She began her early musical education under her father, and then under her brother Kashinath Shankar Bodas. She also learned Kathak dancing in her childhood. Sahasrabuddhe's musical mentors included Balwantrai Bhatt, Vasant Thakar, and Gajananrao Joshi. Later she also trained briefly under Gaansaraswati Kishori Amonkar.
She had a bachelor's degree in vocal performance, Sanskrit literature, and English literature from Kanpur University (1968), a master's degree (Sangeet Alankar) in vocal performance from A.B.G.M.V. Pt. Vinayak Phatak
The renowned tabla artist, Taal mani Pt. Vinayak Phatak was introduced to music by his father Shri. Sitaram Phatak. His first guru was Pt. Pu.La. Samant in 1964. He later trained under veteran harmonium player Dilip Gosavi, and thereafter under Pt Manohar Chimote, a prominent player of the samvadini (an innovation by Chimote in the traditional French harmonium, the samvadini has strings fixed within the breadth of the instrument that are played by the hand on the bellows while the other hand is free to play the keys).
