What MLB Players Really Think Of Shohei Ohtani?
• What MLB Players Reall... - Спорт
I'm sure people will realize how great Ohtani is 10, 20, 30 years after he retired.
If they don't realize it now, they are oblivious to baseball.
He broke 3 different records this season and is currently the record holder on all three categories. And he breaks his own record everyday he starts. MVP shohei showtime Ohtani
Bruh after they see that every 5 years a player comes very close to 60 HRs and AVG over Judge every year, they'll see who got stolen for the MVP, it's an insult to Babe Ruth, The goat of baseball, someone break his record and these ppl give the MVP to Judge cuz he hit +60 HRs (all other stats are normal, nothing new), Sammy Sosa did it 3 times in a row
@@donnadie5882 hey don’t be down dawg. The betters in Vegas are not the voters for mvp. Yes they put judge as favorites by -10000 but that’s meaningless because people who elect the mvp are the baseball writers. Only they get to vote for mvp. They are very nice people who aren’t racist like those Italians from east coast and Yankee fans. Same thing Last year those same Vegas people made vlad guerrero jr the favorite and then a month later got humbled when baseball writers voted unanimously for Ohtani to win MVP. 😉🏆🙂
Why you need to deny the reality for 10 years?
I don't know if you would see 200Ks and 35HR in the same season again ever by another player.

@@LevsShorts99 Judge is excellent, but no need to bring Ohtani down. Both are incredible players. I love Shohei and want him to win MVP, but if Judge gets it, I respect the decision.
Judge is the 6th to reach 60 home run plateau. Ohtani breaks no record because he is the record himself.
Who are these other players you speak of?
Now he's the first to reach 62 without a ridiculous amount of performance enhancing drugs. Also making him "the record itself" as it comes to A.L. homers in a season. Food for thought

The contribution is unrivaled for Sho. He's the MVP no questions asked.
@Johan Percival Sho is in my eyes and others. MANFRED will be gone soon. We know who they are catering to.
@Johan Percival you’re mad lmaoo
@Johan Percival definitely would lol you Yankee fans think judge is the clear cut mvp when he actually isn’t
@Johan Percival you put ohtani on the Yankees his era most likely improves his win totals improve he’ll hit more home runs because you can’t pitch around his as you can on the angels he helps the Yankees much more lol what happens if you put judge on the angels? He probably helps them less than ohtani did you know why ? He can’t pitch. Also if judge is on the angels his average and home runs go down because you can pitch around judge due to the angels being shit
@Johan Percival dude when did being a two way player get so overlooked lmfao only this year because people want judge to win and if you wanna bring up the fact that judge is breaking a 61 year old record well ok ohtani is breaking century old records and is in fact creating new ones of which he’s the only player in history to do so also when the Yankees were on that tear judge wasn’t the only one producing the entire team was nasty ohtani had absolutely no help outside of trout and even so was by himself when trout got hurt I ain’t taking shit away from judge the dude is on another level but he’s just not as valuable as ohtani & no I’m not someone who thinks ohtani should win every year if he has a bad year on either side of the plate he shouldn’t win BUT if he continues to be dominant on both sides yes he does deserve mvp as long as he can maintain it.
Remember, Ohtani hit 46 HRs last year. This year, he's become more lethal on the pitching mound and putting him on the list of the Cy Young candidates, though it may go to Verlander or Cease in the AL Cy Young votes - but Ohtani should finish in top 5. Ohtani is better than last year, and it's crazy that he's a great HR hitter who leads in Strikeouts per 9 innings. Nothing take away from Judge's greatness in his chase for the AL HR record for a greatest offensive season perhaps, but Shohei is having yet another historic, once-in-a-lifetime season.
So is judge
@@kytnfrancisco3667 Other players have done what Judge is doing now. Nobody has done what Ohtani is doing.
@@kytnfrancisco3667 While Judge does not have any speculations of performance enhancing drugs, hitting 60+ has been accomplished, with or without the steroids.
He has no chance for the Cy Young this season. Are you on drugs?
