I love this man. I am Canadian. I am 60 years old. He lived around the corner from me. My daughter worked with his granddaughter. He used to call me and rope me in to raising money for cancer research. I could never say no to Count Firghtenstein. I love you Bill. Forever and always. You defined my childhood. Also - Party Game on Sunday nights! ...and if you ever come to FankenStone... Don't come alone.
Being in the UK the HHOF show never made it over here until recently. I may be a `little' older than the intended viewers, but certainly enjoying this.
How could anyone NOT love a Saturday morning childrens' horror show starring Billy Van and Vincent Price? It's been fifty years and I still quote from it, from time to time.
@@gedcke He could have STILL done a movie a that age... The only person I could see doing a reboot is a movie with Eddie Murphy. I think Eddie would shine but it'd be such a diff vibe...I dunno. I think Billy could have done it again at that age even.
+Pinballpete007 The Librarian was one of my favourites....I wonder if Count Floyd's Monster Chiller Horror Theatre "borrowed" from The Librarian's inability to ever offer up even one truly scary film.
I loved this show as a child! Simply brilliant. A great home grown talent, and legend to Canadian kids of my generation. The Wolfman always played the baddest beats!
The chuckles and squeals from off camera makes me think that the staff watched Frightenstein, too. What a thrill that must've been to get to hear all those voices come out of Billy Van.
my favourite show growing up in the 70s and later on the 80s when it was on at 2 in the morning and i would be coming in totally buzzed out and the show seemed even better.
This guy was as funny and talented - maybe moreso - as any major Hollywood comedian. RIP Billy Van - I remember your show from 50 years ago and it will always bring a smile.
Standing up for the Gay Community... in 1978! Bravo Billy. He was the uncle of a friend of mine... and in person was a lovely and kind man. Extremely talented. We used to talk about how great James Cagney's movies were ... and he often would suddenly get up and sing "Yankee Doodle Dandy".
Loved Hillarious House of Frightenstein as a kid. Remember like many as kids regarding the credits..Billy Van Billy Van .. Nice to see the real man that made us laugh. He also was on the Love Boat once shortly before his death. He looked entirely different.
1:30 Well said Billy. And herein lies the difference of today's comedy....back when dignity, simplicity and limits had their place. Summed up rationally at the end.
Great show for us kids in the 70s. I loved his "Griselda" character the best I think. He was a really talented guy who, for the most part, doesn't get much recognition. But then..there are a LOT of "Those Guys".
Mr.Billy Van, I watched The Hilarous House as re-runs in the 80's as a kid and loved it. I didn't know until later Van was Canadian. What a talent. In this clip I think he means, good clean laughs and not at the expense of anyone, and that is so respectable.
Excellent show. I even showed these to my four kids. They loved it. Trying to carry on the tradition of timeless programs & talent. My daughter just recently LOVES Dean Martin's singing, most kids today don't even know who he is. I did my part to keep them alive in some way or another.
***** Yes, thanks, I've been down there. I was at the "Fools Paradise" house at the end of Meadowcliffe, and then I noticed Billy's house behind the fence. I wonder how much land was lost due to the erosion, and if any of the structure is still clinging to the cliff.
Comedians and comedy writers today would benefit from his idea, that something should just be funny without some sort of message behind it. I miss the days of good, clean, FUNNY comedy.
Love both Billy Van and the interviewer Paul Soles (Spider-Man), but Soles didn't have the chops to pull off this interview show. I literally experienced more levity & excitement during my audit with CRA than what transpired in this interview...and I'm not kidding.
Was this from Canada after Dark?..I completely ( and intentionally) forgot about that one. Paul Soles was great though..take 30 used to bore us to death, of course he was fantastic as ,The Lawbreaker, on This is the Law. Billy Van, what an under rated ,and over looked comedian..very talented indeed.
@@adamgta6960 correct, uncle bobby show was toronto though. lol i had No idea Billy Van played so many of the characters on the show, he was like a 1 man funny army.
Yah, I once read somewhere Hamilton, Ontario. And filmed in very short duration, maybe 5-6 months? Vincent Price did all his intros and outros in quick succession. I wonder how he became involved in the project in the first place? Obviously, he was known as a 'Man of Horror', and a very nice touch to an excellent show. That voice!
And I'm finally getting a supposed rare box set with all 130 episodes? hope it's not all burned DVDs even so at least I'll have them. There hard to find an extremely expensive cause for some reason you can only find them on ebay separately for 130 and over.

