Totally agree with the sentiment of this rant...... except for one thing; don't confuse London with "the South" I'd bet that much of Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire, even Hampshire (think Southampton and Portsmouth) have more in common with Boro than Islington. Depends where you live mate grangetown is different to yarm lol. I live in ireland now but my dad lives in marske and it's one of the nicest places to live I think so it's all subjective. I'd take a pint down the navy before a game than being any other fan out there.
I live in Somerset & have family near Liverpool & I find the people up north 100 times friendlier.... Obviously not an exact rule but it seems to be a trend.. Also to the guy talking about london/Birmingham, that isn't the North that's South east/Midlands... No one thinks London is particularly friendly.

Yarm is indeed a very fine place. Worked with a lot of Middlesbrough people in the shipyards back in the day. Invariably lovely, warm hearted people, with a great sense of humour.