@@MistaGrim the only players that ever did what Judge is doing now in the lst 40 years were cheating to do it. Sosa was using corked bats and steroids. Mac steroids. Bonds HGH. And Babe Ruth did what Ohtani is doing now in 1919. Was 9-5 with a 2.97 era while hitting .322 with 29 HRs and 113 RBI.
Judge is 1st in batting average (.314), 1st in Runs (128), 4th in hits (172), 1st in HR (60 - with a 23 HR lead), 1st in RBI (128), 1st in TB (380 - with a 60 lead over EVERYONE in MLB not just AL), 1st in Walks, 1st in OBP, 1st in SLG, 1st in OPS, 1st in WAR, and 1st in OPS+. And while Judge has slightly more strikeouts than Ohtani (167 to 150), their strikeout percentage is nearly identical. Judge K's in 25% of his plate appearances this year, Ohtani K's in 24% of his plate appearances.
What the Blue Jays have done to Judge over the last 2 games is proof enough of who the MVP is. FOUR walks last night and 2 walks Monday night (1 IBB). The Red Sox, in last place, wouldn't even pitch to him the series prior.
Oh, and his team is WINNING because of HIM. The Angels aren't. Judge leads all MLB in Extra Base Hits, Total Bases, and is 2nd in Intentional Walks in the 8th and 9th inning. He has 17 HR and 40 RBI in the 8th and 9th inning when the game is on the line (8 HR and 14 RBI more than the next best MLBP).
MPV has a name it is otani. When otani is on the field is completely pleasure for us to see him.
If Ohtani played in NY this wouldn’t even be a debate
If Ohtani had the higher WAR, you guys wouldn't be acting like it doesn't matter. Last year WAR was THE stat. It was THE argument most made for Ohtani and it was right to argue it. Just like it is right to say Judge, who has the higher WAR is MVP, even though Ohtani gets war from hitting AND pitching.
@@snerdterguson Ohtani is doing things that has never been done before. That says a lot. Also if he played for a real team that could score runs he would probably have 5 or more wins. He was the unanimous winner last year….this year he is even better.
@@DEEZEEMTB wins are meaningless for a starting pitcher. No serious baseball fan even considers winning record when judging what a pitcher does. And I’ve said this like a thousand times this past month. Judge is crushing Ohtani in total WAR. It’s not close. You are just wrong. Look at judges stats. Seriously. Go look at them. You Ohtani truthers are missing the boat. What Ohtani does is spectacular . What judge has done this year is objectively and empirically better and more valuable. And it’s not really close.
And we HAVE seen this before. From him. Last year. And even if we hadn’t, uniqueness isn’t a factor in who is mvp. Nor should it be. It’s about what players do on the field to help their team win.
@@DEEZEEMTB yes. He’s better this year than last year. Judge is also better this year than Ohtani was last year AND he’s been better than Ohtani THIS year.
@@snerdterguson agree wins do not measure the performance of a pitcher. Judge has had a phenomenal season while Ohtani has had a historical one.
Ohtani
Judge is having the greatest offensive season of all time.
Shohei is having the most historic season in baseball history.
That is the real answer right there. On any other year, with any other group of players, Judge would win hands down. But when you've got Ohtani who's improved on an MVP year, having one of the greatest seasons in the history of the game..... You can want Judge to be MVP, but Ohtani is the actual MVP, and doing it in a bad team like the Angels is even more phenomenal.
@Jeff Libby so were just gonna ignore last yr and say that this yr is the best in his career?
@@letsgobrandon77 Who's ignoring last year? Ohtani is having a better season overall than last year. He's a better overall hitter, he's a MUCH better pitcher. Who's ignoring last year? Ohtani took his MVP year and IMPROVED. How many MVP's can you actually say that about
@@johnnysoccer1983 hes not a better ovr hitter than last yr dude he is a better pitcher but thats only every five days
@@letsgobrandon77 he has a higher batting average and more hits and doubles in fewer games. He might not be hitting as many homeruns or have as many RBI's (which is more a team stat as it's always higher if your team gets on base before you are up to hit). So, yeah, he's actually a better hitter, he's just not hitting as many HR's really. Hitting isn't just about HR's, despite how stats focus on them more than anything else most of the time when comparing top hitters. It's actually sad that genuine hitters who aren't HR hitters get overlooked. But, again, you only look at 1 aspect at a time and make a whole judgement on the player based on 1, maybe 2 aspects at any given time. You need to learn to look at the whole picture.
