    In a short amount of time they brought me back to metal. And I grew up listening to the heavy metal album from the originally movie, cruised around town with Metallica and Megadeth cranking out of the car stereo, then metal got to where I could no longer understand what was being said and new metal bands were more like "me too" bands. I stopped listening to new metal music altogether but did continue to listen to those I knew. My first Baby metal experience was UA-cam video of their Gimme Chocolate performance. And while I don't know Japanese I really enjoyed the music, vocal melodies, and dancing. It was like watching art being animated before my eyes. The I was pointed their other performances and the third song I heard by them, The One, captured my heart. From here on out I am a loyal fan of Baby metal because of their music. I would love to see them in person someday.

    Yui Mizuno is a soft-spoken individual, known for her careful approach to making statements. In a famous band like hers, the accuracy and integrity of every member's statement are crucial. It's true that Yui Mizuno is honest in her communications. Occasionally, she might diverge slightly, but never to the extent that it jeopardizes her position in the band. As for Yui Mizuno leaving the band, I'm not the right person to provide a statement. None of us are entirely certain about what occurred in Babymetal-whether it was a challenge from the management or an internal decision by the band. However, we maintain positive thoughts, believing that everything that unfolds is already destined. Numerous comments made by various parties may not necessarily be accurate, potentially leading to misunderstandings among fans. My hope is for Yui Mizuno's perpetual health and success in any future endeavors she pursues.

    So this video has done nothing but affirm my already deeply held positive feelings for Babymetal.
    The absolute best part about this band in my mind isn't the worldwide acclaim that they receive, or even how good their music is. It is just how incredibly normal they all seem. Now maybe that is just the Japanese Culture or maybe it has something to do with how the band itself operates behind the scenes but regardless, I just can't imagine any American bands that can come up like this one and still maintain the impossible amounts of humbleness that these three girls have. Man I seriously need to make it out to at least one of their concerts.

    in 2010 after 30 years or so of heavy metal reigning supreme it seemed like the waters had become ,as one of the reporters here said, rather stagnant. babymetal has stirred those waters and soared to the top. perhaps this is why so many hard core metal fans,especially in the west, have a hard time accepting that this new form of metal is "true" metal,and not some manufactured joke. this report is 7 years old now. the girls are in their 20s and continue to pack venues,and gain more fans all the time. the amount of people i see reacting to babymetal on you tube,and their surprise at being blown away by them adds fuel to the fire that was started with 3 young schoolgirls over 13 years ago. babymetal is not going away. they are carrying the torch well "over the future".

    This is a really cool news report and interview with BABYMETAL. I am so glad there were English subs so I could enjoy it more completely. Their combination of Metal and J-Pop/Idol is irresistible and their charm is so amazing. They are a generational group in my opinion. I am much older and grew up in the 80's and although I loved Metal then, my interest had been flagging in the 2000's. When BABYMETAL burst upon the scene, their high energy dancing and SuMetal's soaring vocals over the innovative music gave me so much joy it revived my interest in the music again. I regret I didn't see them live in concert (especially before YuiMetal left) in person, but I have enjoyed the shows captured live on UA-cam and other sites. It's awesome that Babymetal are bringing metal to a wider audience in Japan. I've been listening to metal since I was probably around 13 when I discovered Paranoid by Black Sabbath in my Dad's record collection in like '79 (yeah I'm old). I grew up listening to Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer, Megadeath, Ministry, Pantera, Korn, RATM, SOAD, Slipknot, Tool and on and on. I have seen a lot of changes in metal over the years. Every time something like new like RATM, that was a fusion of rap and metal, would come along there were always those saying "that's not metal" but for me that has kept it fresh and interesting. Some I didn't like like the glam metal of the 80's. I'll have to admit I wasn't too thrilled about Babymetal when I first heard them. I was listening to a lot of Maximum the Hormone at the time (still am) so I was happy to hear about another Japanese metal band but then I read the girls hadn't even heard of metal before the band and it was all put together by record execs. I thought oh it's just a gimmick but I would still check out there vids from time to time. Over time they won me over and I do now call myself a fan. If they can bring metal to a wider Asian audience nothing but good can come from that.

    • @ISMSKL
      @ISMSKL 6 років тому +8

      I'm on the same boat as you. They are winning me over. They are truly something fresh in the world of metal today. I remember when I first heard Metallica when I was 13 (I'm 41 now) and it was a 'WTF' moment for me back then.. Then other other bands Like Slayer, Ministry, Prong, Tool, Today is the day, Meshuggah, Animals As Leaders, Gojira, Mastodon and many others provided me with those 'WTF is this?' moments in my life. Babymetal is the latest band to give me that 'WTF is this' feeling and it is refreshing. I too, wasn't too thrilled about them when I first saw their video a couple years back. I thought they were just another pop group using metal to create a fuss to gain attention. Few years later they are still doing what they are doing, not giving a fuck and totally dedicated to their music. That is Metal as far as i am concerened.

    I think they got it about right. Metal fans are very concerned that their culture will be infiltrated by illegitimate bands and lose credibility, kind of like how hip hop has been almost completely converted into pop. However, KobaMetal and the Kami band are true, fully legit, metal artists. Despite the Idol origins of Babymetal, those who created it, produce it, and play it are fully metal and the girls are very serious about embracing that.
    Babymetal is a gateway drug that can bring many new fans into the fold and really save Metal...if the Metal community will let them.

