Hey Adam found your channel while researching the kodiac. We just picked up a 289bhsl. Looks like I have a bunch of videos to catch up on!! Appreciate your content.
I have a complete machine shop in my RV ( Sherline lathe and mill + hitch receiver vice) all fits in a storage locker Go for it! Cheers and enjoy your travels
Nice! The wife and I RV'd for 18 months straight before we found our retirement home in SE Arizona. I like the basket and vise idea. I bought a 4' aluminum folding bench at Lowe's and mounted a vise on one end, and a bench grinder on the other. It was my portable shop while we travelled. Remember; cooking bacon on the outside stove will attract the bears. Don't tell Abby....
Welcome to the wonderful world of RV'ing. With your mechanical & electrical experience, you'll do just fine. The huge majority of RVers are really nice people. My wife and I have been RVing for many years and have really enjoyed our travels and still do. Safe travels to you and Abby !
Guys, I think you ought to name your camper "The Butterfly". It evokes thoughts of freedom and travel. And you need a big logo on the back, of a Monarch lathe sporting butterfly wings (get it....Monarch Butterflies) soaring in the air.
I worked from home for about 8 years and then my company decided to pull everybody in. My house is actually 150 miles from my work. We purchased an RV that I stay in during the week. It will sleep 8 and my sons family came for a visit. There were 8 of us and we slept comfortably without any issues. LOVE IT.
We are rv’ ers and have been watching some of your Florida adventures . We just got back from camping in Ft Walton. My wife made a comment about how she thought you should get a camper and surprise, you got one ! We really like your trailer , we wish you many happy travels and congratulations on your wedding..... Carl and Carla from TN
Congrats Adam and Abby you will love it. It's really nice to have a change of scenery sometimes. We love taking ours out, especially when we find a cool place. Life is short and I think it's a great way to get out and have some fun.
My wife and I were watching this, and she said we have the same grey bathroom storage tubs. Everything that stays in the outside storage is separated in totes and labeled. Also, get yourself some Andersen camper levelers. They are a lifesaver for leveling side to side. A wifi repeater, most campgrounds have wifi, but the signal is not the greatest. Repeater is almost a must for us. There are many brands but we have had great service out of Jefa Tech.
Hey Adam I had a pop up for the same reasons you were going to get one. and it was all self contained with ac. but the thought of some one just pulling back the Velcro and letting there self in got to me. We got a 26 footer also and never looked back. Enjoy your camping.
Adam & Abby, that's awesome. Your Kodiak is VERY VERY similar almost Identical to our Avenger 27RBS that we bought last summer. We named our truck "Jack" and the camper is "Diane". You'll need the blower to clean off the top of your slideout before you retract it. Leaves, acorns, sticks, etc can damage the seals. Also, with full hookups like you have here, don't leave your grey and black tank valves open... they stay closed until you need to dump the tank. Then dump the tank as if you were at the dump station. Don't want to create the pyramid of poo!!
That is what a wife is for... they always make us husbands go one (or a lot) nicer. Just gotta love it. Cheers to you both and may God bless you with many happy years.
"Of course there aren't any snakes in the river Abby." Says quietly to himself, "The alligators eat them all." 😂 Nice setup, I am sure you will have some great fun with it.
Nice camper. You two make a great couple. Have fun! Also, they warned me when I bought my popup not to cook bacon inside. Smell gets in all the fabrics. YMMV.
Very elegant camper ! The Kodak is very well thought out and it is apparent why it is so popular. Great choice. I’m looking forward to your travel videos. The Wilson vise addition will make you a very popular couple in your travels, since as you said, no one else will have one in the parks. I’ll bet the vise will bring over the needy who will gladly pay in beer 🤔
Welcome to the RV life! Great looking trailer. Nice layout and the recliners are awesome. Do some research on best practice on using your holding tanks like keeping the black tank valve closed until half full or more and then empty it.
I did some research while there about the tanks but they techs at the dealership spent a couple hours with me going over everything and how to use it all properly.
Gosh this can be great for these two guys who never leave work to watch others travel this great country, thank you for sharing this video series with us all while you travel the open rods of America. Lance & Patrick.
hey, its only money.. you cant buy happiness and amazing memories, it doesnt matter were you go, sometimes a change of scenery from a long week of work is all you need. great camper, have fun on your adventures
I owned a 27 ft ultra light 2015 Kodiak with opposing slides and it was a cool trailer. Kodiak are built well and you shouldn’t have any surprises with the slide.
Congrats on the new camper - named the Abdiak or Kobom (short for Abom and Kodiak) You wanted a name for the camper, well there you go, Beautiful camper and I believe you will really enjoy your adventures in it. Later
Not to discourage anyone from buying Kodiak. I have a 2016 224 rb. Here is the list of repairs I have had to make. Slide seals leaking first rain storm. new water pump. new awning strip light, part of it burnt out. replacement of the gray water line from the tank to the dump valve, the round disk from drilling the tank was in the line. this year.... new heater control board, 2 new batteries, junk batteries from the dealer. We do enjoy our camper.
Adam weld on another set of jacks just in front of the wheels. It will help take the bounce out of the frame and make side to side leveling a little easier .
It's great to see you two happy like that. Family is everything. I know it's not appropriate to comment, but it seems to me that Abby lost a good amount of weight. Good job.
I have a good tip , each time you are away from the camper for a few hours turn the water and hot water heater off ,if not it could flood if a water line was to bust.
It's funny how different areas call things differently. Where I'm from, you have a travel trailer. A camper is a unit you put in the back of your pickup truck. Nice unit you bought.
Well done, we have a 20 ft caravan for years, you won't regret the decision. A 26ft caravan would have trouble getting into some of the camping grounds in Australia though as our are generally set up for smaller vans.
I am so happy for you both, my gosh. Great video, I almost didn't want it to end. Reminds me that I need to take a vacation and get away from things for a bit. I keep saying that but, here I am lol. Thanks Adam and Abby!!!
@@AbomAdventures not sure if this is adam or abby....but Adam's channel has really helped my measuring and overall knowledge and I just want to show my gratitude....
Adam, Thank you for re-enforcing my opinion of Camping World! Whoa! $40 : night! That (comparatively) IS expensive! Many State Parks are only in the neighborhood of $15 ~$25 per night. Ha! Love the name...Lots of possibilities there...Peachy Keen Praline! Time for ice cream!!! Ken
Huge congrats on the camper!! Also great find on those storage bins the more organized you can get the better in those campers. Campers open up a ton of new adventure potential no doubt, used to spend about 3 months out of the year in mine (before the offspring started school 5-6 years ago). If/when you head out to the southwest again I hope you put on a camping get together! Get yourself another battery too (golf cart batteries 6v In series) (and a genny if you don’t have one) makes dry camping real nice and opens up a whole new world of camping outside of parks.
Nice camper. I love the room inside that it gives you with the slide out. We have a 27 ft. 2007 Starcraft. On the black and gray water tanks, Something we did was to save most of the gray water, unless the tank gets full and then you can let some of it out, and use it to wash out the sewer hose after you dump the black water tank at the end of your trip. Worked well for us. Dave
You got super model, Nice trailer. Thanks for sharing your trailer My wife and I just purchased a 223RBSL Dutchmen Kodiak Ultra Lite, it is light enough for my GMC Sierra 1500 to pull. Only one thing , and this is on All of them, Making the Bed is not the easiest thing to do, There is no room for a person to pull the Bed sheet down under the mattress.
Remind Abby that someone has to empty anything you leave in the trailer septic system, using the provided amenities of a park removes the nastiness of that
Very nice camper. I really like the layout/design. Good decision on the large bath room. Once of the worse toilet experiences of my life was in a super small camper bathroom.
G’day Abom and Abby what a a no bull in-depth review inside and out, it is really a beautiful home away from home and I love the lay out, your right about the toilet if your a bit bigger than most like me and you it’s nice to have the space where as you said a lot of RV’s full short and it’s either the kitchen or bathroom area this has the best size I’ve seen other than a bus conversion. Well done and very good luck and safe travelling kind regards John Kinnane Tasmania Australia
Should make some roll out trays for that storage that goes all the way across in the front, so you can just roll stuff in and out. Would make it a more useful storage area. Maybe you can get the back panel done as a wrap. that way you don't have permanent glue on it for future resale value.. Can still put stickers on the wrap, but it all could peel off later if you want to.
Nice coach, y’all will really enjoy it, my suggestion is get you a set of RoadMaster Active Suspension for your truck. The system is really inexpensive for what you get and the improvement on towing and normal driving is amazing! I have a 2018 F150 4x4 and when towing my HydraSport 2400CC , 6500lbs fully loaded, my truck would squat and seem light in the front end, now it tows like a dream! You won’t regret it! Have fun with your new adventures.........