Not really a debate when you have Ohtani it’s like having 2 all-star players in one person
Otani offense ain’t that great this year 32 homers who gives a shit he has struck out 149 Times and is hitting .260 that’s not a great offensive season bud and that’s coming from a DH yikes.
@@early_crypto_investor4451 and here's the problem, this clip acknowledges that Otani is a top 10 batter and a top 10 pitcher in 1 player. 50 against 100 judges?
I don't think so
I think there is at least 100:85.
How big is the difference between the judges' results and Ohtani's batting results?
It's been discussed, and I think this is about 65 for Ohtani against 100 Judge.
It's a win for the Judge.
But MVP is not the best hitter. Best player.
Judge 100 points for batter only.
Ohtani has 65 points as a hitter and 85 points as a pitcher that is comparable to Cole.
150 points if you clear both regulation turn at bats and regulation number of pitches.
Otani wins overwhelmingly.

@@Grande79 Judge is the MVP. Aaron Judge is underrated. He is an outstanding player who has the potential to win MVP again next year.
In the last 25 years alone there's been 18 players who hit 50 to 60 home runs, just 4 years ago Stanton had 59, and next year another player will hit a bunch of home runs and they'll say he's the best, but it's been over 100 years since a player dominated pitching & hitting at the same time, a player that's on pace for 35 HRs with 100 RBIs and 15 Wins 2.30 ERA 220 Ks should be the unaimous MVP🏆
If Otani wins 15 games as a pitcher and hits 40 HRs as a hitter and does not win the MVP, he will be remembered by history.
@@osakasenri7352 I've been saying this since mid season....Ohtani has already done enough to be a Hall of Famer in just these past 2 seasons. He's the real MVP, but politics and personal biases may have a different say in the end.

Judge accepts and the first dual MVPs are named. They are impressed by each others humbleness. Judge joins the angels. Trout judge and ohtani split it 3 ways next year after winning 130 games.
Lol idk if MLB would even allow them to share but there was this high jump competition, can't remember what one though, about a year ago, that the two guys kept failing to complete the jump on the same height and were tied, they decided to call it a day and share the award. Aaron judge is better at everything else other then pitching aaron deserves the mvp over ohtani its sad this is even a debate
@@LevsShorts99 And Ohtani is one of the best starting pitchers IN THE GAME. THAT'S THE POINT. A pure hitter who only focuses on hitting SHOULD have better hitting stats than ANY 2-way player... And yet, Ohtani is right there close behind him, WITH INSANE PITCHING STATS AS WELL. Ohtani is the real MVP. If you have to take away his pitching, which is arguably his best asset right now, just to compare them to make Judge look better....then you're already losing this argument before it begins. The fact he's doing what he's doing AS A PITCHER is the point. Take your bias out of the equation.... Would you say Judge deserved it over Babe Ruth's best 2-way season? Put Ohtani on the Yankees lineup and he would win every game and probably has a lower ERA because he'd always have good run support. He would hit more HR's as you can't pitch around him like you can with the Angels. Now take Judge and put him in the Angels lineup. They probably have a worse record with Judge as he can't win games by himself like Ohtani can. No question Aaron Judge is one of the reasons why the Yankees are top in their East division but was he the SOLE reason why the Yankees were the best team in AL and had the best record in baseball at the All-Star break? the answer is NO, he wasn't. The Yankees had three players with 25 home runs (Judge, Stanton and Rizzo) and 6 other players with 10 or more home runs, they also have 3 amazing pitchers (Cole, Tailon and Cortes). The Yankees were the best team in baseball at the all-star break when everyone was healthy and playing, would the Yankees still be the best team in Baseball if Stanton and Rizzo and Cortes were OUT of the lineup from the start of the season? The answer is no, the Yankees would not be the best team or even division leader if their key players were unhealthy to play, and I am doubtful they would even be in the top three wild cards spot either.
