in a lead role. The only african american actress to win the triple crown of the acting. She's now so much more than that one association with Meryl Streep which landed her her first oscar nom
@Muhammad Ahmed OH. No, I did not mean it that way at all. She's incredible. That movie was my first exposure to Viola Davis and I've been an adoring fan ever since. I'd compare her scene in Doubt to Alec Baldwin's scene in Glengarry Glenn Ross, it was so powerful. Something that just defines the rest of the movie.
@@LSFD I don't know her deeply, but my brother served her at a restaurant with her family in NYC once and he said she was completely gracious, approachable, and kind the whole time, even thanked the chef and tipped well. That's good enough for me.
I know I’m not alone, but good grief I really really like her! We are so lucky to live in a time when we can witness her talent, strength, and good nature.💜
Let me tell you… ANYONE who has listened to the audiobook of FINDING ME knows that Viola Davis absolutely BROUGHT HER A GAME. Wow wow wow. It was a #1 bestseller for weeks and in the top 10 for 6 months. SHE DESERVES!!!
The Woman King has become my favorite movie. I saw it twice at the theater and I can't count how many times since I've had the Blu ray. Every time I see it I get a different feeling. Viola Davis is a National Treasure and I love her and the amazing contribution she has made to cinematic history.
I love her so much, she's so wise and beautiful. She does deserve her EGOT. The superstitions are so true in black families. The woman King was fantastic, like the showing of burning a slave block and seeing dark black women representing and leading a important story was amazing.
The Woman King was the best movie Ive seen all year. I collect and watch movies relentlessly, Viola Davis is the QUEEN of Actresses. Thank you so much for all the great entertainment ,well done. I feel fortunate to witness your success 💙💙💙💜💜💜
I agree I think some would. I think she is just as great as Meryl Streep and maybe even better but I wouldn’t call her “The Australian Meryl Streep” because that’s degrading.
Viola's the best! She played roles from a junkie to a Warrior!Meryl was given dominant roles while Viola was forced to event her own roles or just play maids!
Viola Davis:" I'm so good" Kimmel: "Some say great" Viola Davis: "...I'm good 😅" She is so humble, but isn't afraid to acknowledge how beyond skilled and talented she is. Woman King had my friend and I on the edge of our seat! Shes such a beautiful talented Queen!!👑
Hihihi her laughing is contagious. She is a great woman and talented actress. Her story about looking the mirror at night haha it killed me. I had that one in my childhood. LOL
Hahaha! Mrs. Viola hit home with those superstitions! It’s not only a black raising thing, it’s a Southern raising thing! You forgot, no sweeping at night so you don’t sweep the luck out of the house and don’t split poles when walking with someone! 😂
Not sweeping at night is an African superstition. Tells you how far that goes. There are others looking that. Sweeping the feet for different reasons. Jumping over someone’s feet etc.
I used to have a dentist who was a hypnotist .One time he hypnotized me and pulled 2 wisdom teeth with no other anesthetic . I felt no pain I could feel everything happening , roots coming away and all , but NO PAIN !!! Firm believer in hypnotism ever since !!!
Viola is such a good actress and has a wonderful personality. Just love love Cate Blanchett as she’s so incredibly talented, beautiful, intelligent, articulate yet also extremely funny and down to earth. I hope she wins another Oscar this year, she deserves it as she’s brilliant in Tar!
Viola is terrific, so great and talented. Cate Blanchett is of course one of the greatest actors ever. But in the terms of beautiful, funny and down to earth I think different. She looks so unnatural due to all the stuff she had done. She overdraws every time and is very fake in speeches or interviews.
@@Marc-13 you couldn’t be more incorrect as Cate Blanchett is one of the few actresses that hasn’t had plastic surgery, she’s always been naturally beautiful and she still is but just older, she’s aging gracefully. Plus you obviously don’t know much about Cate as she has a typical sarcastic Aussie sense of humour, she’s very witty. Just watch any interviews with her and Sandra Bullock or Melissa McCarthy as she’s hilarious. And Cate’s famous for being down to earth despite her incredible talent, she doesn’t take herself too seriously at all.
@@bellabana What make you sure about that she hadn't plastic surgery? I see a complete different looking nose since 2018. It is way shorter, smaller and looks different. As well she uses botox. Of course she has wrinkles but I think she had it recently, because September she had more wrinkles especially when she frowns. Now this isn't the case.
Yeah she doesn’t like that the best acting roles for black actresses are like in the past/civil rights/slave movies where she has to play maids and things. Just wants better contemporary roles in life where she’s basically playing roles that are colorblind
She's beyond awesome as an actress, a woman, a black woman, & a human being!
I concur with your sentiment 100%♡
Australia.

Viola simply crushes me when she cries.
Fences, Ma Rainey and Woman King.

When she laughs, 😮 What a voice! 😍
Will Smith laugh.
It's all natural you can't fake a laugh like that.
Met her in person years ago. She is cool, down to earth, and just a wonderful lady. Cheers:)

But you know it’s all lies? Don’t you dullard ?
I agree !She got cheated out an Oscar for W.K.She wasn't even nominated. Racism & sexes completely blocked the entire production!
The Woman King is an amazing movie. My mom and I saw it multiple times in theater it was incredibly cathartic.
The fact that I grew up on these same superstitions…she’s so genuine and authentic! 😂🙌🏾
That umbrella was soooo serious…

She just won the Grammy for her audiobook. Congrats.

Tar is a much more interesting movie and Cate Blanchett's performance is vastly superior to Viola's.
@John Smith This is such a lazy argument. Try again.
@John Smith I know why you are here and what kind of discussion you want to drag me into. No way I'm falling into that trap. 😆
@user-nd7pj4et8k you'd pick black over white every time I bet.

Viola Davis, tells the best stories. I enjoy watching her interviews. She makes her stories entertaining.

Viola Davis being described as the 'black Meryl Streep' is an insult. Nobody would call Cate Blanchett 'the Australian Meryl Streep' -- would they?