Glad you found us. Plenty of content from the last few years of traveling with our Kodiak 👍🏻
You guys did the right thing-get the best you possibly can and go live life to the fullest. God knows it’s far too short. Have fun!

That was nice to watch. You guys look so happy together!
Adam, "it's got everything Abby likes"
Everyone else, "Happy wife, happy life!"

Hahahaha, a very familiar story! You go for a ⛺️ and end up with a villa! Enjoy!
No snakes in the river, the aligators ate them all
Surely the logo should be Abom and Abby's adventures ;)
You two are hilarious and awesome together. ;-) Have fun on your travels!

Love the Kodiak and the presentation. Wish you a lot of nice trips. Best wishes from Jan in Norway: The name should be "Rumble"

Great, I hope that you enjoy. I started out with a tent, went to a pop-up, quickly up-graded to a trailer and have had trailers for 40 years. Love it.

Adam you got yourself a real keeper there! Abby is so sweet!
Install (2) non-swiveling, roller casters under the rear bumper to prevent scraping the rear when transitioning steep inclines @ gas stations, etc
hey, its only money.. you cant buy happiness and amazing memories, it doesnt matter were you go, sometimes a change of scenery from a long week of work is all you need. great camper, have fun on your adventures
Nice camper, glad you went local and got a nice one. We just bought our first one and it is a blast!
Gorgeous camper! My father has a 24' over here in the UK and this thing wipes the floor with it!
Enjoy it guys you deserve it
Have fun with that guys
Super nice ! I can see the logo on the back and Abom Adventures swooping between the graphics on the sides-------HAPPY CAMPING !

sorry I posted I wanted to see the inside of your trailer, and I found this post. It is very nice, plenty of room for a couple.
I think the back pull out needs a mini lathe next to the Reed vice.
Vice on the bumper should be a top priority! :)
