I think it’s pretty clear the young man was not willing to let his ego write a check he knew would bounce.
I don’t agree with those who say he isn’t smart. That is not a fair assessment. The young serviceman was smart enough to know he needed to be wise instead of foolish.
The kid recognized pretty quickly the confidence in which David cited law and realized his own insecurity and so summoned a superior. No arrogance in this young soldier. Nothing wrong with a man who knows his limitations and doesn’t let ego dictate posture.
Kudos to the kid for maintaining a cool and wise head. I guarantee he will do some research and learn from this lesson.
Humble and unassuming is the best approach. He did well. I’m certain he probably felt a little embarrassed but at least he wasn’t an arrogant ass know it all that got his head handed to him--THAT would be embarrassing.

They were all respectful and didn't escalate the situation unnecessarily. In the end this was a good, educational audit. And also I understood perfectly what he meant when the MP said they don't have any officers, except a lieutenant… LOL (lieutenants are often an after-thought when you start mentioning military officers - he just had to correct himself real quick)

Being as I was in the Navy, I'd like to say the Navy did a better job. Fact is, if i remember right, they did a piss-poor job. I think the Navy had an officer present, too. Almost had a flashback there. :D
This gentleman did a fine job. At no point did I see any escalation and he sought to verify the information you gave him regarding the laws. Even admitting that he was wrong about the law makes him more of a man than about 99% of others audited whom chose to remain ignorant and in ego.

Your shadow, towards the start of the video, keeps intersecting with the shadow from the light pole and it makes a super cool illusion that you've got a huge apparatus of some kind strapped to your back - a couple of times, it even lines up just right to look like a wicked long robot arm.

That young man is a credit to his family, his uniform and above all, himself. It is heartening to see a service member such as he, I hope he never loses sight of his humanity. I also credit him for doing the right thing, when in doubt, ask. Nobody knows everything, he acknowledged this and wasn't afraid to ask for help. The cop who showed, he also is a credit to his uniform and badge. It is a pity that more encounters with Law Enforcement don't go that way. But kudos to those two gentlemen.

You've said several time there was a SCOTUS case where 18.795 was overturned. Can you provide a citation? I can't find one anywhere. Now, for the record, any competent lawyer could determine that 18.795 has NO language in it forbidding the photographing of military installations from outside in a public place, nor does the guidance from the SecDef forbid any such thing, despite what Blue Bacon believes.

Being a former service member at that post. When guarding the gate we are required to radio it in if we see anyone doing this. Its not to be spiteful and to try and strip people of their rights, but to ensure the safety of the service members. Alot of crazy people in the world that just want to hurt people, especially service members. So its more of a precaution. How the Spc handled himself was top notch and really embodied the Army Values, and his willingness to learn and better himself is amazing, we need more Soldiers like him to be honest.
P.S. if i remember correctly the tank is the M41 Walker Bulldog just spreading the knowledge which variant im not to sure.
