as far as i know, on some tanks, for example the leopard 1, the engine sound was so loud that instead of trying to camouflage it by muffling the sound, they decided to engineer the exhaust so that the lowest frequencies get spread all around the environment. this is mainly so that the enemy won't be able to locate the sound, but also for intimidating them.
T-72 is hands down the best tank ever made, its most battle tested machine on Earth right up there with T-55 and T-34 which are ironically also from the same country as T-72.
Sounds and looks beautiful! The T-72 is my favourite tank design-wise. Just love en rounded dome-like turret. Also, you can never go wrong with russian tanks ;)

I’ve been inside one of the captured ones back in the first First desert storm some 30 years ago. The crew compartment was tiny and for me there was this feeling of getting your arm eaten by the auto loader if you’re not careful as the gunner.

Yes you can in borne sulinowo. there is a museum of military machines, and it is possible to ride in the commander's seat in such a tank.

I'm a huge fan of T series but they are a bomb waiting to go off. I would personally want to be fighting in a Leopard or Markava Mk4

It's more about driver's size more than his height. It could be hard to come inside for a big guy :)

in civilian aplication you drive with open hatch and with head above armor.