He was a genius and I love watching shows on UA-cam
The man was brilliant, pure and simple. May he rest in peace.
How could anyone NOT love a Saturday morning childrens' horror show starring Billy Van and Vincent Price? It's been fifty years and I still quote from it, from time to time.
Griselda: If i had a nose full of nickels, i'd sneeze them all ... at-choo. OMG!!! Magical!
Bill Hader, SNL
I grew up watching this show. Now it is on youtube and my daughter can see it.
Billy Van was an extraordinary talent. Under appreciated as well, I think.
+Chris R I agree too. If he was around today he'd be huge.
he is still alive isn't he?
Sadly, he died in January of 2003, at age 68.
Up there with Eddie Murphy and Peter Sellers. Top 3 imo.
@@gedcke He could have STILL done a movie a that age... The only person I could see doing a reboot is a movie with Eddie Murphy. I think Eddie would shine but it'd be such a diff vibe...I dunno. I think Billy could have done it again at that age even.
My little nephew is mesmerized by this show.
I never missed an episode. Loved the show.
❤😊cool
This man is a Canadian treasure
One of the all time great Canadian performers. One of my childhood heroes, as far as entertainment is concerned.
Growing up in the 70s would not have been the same without the Hilarious House of Frightenstein and Billy Van :-)
Pinballpete007 Growing up in the 80s without reruns wouldn't have been the same either.
+Castle Bravo XVC Or the [late] 90's! :D
+Pinballpete007 The Librarian was one of my favourites....I wonder if Count Floyd's Monster Chiller Horror Theatre "borrowed" from The Librarian's inability to ever offer up even one truly scary film.
Pinballpete007 and 80s
i watched the show as a kid, loved it & wonder why stuff like this wasn't duplicated !
Filmed a few blocks from where I grew up. Hamilton Ontario 🍁
I mentioned this show on Coast to Coast AM last night. It's been close to 50 years since his show was on!
I loved this show as a child! Simply brilliant. A great home grown talent, and legend to Canadian kids of my generation. The Wolfman always played the baddest beats!
I loved Billy Van man, what a super special cat...
So great. Used to get up at 5:30 am to watch the show almost every day.
Me too
I would be rolling in from an all nighter somewhere the wilds of Toronto and turn on HHOF and Wizard of Oz cartoon before drifting off to slumberland.
Same! My Dad made breakfast for me and my siblings before he went to work, so we were up at 5:30am, and this show was mandatory viewing!
Same here
This show was on in 1980 when i watched it as a kid.
It was so cool, yet freaked me out!
That show introduced me to Sly Stone at 6 years old
Yessa!
Igor in silhouette dancing to
I Want to Take You Higher.
Great, unforgettable stuff!
I love and miss Billy Van - there's really no one around like him today.
Loved this show -- just showed it to my students here in Japan!
The chuckles and squeals from off camera makes me think that the staff watched Frightenstein, too. What a thrill that must've been to get to hear all those voices come out of Billy Van.
Probably the live audience.
Billy Van is a class act.
Well he was thats for sure. Sadly he died back in '03.
Grizelda was my favourite character on that show. Cracked me up when she made the face after tasters time lol
Half of them he's drunk in lol
I remember the best show
Funny like you got no idea.
I seen every single episode
my favourite show growing up in the 70s and later on the 80s when it was on at 2 in the morning and i would be coming in totally buzzed out and the show seemed even better.
One of the best examples of great Canadian Talent !