NYY: Today 2022-09-12
1st in Home run (217)
1st in Runs per game.
2nd ERA 3.28
After the All-Star break, the Yankees played the Houston Astros and were beaten up like little leaguers, then August happened and key players Stanton, Rizzo and Cortes were out and they went 8-18 in the months of August, they had the worse team record in 30 years. How did Aaron Judge carry this team in August if they went 8-18 if they had the worse record in 30 years? Without Judge the Yankees would still be 8-18 or worse, and it wasn't like he wasn't producing, he batted over. 300+ with an OPS of 1.100+, with 9 home runs in August. They had a 17 games lead on the Tampa Bay Rays on August 1st and by September 1st it's down to 6 games lead, today 4.5 game lead over the Rays. Now imagine if the Yankees didn't have a 17 game lead over the Rays by August 1st, let's say 10 game lead over the Rays, where would the Yankees be today? they would likely be in 3rd or 4th in the wild card spot, and the Rays and Blue Jays would be first and second.
So I don't understand the notion and argument that Aaron Judge is carrying his team or the reason why this team would be fighting for the wild card spot right now. The reason why the Yankees are still in the first place is that they had a massive 17 game lead over the Tampa Bay Rays by being the BEST TEAM in AL, not because of Judge alone, his contribution wasn't even a factor in August. Stanton and Rizzo had 25 homers and Judge had 33 homers at the all-star break, take Stanton and Rizzo out would the Yankees still have a 17 game lead over the Rays by August 1st? Just looked at what happened when Stanton and Rizzo and Cortes didn't play, they went 8-18.
How is Aaron Judge carrying his team again if the Yankees were 8-18 in August?
this is the first good argument ive seen made in these comments nice job bro
One player can't carry an entire team... it's a ridiculous argument that people try to make. Ted Williams, arguably the greatest hitter to ever play the game, only made it to the playoffs once.

Somebody explain to me how Ohtani's WAR went down from 9.0 yesterday to 8.9 today after pitching 5 innings with 2 ER and 7 Ks and hitting 1 single and 1 RBI...makes no sense. Judge eats breakfast and his WAR goes up by 0.1
WAR is BS! Ohtani is getting robbed with WAR and idiots continue to refer to this number when talking about who should get the MVP.
This video not updated since Judge currently has 60 hrs and in the video he says 55
If Judge has War then Ohtani has Peace and the fans love of Baseball
I love how WAR has been used repeatedly to show how great Mike Trout even when other players are statistically having much better seasons and now all of a sudden LA fans stop using WAR as the end all be all statistic because they think Ohtani should be mvp. Such a double standard
@@TheHotMafia The last time I checked Mike Trout is not a pitcher. Do you know the variable that goes into the calculation of WAR? The player's position! There is no variable for a player's whose position is pitcher/hitter/DH.
Ohtani, of course. Not only by his feats as a player/pitcher but he also brought a new sense of awareness in the team.

@@henkmarks8856 wrong. You need to win to draw, and the Angels haven't made the playoffs since 2014. The Angels had an increased attendance of only 3,000 after Ohtani's rookie year. They've had 800,000 LESS attendance this year compared to that. 3,023,012 in 2019 compared to 2,311,143 this season, that's a huge drop off and proof that what he's doing isn't as big of a draw as WINNING is. The Yankees meanwhile are on pace to match their 2019 attendance. "Well it's better to watch the games at home"...the Yankees are #1 for viewership this year averaging 205,422 viewers per game. I can't even find the viewership for the Angels because the Dodgers dominate the market so much there. But if you extrapolate other media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc impressions), the Angels would be in the bottom half of the league viewership.
LOL judge is going to easily get the MVP and the vote will likely not be close. Ill come back to roast you lol
Ohtani!!!! What he's doing has never been done at the level he's doing it. Others have hit 60+ hrs.
