My favourite part of this book is when just before the nukes launch, Wraith has this big speech at how Superman is a sad and lonely alien just like him and Superman going "No, you're weird. I do have friends. I'm doing good. I was like thank you Scott Snyder! Sick to death of that characterisation of Superman being sad.
At 7:01 Wait a minute, Lex Luthor used to have red hair.... HE WAS RED HAIRING FROM A PUP NAMED SCOOBY-DOO THE WHOLE TIME!!!!!! AND SCOOBY-DOO USED TO HAVE CROSSOVERS WITH BATMAN, MEANING THAT SCOOBY-DOO AND THE GANG EXIST IN THE DC UNIVERSE! IT ALL MAKES SINCE! o_O
34:43 you know i think my favorite "all of them" moment has to be Gary Oldman yelling it in The Professional at the end after Leon decimates that first swat team
Part of me was wondering when reading this if Synder just changed some names on a Hulk script he found from like the seventies. I was honestly half expecting that at the end Clark would be walking down a dirt road with a hobo pack on a stick while a sad song played in the background. Between Wrath more or less being Abomination on his meds and Lane committing his entire command to an unsanctioned invasion of international territory, this is the most old school Hulk story I have seen in a bit. None of that matters though, as once again Clark has the lesson beaten into him that humanity is more than one country and too narrow of a focus can prove detrimental.
I seriously don't understand how ComicPop only has 28,000 subscribers. By far the best of the "comic" channels. Keep up the good work, some day people will notice!!!
Wait a minute, Luthor plays with dolls? Hmmm... Luthor has become Dark Helmet! Dark Helmet: "Did you see anything!" Col. Sanders: "No, I didn't see you playing with your dolls again, sir!"
MORE SUPERMAN!!!!!! Loved your takes on it all. You nailed everything that makes superman stories good and what in them is corny and cringe worthy. Nailed it and explained it all perfectly. I loved this.
hey guys!!! I was always interested in Comics, but I had no one to share this with. Your channel is so f'ing funny and I feel like, I have someone to laugh with about all those great (and not so great) stories. Pls continue doing what you do! I came for the comics but stayed for you guys (and Tiffany!) Greetz from Germany!
I love Sal's gripe with the New 52 costumes even though I completely disagree with it. I loved Superman and Green Lantern's designs... and Nightwing. I said it!
You guys hit the nail on the head when you described this as an Anime. I'd be all for DC/WB getting a company like Production I.G. to make a Superman Anime film based on this story. In fact if I had it my way, I'd go a step further and do an Animatrix type thing and have a bunch of different Anime studios make short films or episodes based on Max Landis' American Alien. Whose with me?!
+D.C. Stranded (Mr. Wright) Yo, that'd be pretty sweet. This story is filled so much action, it could be a really cool 12-24 episode anime, if done right.
Awesome video as always. I really liked this story: non-stop Superman action with cool moments. Yeah, it's pretty forgettable, but it's still a cool story. I wish Lee and Snyder would've had the time to do the full on alien fight scene and give Wraith more character development. It would've made his sacrifice better, imo.
Please do Batman Confidential: Lovers and Madmen It's a great Joker story that got me into comics. I would love to see you cover it. Please consider. Thank you. I love the channel.
another great video. been a lot of Superman stuff lately--you should do Our Worlds at War (just for the fun commentary on the over-the-topness of DC at the time), or Johns' Secret Origin. Then again, some Morrison JLA stuff wouldn't be bad either...
Episode was great guys! So many great moments. Loved the Aliens thing (screen capped it) and Sal's Kansas guy voice. Hear me out guys. A Back Issues with lil ol Allie Moore on For The Man Who Has Everything. Please and thank you!
Another great video you guys! I don't even like Superman that much but I was excited to watch this one as much as any other. Hey, so crazy question: what are the chances of you guys doing the Inferno event from Marvel?
Rewatching this - and it is so good. BTW - This series takes place right after New 52 Superman vol 3: Fury At World’s End/ H’el On Earth On Earth - but before Batman/Superman: Crossworlds / Action Comics vol 4: Hybrid. Right before the doomsday virus thing and before he lost his powers in the DCYOU.
Hi ComicPOP, absolutely love your channel. It's amazing! Just off topic, it would be fantastic if you guys did a review on Star Wars: the Force awakens review (back issue style) I know it's not a comic book, but its still very POP culture.
I don't know how much of a back log of back issues candidates you guys currently have, but I was pondering sending you Xmen Noir in the near future. I rather enjoyed it and believe it would be a nice change from the X-continuity that you had to slog through in books like AVX. Just offering it to the ComicPop crew if that sounds interesting.
Thanks for this. Since this year is Captain America's 75th, could you do Captain America Man out of Time? It's the story that made him my favorite character. Keep up the great work.
Obviously this is a Superman story and completely irrelevant to the video, but when you think of seminal graphic novels or runs in comics that transcend the medium, they're usually DC books. Watchmen, V for Vendetta, The Dark Knight Returns, Kingdom Come, All-Star Superman, Batman: Year One, the Judas Contract... I'm well aware of stories like the Dark Phoenix Saga, Civil War, Infinity Gauntlet, Miller's run on Daredevil, the Death of Gwen Stacy, Marvels.... But what are some other hidden gems in Marvel Comics? Ive heard Rob from comics explained reference Alan Moore's run on Captain Britain where Mad Jim Jaspers is introduced, but are there any comics in that same vein that you could recommend?
lol, I love seeing the like dislike when it's like this ( 106 & 1) that one guy has to know he looks like a troll right. even if he's not. makes my day. I liked of course
+derrick Mitchell I have no doubt he thinks he's doing a service. "I'm subscribed so I can stick it to these guys every day. Fuck them." He's our biggest fan, really.
+ComicPOP I love your channel, but that comment is absurd. People should be able to express negative opinions without being ridiculed with amateur psychoanalysis.
A Bastard Yeah... That's not what I'm saying, dude. We get a thumbs down before there's really time for any time for the viewer to process what the video's about, which says there's people subscribed JUST to downvote it. That's not criticism. That's creepy dedication.
At around 28:30 Ethan talks about them destroying the crystal after using it and then Sal says they have an "Endgame for that" referring to their plan after using technology, Avengers: Endgame reference in 2016??
While I am sure it has been asked a bunch (I only recently found your channel) I would love to see your take on the Inhumans. They are a complex and long running group that has really surged to the forefront of Marvel recently, and I am sure lots of people could use some insights. As a long time FF reader, I have a lot of experience with them but for a bunch of folks I am sure they seem like they just came out of nowhere.
+Ryan Brandos We'll definitely cover the Inhumans at some point in the near future, but I warn you-- I'm not the biggest fan of them. Like you, my exposure was through the F4 and I was never fond of them. Recent years have bolstered their "awesomeness," but I'm still not convinced.
+ComicPOP I get that, they seem to have some powerfully mixed reviews. I am a big fan personally but I still understand most of the criticisms I have heard. As with all things comicbooky it's all about the readers tastes. To my tastes, Black Bolt is one of the most compelling characters Marvel has in its roster right now because not only does he not speak, but they don't do "thought bubbles" for him... leaving 100% of the readers comprehension of his motives and opinions in the hands the artist or filtered through what other characters choose to say about him. I also like that, while they can approach a lot of the same story arcs that Mutants used to be used to explore, the societal structure established for the Inhumans allow them to do so from an entirely different angle. Far more proactive, positive, and 'hopeful' than Mutants were able to because of the decades of baggage/persecution. But hey, that's just my opinion. I am anxious to hear yours, if for nothing else to get a conversation going about this old (and new) element of the Marvel universe.
I actually really like scott snyder. He did really well on a lot of things. I like his swamp thing as well as his vertigo book the wake. Really great in my opinion.
thank you sal, it's been years since I watched a pup named Scooby-Doo and I finally understand the double entendre for red herring. and now I feel like an idiot
Hey guys, just want to say 'love you guys for doing this'. But for the love of god can we see Green Arrow: Year One on here. Personally think its one of the best retelling of a characters origin.
I feel like the more we ask for Watchmen and Killing Joke, the more you're going to push it off like World War Hulk... sell played. Anyway how about Batman Endgame? It'd be funny to see your reaction to the "death of Batman" and so far the actual death of The Joker.
It's because everyone has read, or at the very least watched, Watchmen by now. Including everyone on the couch, which defeats the purpose of Sal explaining the story. Although I wouldn't mind Killing Joke at some point down the line, whenever that happens. But I'll be patient.
+Paul Trycinski true but Ethan and Ben don't always have to go in clueless, I'd like to see an episode where they all just nerd out on a book they all loved.
Morgan MacEachern oh I totally agree, I was just stating what they've mentioned before on the subject. I think Comic Line was supposed to fill that desire, but unfortunately they stopped recording those after the first few. Which is a real shame as I love the long-form content that they produce on this channel.
Scott Snyder will take any chance he can to put a character in a mech. He gives Batman like 4 of them. Metal starts with the JL Voltron thing. I kinda want him to just do any indie Mech series.
Pick up Superman Unchained here: amzn.to/21ZHCGv
Nice save. 7 years later lol
@@mrdgenerate Been in the description the whole time; just doing some updates.

