- Having problems with your lock cylinder? This is a common issue, especially in older buildings around 25 years old. According to manufacturers, the lifespan of a lock cylinder is about 50,000 locking cycles. That means 50,000 times opening and 50,000 times closing. So, it largely depends on how often a lock cylinder is used.
In this video, I'll show you the first steps to take if you notice your lock cylinder is not working properly. Use a lock cylinder cleaner, important: do not use WD 40 or other lubricants. Spray it into the lock cylinder. With a clean cloth, you can remove the dirt from the cylinder and the key.
