Interest rates are fine, super low rates is part of the reason we have inflated home prices. Buyers got into a bidding war because they could borrow money at a historically low rate.
The reason why ppl are able to sell houses for such a large price right now is because stock is low. When there are more houses available, prices will go down, so therefore payments will be lowered.
With an open border we need a lot more houses.

I lowered my interest rate .75% and lowered my mortgage $275 a month. I rolled that extra 275 right back into the payment to build more equity. You can't touch a interest rate under 6% right now. What good is the 25,000 assistance if the interest rate makes the home unaffordable? "Free Money" always comes with a price. They're not gonna just give everyone that money. Who's gonna foot the bill? How much will inflation rise everywhere else due to this? They will make the money back somewhere at everyone's expense.

- Stop buying luxury brands unless thrifting

The problem isn't people not making enough to save money, it is actually that most people cannot stop spending it. If you don't want to make the sacrifices to save for a house then what are you going to do when you need a new roof, sewage line, have a medical emergency that puts you out of work for a few months, or any of the numerous other circumstances that WILL arise over time. While I'm using national averages that may not reflect everyone's spending habits, when you add up all these seemingly innocent expenses it gets very expensive very quickly.