I was like thank you Scott Snyder! Sick to death of that characterisation of Superman being sad.
I want a Supercut of every time Sal says "here's the thing," or "in any case."
I personally like the Wraith character. He's the bomb!
I think you mean he's "da bomb".
No. He is _THE_ Bomb. Nagasaki can vouch for me! HAHAHAH- Oh. I made myself sad.
+Just Some Guy with a Mustache Too soon! Jk lmao!

Oh man i lost it at that "A pup name scooby doo" reference. Thanks for the nostagia trip Sal :)
That moment of Sal saying "Aliens" is my new wallpaper
To quote DBZ abridged Vegeta, "Power levels are bullshit!".
+Steel Legionnaire I knew someone had to have beaten me to it.
A Pup Named Scooby Doo was so awesome
"I know, its RED HERRING?!" Lmao, loved that show too!
@@langleymneely and then it actually WAS once
I just couldn't get into it.
I've always been a Scooby Doo fan, but that show just didn't catch me.
This is Steve is Massachusetts. I bought this comic because of this video. I love it. Great art. Great storytelling.
You guys should really have more subscribers, every episode is just great
What do you get for the man who has everything?
.... Cash.
...oh Bruce.
I freakin love that you guys quote The Guyver.
I come back to this one a lot, one of my favorite Superman ep's, Easy
One of my all time favourite Superman Comics! So glad you did this!

Thanks to you guys, I bought this a while ago at a local comics store, and I love it! It's my only New 52 Superman trade and comic.
This story was wildy action packed!! I would have loved to see Scott Snyder continue writing Superman!!
The best comic based channel on UA-cam love watching your guys videos!!! Hilarious but still good explanation on the stories
"NO HE WAS FLYIN LIKE A SPACM"-Sal 2016

Aww, missed opportunity to do For the Man Who Has Everything, but it is really short, so whatever this book is great

There is always time for the madness of Alan Moore. No matter how long the book is, the story associated with it would fill the time...
"What do you get for the man who has everything?" Answered by Batman in the Justice League series; money. DUH.
