I was prescribed with Zoloft on May 19, 2020 after I told my PCP that I was struggling with really severe anxiety. I watched your first Zoloft video and it made me feel prepared to take it. Seeing your background and story made me very excited to experience change. I was prescribed with 25 MG and stayed at it for about eight weeks. In the beginning, I did struggle with some awful side effects, like insomnia, tiredness, headaches, loss of appetite, and stuff - but I held on and eventually got through it after some adjustments. On June 30th, I decided to up my dosage to 37.5 MG and started taking a 25 MG pill and a half of another 25 MG pill together. I stayed at 37.5 MG for about a month, then upped my dosage again to a 50 MG pill, which is where I’m at now. This medication has truly changed my life. I feel much happier and more motivated. I, too, decided that I wanted to go back to college and get my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. I graduated from community college a year ago and thought I’d never go back to school again because of how low I felt. I honestly believe that this medication has pushed me forward to thrive out my passions. As you said in this video, I feel very joyful and excited whenever I wake up in the morning. I look forward to my day, which I really didn’t do before. This medication is a godsend and I’m so happy that I started taking it. I have good days and bad days, of course. But like you said, the good days outweigh the bad ones. I am really happy to see that this medication is helping you too. I am sending you good vibes and a successful future! ❤️❤️❤️

Basically It made me extremely tired so i feel asleep about 10 pm but woke up at 2 am feeling hungry and i tried to eat but i felt like i lost my appetite as soon as i ate and couldn't fall back asleep and when i would almost fall asleep i got extremely dizzy and started sweating a bunch and so i just never went back to sleep 😭 maybe it's just my own experience though!

Incredibly important topic to destigmatize! I have several family members and friends live WAY better lives now that they are seeing therapists and taking the proper medication (when needed) for their understandable medical problems with their psyches than when they kept quiet about it because they thought they would be judged for taking care of their own brains! It is no different that having surgery on the knee followed by physical therapy! It's an organ in the human body then needs and deserves medical attention.
    Great video!

I started taking Setraline about 9 months ago and it has worked very well for me. I have mild depression and generalized anxiety, I didnt even realize i was depressed, but much like you, i woke in the morning dreading the day, thinking forward to going to work and all that that entails and feeling like crap. some days were better than others, but there were times i felt so down, i dont know how i got through those days at work. Now, i am able to appreciate the good things i have , be kinder to myself, stop dwelling on the what ifs, quieting down my overactive mind, and just cutting myself some slack! I also feel much more motivated when I wake up, even though I am not a morning person. My advice would be, dont be discourage by the initial side effects. I had tiredness, lack of energy, heartburn (dont take it on an empty stomach or after eating foods you know give you heartburn!), I spaced out a lot, but I stuck with it and it got better a month or so later. Make sure to write down the side effects youre having and when they started, this way your therapist/doctor can determinr if it's normal or if you should change something in your diet or lower/increase dosage. Your therapist/doctor might also recommend trying a different anti depressant, but dont be disappointed or discouraged, as this is a trial and error process, but if you put in the work and keep going, youll get results!

This and your last video were extremely helpful. And help me be hopeful for the future. Thank you so much, some of the things you say were just SO ON POINT AND EXACTLY THE TRUTH. I always felt weird when my therapist told me to talk to my doctor about my symptoms because they were significant and unchanging for a long period of time, and i honestly thought "what symptoms?" Like i wrote in the description when i made the appointment "my therapist recommended i talk about my symptoms " because i wasn't really sure how to approach it. Turns out im depressed and my symptoms was just what i was dealing with on the daily. I was prescribed zoloft, but haven't started because I'm scared and don't have support from my family or boyfriend (their opinions are because of the stigma mental health or illness get. Reducing my issues to me being weak and lazy and don't just snap out of it). Truth is most of the side effects of zoloft i already have because of my depression and from not taking care of myself. Anyway thanks and subscribed

Medication can definitely work! Sometimes I stress over articles that purport findings like less empathy stemming from the use of SSRIs (but I wonder how it affects empaths) but then even tylenol can reduce empathy. My weird worry is that- before meds I'm fighting just to get out of bed and after I might have too much an advantage over others. I have this guilt that I cant take credit for things. Maybe that's common?

XnRz Hi having taken sertraline a few times, once for may years and just on the 3rdvday of starting it again as with life events I knew I was going downhill rapidly so knew I needed them again.
It's not an artificial happiness pill, in depressed people we don't have enough serotonin which is what keeps your moods and emotions stable. This can happen for various reasons. But ADs make the serotonin you do have ( IE the reuptake part of SSRI) be taken and used better, therefore it gives you the lift out of the black hole and helps you function again and relax to be able to deal and cope with the issue s in your life that need work. Healthy eating, excercise ,interests and hobbies, going out. I think there is an initial happiness faze because you've had the black hole feeling so long, and as you start dealing with life's stresses ,you then feel so much happier.
But at 13 she's very young and maybe on too high a dose for her. I'd tell your Doctor and see if a slightly lower dose would be more appropriate at her age. Caution is always used with Children, Adolescents and young adults. I am a retired nurse. Hope this helps you and maybe some others who don't fully understand how they work. Wishing you all the best ♥️

    • @_SarahElizabeth

I think it depends on the person -- when I've talked with my psychiatrist, he said that in my case, it would be likely that I would stay on it, however, he also said if I wanted to explore weening off of it, we could do that at some point. I think -- just from what I've heard from my psychiatrist -- that people will take this medication for a certain amount of time, however long -- and eventually get off of it again. If you have the means to speak with a psychiatrist, ask them and see if they can help you with this and other questions regarding medication. I hope more people respond to your question here though, people who have experience with being on a anti depressant. Hope this helps!

I had those all my life, and it changed everything. I was either numb, nervous, or angry. Now I have normal moods. I can close my eyes and relax now. Good luck, I hope it works for you!

Thank you. I just spoke with a friend about this who takes it and she has had similar experiences. I am going to try it to get my anxiety under control.

Try CBT therapy - this teaches you the tools to be able to cope with anxious thoughts. As well as dealing with any issues/trauma.
It’s Really effective and does work with time. Especially if you find a therapist who you click with. Don’t be afraid to ask to Change if you don’t.
I was on setraline for 5 years and didn’t solve the problem in the end.
You have to learn how to cope with triggers and be able to analyse the anxious thoughts/feelings. And over time it becomes lots easier and manageable.
Diet, exercise, hydrate, sleep hygiene also plays a huge part and only drink one caffeine drink a day - in the morning. Amazing how much caffeine can play a part in it.

Hi. I just completed my first week on 50mg Zoloft, some side effects like nausea and diarrhea and still feel like I'm forcing myself up every morning to get work done. I'm looking forward to positive results.

Subbed to your channel, it's amazing how well you're doing in life and I'm hoping this prescription will help me get there too. I'm exceptionally ambitious as a music producer but i've been trying to release something for 10 years ... depression, anxiety, PTSD, failed relationships and university courses, the latter two of which amplify the former three have been getting in the way and holding me back from my true potential and happiness. Looking forward to more content from you.