creepy cool awesome!!! i grew up on this cat!! GREAT CHILDHOOD MEMORIES!!!
I Loved this show.
Showed me how to learn.
Taught me how to teach.
imagine if he and Robin Williams had ever done improv together..that wouldve been awesome
This man should have a movie about Billy....but nobody has the talent to play him. Will never forget Billy Van Billy Van Billy Van etc etc...
This show is shamefully unknown, even in Canada where it originated. More people should look it up.
When CBC made fun quality Shows 😎👊
Actually it was not a CBC affiliate at the time they went independent in 1961 the show aired in 1971.
I used to watch this series as a little girl good times😂😂😂😂
Thank you Billy Van for the good times in those good old days.
"You say you want to hear Jumpin' Jack Flash? Well, that's a real golden oldie. Alright, let's DIG IT!"
2024 - Thank you Billy Van for all the laughs and memories.

Yep, unlike “the message” that they’re pushing in everything today.

I really miss Billy Van RIP
And what about his poor old house out on the Scarborough Bluffs? It was sad to see it falling apart like it has.
Sashine B.
near 23 Meadowcliffe Rd. from Google maps. As you can walk to the west from Doris McCarthy Trail and east of Scarborough Bluffs.

i lovd it grizelda my fav
What a talent!!!
Wow I've never seen him like this and didn't realize he did so many of my favorites in this show! This show was amazing!
Paul Soles the voice of Spiderman talking to Billy Van the star of the House of Frankenstein.
AWESOME!!!!!!
Never heard of this show but saw the intro on UA-cam looks like h.r pufnstuff meets rowan and martin laugh in ❤
Oh, is that Paul Soles interviewing? I remember him doing Talley's Folly at Theatre Calgary long, long ago
Such a talent!
Comedians and comedy writers today would benefit from his idea, that something should just be funny without some sort of message behind it. I miss the days of good, clean, FUNNY comedy.
I wish we could see his eyes. I had a wee crush on him as a child.
You have great taste! 🧛🏻♂️
billy was a talent for sure and here he talks to the original SPIDERMAN !
That’s Paul Soles? Get out of here!!! Knew he sounded familiar!
Oh I HAVEN'T seen this one!!
His work was on the fly too
Great show!!
He was also funny on the charades "Party Game" weekday show.
I remember this from basic cable was on 6am Saturday back in the early 90s.
I thought I made this up 😆
Rip Billie van
Love both Billy Van and the interviewer Paul Soles (Spider-Man), but Soles didn't have the chops to pull off this interview show. I literally experienced more levity & excitement during my audit with CRA than what transpired in this interview...and I'm not kidding.
Amazing talent would have killed on UA-cam today
Billy Van is a f*cking genius. Love that show.
The interviewer is Paul Soles, who is best known for voicing "Hermey" on "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer".
Yeah and he's boring as hell too!
I'd say he's probably better known as the first voice of Spider-Man.
I just learned so much with these comments.🍻
!! BILLY VAN ;D

Good question! I almost forgot about 'Canada After Dark'. I vaguely remember another show, 'Monsters We've Known and Loved'?
will be missed
I wonder why Billy Van never worked with John Candy, Eugene Levy, etc
at Second City on SCTV?
He would have been great with that Cast.
🙂
Remember Max the 2000-Year-Old Mouse? That's Paul Soles!
Clearly Mike Myers grew up watching this guy,
almost 50 years later and we all still just want to laugh...
my mom raised us on hhof her favorite was the orcile mine was the librarian
Loved this stuff as a kid...............guy 'seems" classy ! compared to todays standards !
think it was filmed in toronto canada
Hamilton, i think

Love Billy, though.
read above...the voice of the elf on rudolph and the original spider-man.
When will the Colt 45 server arrive?
Wow didn't know people were politically correct back then.
at this point it time there were a lot of 'limp wristed' stereotypes out there. Siskel & Ebert talk about in one of their shows. google it.
What a great talent and Canadian icon.
