My GameStop had 300+ people. A guy cosplayed as link playing the violin and free pizza.
We had 150 or so. Wrapped around the building. It was a blast.
So much love for Zelda it's just a master piece series every game i have played has been such a marvelous adventure
I thought my area was dead but there was more or less than 50 peeps woo!
Unless you were in NY that sounds like an exaggeration.
Mine had about 100 people and only half of them had deodorant I'd guess.
Cherish these moments. I can see in the not too distant future everything being digital and game stores going the way of blockbuster.

I remember midnight release of Gears of War 2 for Best Buy. I was given a Gears of War hat.
Went to my local Gamestop for the midnight release. It was packed. Not a parking spot insight. Had to park at Lowes & walk. Glad Gamestop did a midnight launch brought me back to the good ol day's of pre-ordering videogames.

Bro this is awesome. I love how supportive you were of other people getting their own copies. And you recording this reminded me of a PS2 launch day video I saw from the year 2000. I was born in 1997 so I never got to experience the PS2 launch day, so watching the video of it was so surreal. You recording this means in the future, someone born in 2020 or something can watch this in the same way. Or even, people just wanting to look back for nostalgia's sake.
This footage 15 years from now will be nostalgia & a classic midnight pick up for the wonderful Zelda game 🔥✊🏾keep it up mr wright💯

My local GameStop had a midnight release and there were roughly between 40-50 people in line when we started to get our copies. It was a relatively intimate occasion.
Even in my smaller town, there was a long line of people waiting - none of us had seen lines like this in years. I got the game plus the plaque and an amiibo, never saw the collector's edition. Been enjoying the game so far! BoTW is one of my fav games and this seems on track to join that list.

Maaaan, I’m almost 38 years old, and I had NO idea GameStop is still doing midnight releases! I honestly thought that was a thing of the past, ie PS2, PS3 days… thanks for sharing, this alone takes me back as a kid growing up in the 90s anticipating “the next big thing” in gaming! It was poppin at my local GameStop as well. It was refreshing, i havnt been to a midnight (in my case 9pm release) in a long time. So many cool people. No one knew each other but we were automatically friends. I love how video games brings people together.
I can remember when they had the midnight Call of duty Black ops release at our local GameStop. The workers were cosplayed as the military army with painted faces ready for war. I thought that was really cool. I know it’s non related to Zelda tears of kingdom but I thought I’d share my GameStop release experience.

The GameStop I work at had over 200 people and had line that wrapped around the building it was absolutely insane

My store had over 250+ people I was third waited four hours because I wanted the collector edition but my local GameStop had a band come and play and had vendors selling snacks

Great video man, glad everyone had fun. Reminds me of going to the midnight launch of the PS2 back in the day. Unfortunately for every good thing GS does there's the equally bad thing they do. I couldn't make the midnight launch myself which meant there was no chance of me getting my pre order bonus because instead of being a true bonus it was literally while supplies lasted. I won't be pre ordering anything from Gamestop anytime soon.
I did a midnight launch in the living room on the switch digital release and passed out 30 minutes later from to much excitement. Hahaha. The game is awesome so far. Also wish I had gone to the gamestop midnight release. I could have shaken hands with you the legend. Next time good sir. Keep it up and hope you are having a Blast.

i pre ordered at gamestop here in brooklyn new york i am about ten to 15 mins away from my local gamestop it was crazy last night more the 500 people for this game... i am tired today didnt go to sleep until about eight in the morning got so caught up in the game... love it

I went to Nebraska Furniture Mart, waiting about an 1 hour after opening, they had tons, zero lines. Grabbed a soda, a SEE’s candy bar and out the door I went. :)

I went to the midnight release here in Stockton, Calif. It was actually released at 9:00 pm Thursday. I took the next day off work. There were about 120 people in line. It was wonderful. Felt like 15-20 years ago. A better time for vidya. I got home, brewed a pot of coffee, and played until 4:45 am. 10/10 launch experience. 10/10 game. This footage you captured is beautiful. It’ll be watched for years to come. Thank you.

So GS actually had a midnight release? Wow! There wasn't a crowd where I pre-ordered at, but then again I didn't stick around long enough to see. I had to work last night and I went to check it out by my job during lunch break. I hope Tears of the Kingdom marks a revival for future midnight releases! Haven't gone to one in 8 years

Last midnight release I went to was Skyrim and that was really hype. I didn’t know GameStop was still holding these events. Maybe only for special games like zelda
i bought my totk game from gamestop and apparently from my gamestop alone, 200+ people waited at midnight and bought 2-3, shows how popular the game is.

we had mine in chicago it was packed got the first collectors edition to receive at tha store but the people there all got along we stayed after just enjoying the moment i love midnight

i just picked my copy up since i missed the midnight release as i was talking with the employee he said you came in time you got the last wooden plaque i was like no way i was so bummed out from missing the release but good things happen to people who work hard love your videos got my wife watching the old vids to catch up keep up the great work.

Man it was so awesome, im older now so i was on the fence about doing the late night release there but my buddy talked me into it, such a good time, felt like i did as a younger kid sitting outside gamestop waiting for the newest halo or call of duty or something. I love these memories.

I did not go to a midnight release at my GameStop I went the next early. I pick up a special edition Zelda and the amiibos. I do not get the the Zelda OLED Switch looks nice but I don't need it, already have a OLED Switch. I did get the scarf but not the wooden plaque I miss it.

the midnight release i went to was really cool, i met alot of cool people and many brought their switch and started playing it right there in the store (that's honestly the beauty of the switch) There was pizza at my store as well.

this is gonna be a hot take but I really wish the only way to get a game early would be physical at the store and doing this whole experience and if you buy the digital game it comes out a day late or something.
I only experienced one midnight release and that was Gears of War 3 where my mom dropped me off and I waited there until I got the game and dipped. idk the environment and everyone talking about games and sometimes they buy food for the people or set up a lan tournament. it's just fun.