    • @calaverasgrande
      @calaverasgrande 4 роки тому +3

      I think we can kind of infer that Koba has inculcated a very good taste in music for these young women. They have been at this since they were in 5th and 7th grade! About 10 years at this point. And quite formative years in taste in music.
      I remember when one interviewer remarked that they had played with many of the leading lights of the Metal scene already, and asked whom would they next like to share a stage with. The young women replied in unison "Iron Maiden".
      Now this could of course be a very facetious choice on their behalf simply because of the name, and that they are young ladies.
      But I rather imagine them in a tour bus with Koba giving them a bunch of music to listen to. And that is one they picked out because of the name! There is certainly a Maiden influence in Babymetal.

      TBH, Yui is the deep thinker and more reflective among the two...she don't take her favorites based on how they appear but on how they affect her from within, just like how she likes King Kerry of Slayer because he is still confident headbanging even though he's bald and she feels like she should also be like him who is confident in doing her performance no matter how she looks.
      Moa on the other hand is a good researcher. she don't want to miss something or any detail that she haven't know. she is like the curious and friendly cat in them. Plus, she is definitely oozing with charm. ^_^ that's why I prefer her over Yui but I also like Yui's personality but...

    Isn't it great how Babymetal promotes the magazine in their song ? Hedoban, Hedoban, Hedoban, Hedoban. ;-)
    (Hedoban does have the best Babymetal interviews, so I think it's warranted)

    • @Soufriere84
      @Soufriere84 6 років тому +3

      I've heard Hedoban exists in part because of Babymetal. The editor saw BM's potential early on but knew neither Idol magazines nor Metal magazines would cover them (he mentions Metal's conservatism several times in the interview) so he started a Metal quarterly that would give BM coverage they deserve.

    It is funny/interesting to see how they nodd so often to what the say themselves! Maybe to underline it? Usually we (in Europe) nodd when we want to express agreement with things others say.

    • @leitros
      @leitros 7 років тому +2

      It's just another example of Japanese politeness. It does not necessarily express agreement. Its main purpose is to show the other party that you are listening (and taking in ) to what they are saying.

    • @svenlima

    I'd be curious if Japan still sees them that way? 🤔 I can tell you right now BabyMetal is far more than just an idol band now.
    You see almost no young people getting into metal over here. Yet in Japan it's almost like a Renaissance.
    BabyMetal, Band-Maid, & Lovebites alone is enough reason to have hope for the future. This is an interesting interview for the time here.
    Fast forward 6 years later however to still call them that clearly not. Maybe Japan themselves doesn't fully appreciate just how much BabyMetal has contributed!! :b

    I wonder if Moa understands the lyrics to My Generation LOL! and Yui talking about Kerry King and slayer, is just AWESOME. Looks like they've caught the metal bug :D especially Su, with how she is on stage. She completely gets the metal stage presence. Sorry to all J-pop lovers, but I think the more metal they become, the better the band is :) Plus, Moa is practicing hard on guitar and wants to participate i the making of the music in future. It's looking good for this band in future! So to all the naysayers who think they're on the exact same system as other, interchangeable, replaceable k-pop/j-pop girl bands, just sit back and watch what happens. I'll eat my words if I ever have to, but I've followed metal music and other genres in general, for over 20 years, and I have a gut feeling that BABYMETAL will continue to grow in different ways and Su-metal is going to be a HUGE star. She seems born to perform and entertain. Just watch the tribute video for her, showing a time lapse of her as a child, singing on stage, right up to today. She's amazing and so are the kami band. ZERO disrespect to Yui and Moa, who are awesome in their own way, but I'm yet to be convinced that they'll be involved with the metal side of things for too many years. They're way more pop oriented.

      +Lungsy1988 Well said. I can't wait to see how Babymetal will evolve. Just in the last few years Babymetal has grown immensely, and matured into a pure form of metal. The change of scenery, or songs of choice. There is endless possibilities to explore from now on. I hope Babymetal will inspire other new bands, so kawaii-metal will become a established genre.

      +Lungsy1988 - I agree with you on everything but the last bit about Yui and Moa. It's definitely true they're both pop fans -- Moa of J-Idol-Pop and Yui of American Pop -- but Yui in particular cares very deeply about Babymetal and her "Sisterhood". Underneath that shy babyface is an intelligent (but English-deficient) fighter and workhorse.

      I can't imagine Babymetal without Yui and my little cute princess Moa. They are a big part of this band, i don't feel the ''special thing'' of babymetal when Suzuka sings without them on stage. It is good but it's not as good as all of them together.

      +meme lover it works by relying on so many people with poor taste. and of course its their choice they get money. lots of people in japan think money is most important. also, they like to make jokes against americans. such as metal gear solid, and babymetal. too bad I keep clicking "not interested" in baby metal all week but it keeps showing up on my page. not sure if they are old enough to make a choice. my worry is that in ten or 20 years they will look back and realize what a bad joke they were. like they dotn even know what fox god is, the producer told them to do it and say it....

    • @richieh9856

      Not "Aniote" but "合いの手(Ainote)" is right.
      It means...something like a clap along and cheer( I'm sorry, I don't know how to say that.) . Example for that when Su-METAL sing the IINE!, we also scream "IINE!" And "IINE!". This our response is the "Ainote". To put it more simply, it is singing the part of YUIMETAL and MOAMETAL.

      In this context, it refers to the "call and response" parts of the songs. Su-metal sings the main parts of the songs and the audience, lead by Yui & Moa sing/chant back many of the other parts.

    • @calaverasgrande
      @calaverasgrande 4 роки тому

      I've seen it elsewhere mentioned that Babymetal found it disconcerting when they traveled abroad and audiences sang along with Su, instead of following Yui and Moa, as they do in the Japanese concerts. You can see the difference in how they 'teach' the audiences in European and American shows.
