To the naysayers, I say keep listening to this one, it gets better the more you listen, especially when you grasp the lyrics, you can really feel the tortured feeling in his voice. Already first in line for 2015 album of year!

I keep waiting for the mega super fast thrash tunes and both Mercy and this are a lot slower than usual and not as technical as other tunes so at first I was a bit disappointed - but damn these are both crushing... so much atmosphere/emotion, can't wait for the album...!

    • @xxczerxx

Charles Pockert I felt the same way, but on the album teaser they hint at some tracks being pure, unrelenting bursts of rage, so we can still look forward to the good ol' stuff!

I know I'm late to the game, but I actually like finding bands this far into their career as I have so much material to dig through. This plus the fact that they are releasing a new album come Jan 2015, I'm so fucking stoked. One of the best finds in a long while.

WeirdSchizo That works too, studies found metal fans appreciate music in the same way classical fans do. Funnily as a kid I was scared of loud music and drums made me cry, now I love bands like sylosis.

    Acid slaver burns through bone
    Dissected and reanimated
    Lips are sewn
    Stitched to mute the outcome
    Block the exit wounds
See through the face of degradation
Beyond what hides on the surface
    Numb the ache
    Dull the light and sound
    It's dragging me down
    This isn't war
    For this is silent
    Your pointed teeth
    Left leeches marks in me
And I can feel it burning
    Forever under my skin
    Dissected into a thousand pieces
    Corroding from the inside
    Piercing the flesh
    And burrowed deep
    A host forever asleep
See past the face of degradation
Beyond what hides on the surface
    Numb the ache
    Dull the light and sound
    It's dragging me down
This isn't war for this is silent
    Your pointed teeth
    Left leeches marks in me
And I can feel it burning
    Forever under my skin
The remnants of your soul depart
The cold frost of winter soothes the sting
    Forever the leech is king

The vocals are as solid as ever and this song brings the idea that speed isn't everything as there are great feels with the slowed down speed. There are a lot of other tracks on this album and throughout the teaser video other songs sound like classic thrashy sylosis so overall I'm stoked for the album and love the 2 singles that are out now. Desperately want the lyrics though.

+Gonzalo Chairez i'm so scared that in a few years these guys will do it it next :( Trivium were supposed to lead the new metal and instead they sold out and betrayed their old fans. It's up Sylosis to fill that void.

+DownFromTheSky89 Even though I was a bit let down by the lack of screaming, Silence In The Snow is an amazing album. Before you start insulting me hear me the fuck out, I love Shogun and Ascendancy, the mix of screaming and clean vocals is just fucking fantastic, hell even In Waves and Vengeance Falls are awesome records and I love all their old stuff, excluding Ember To Inferno as its just not my thing. Silence In The Snow is honestly an amazing album, yes I would love it even more if it had some screaming here and there but it is what it is and as a Trivium fan for over 10 years now I feel like its a nice change and a breath of fresh air. Matt's vocals are off the fucking charts and I can't wait to see what hes gonna bring to the table next and if you haven't been following them recently, Matt is trying to scream again. On the other hand we still have Corey who does the screaming and hes damn good at it. All in all Trivium make the music they want to make and I love them do death for that, I'd rather have them do Silence In The Snow over and over, if that's what they like instead of rehashing Shogun when its obvious they aren't in the mood for a Shogun 2.0.

Dude, Jesus Christ. I just recently got into Sylosis earlier this year, having heard songs like Teras, After Lifeless Years, The Fate Of Vultures, Empty Prophets, stuff like that. But my god, this has to be my favorite so far. Perfection from start to finish and goddammit, that chorus hits so hard. Such perfection. Fuck. And the outro, oh my god. Musical orgasms being had over here.

    • @julio5595
      @julio5595 9 років тому +19

Saying its emo is just a pathetic way to try and dismiss his vocal style. Its not emo - its just that you don't like the style of vocals which is fine. "Emo" music would typically involve clean and screaming vocals which this definitely does not. The structure of Sylosis songs in general is more complex and progressive than "emo" music, therefore being another reason differentiating it from that "genre".