Judge will win MVP... but Ohtani is the best baseball player on the planet
Ohtani plays two-way and still getting those he has. Ohtani hits every day then pitches every 5-6 days. Remember Ohtani has to prepare for both, attend both pitcher and hitter meetings- all season!! Imagine Judge trying to do that. No chance.
For someone to have as incredible a season as he did last year, and then IMPROVE on that in most aspects of his game IN A LOSING TEAM is beyond MVP level. Ohtani has already put himself down as a future Hall of Famer. To then turn around and deny him MVP after improving on his game in both batting and especially on his pitching (aside from HR's and RBI's as team has more of an impact on RBI's anyways).... It's all but unheard of. To be a top 10 batter OR pitcher is an incredible feat for ANYONE. To be top 10 in BOTH AT THE SAME TIME.... That's insanity. The fact is, any pure hitter SHOULD have better hitting stats than a 2-way star...... But the fact he's close in stats to Judge, AND puts up the crazy pitching stats he does at the same time? That's beyond next level. And to do it all in a losing team that would be bottom of the ladder without him there? That's god-like.
Judge is having an incredible season as a hitter, but there's another factor none of this takes into account. Judge plays more games in smaller parks. One easy way to look at it is to see how many triples the Angels have knocked in vs the Yankees. 29 to 8 in favour of the Angels. Take Judge and put him in a team playing on bigger parks with fewer people around him hitting well, and watch his stats drop rapidly. Park size should also be considered imo., though that'd be near impossible to calculate how it should impact anything.
agree
Almost all of judges home runs would have gone out in almost every ballpark that don’t mean crap.
@@andrewstark207 out of all of that, this is the only problem you have? Not only does a smaller park mean some would have gone that wouldn't in other parks, but it also changes the mentality of pitchers and hitters knowing it's easier to hit them. I'd explain more about it, but given how single minded you appear to be, I fear it'd just go over your head like the main points of my original comment.....With that said, Ohtani would have several more HR's if he played the same sized parks the Yankees did all season.
I love them both. I'm a tigers fan and I remember Miggys triple crown and all the arguments about how trout deserved mvp over him. I didn't think so then but I do now...which is why I can definitely see the pro Ohtani stance. Both are fully deserving of mvp
I dunno man... Judge is slugging for sure.
But Sluggers come and go. We've seen players of his caliber every now and then.
Shohei on the other hand is re-writing the history books, with records that have held for a century.
Yankees can push the media all they want, but I just don't see Judge beating Ohtani.
Buddy judge is having the best season off ALL time think about that for a sec out of decades and decades of baseball this is by far the best for a guy who didnt use steroids judge deserves it over ohtani 100% judge is better at everything besides pitching this is sad this is even a debate
@@LevsShorts99 Yes it is a sad thing that there is even a debate. Ohtani is the MVP by far. Objectively, not by Yankees fan boy standards.
Buddy.
Sorry for Aaron but the real MVP for MLB is Ohtani. HIs team record is not a factor, its all about who is the best player in the league and with out a doubt its Ohtani.
Before Shohei, if any pitcher did what he did this year they would be MVP.
Both are having an MVP year. Both deserve the MVP. They gave out 2 MVP awards in the same league before (1979). Both made history. My opinion
Give them both the MVP award.
Nope.Judge deserves it.👍
This is one of the harder ones but I have always believed it should be Ohtani. Aaron is making it closer and closer each game. If he doesn't win, it will be because of the angel's record, especially compared to the Yankees.

Ohtani season is good but come on, he has played zero meaningful games since the first month of the season and when the games were meaningful he didn’t play as well. Pressure has to play a part
Ohtani is making his own records every game he plays. Judge is on his way to break a record, one that will be broken again in the future.
One dimensional player vs. multi dimensional player. No question, Ohtani.
Ohtani. Hands down.
Co-MVP at least for Shohei...what a player and Godsend for baseball
Will we be more excited about...
1) Seeing someone breaking the record that Aaron Judge will make this year?
OR
2) Seeing someone having similar batting AND pitching stats to those of this year's Ohtani?
Well, technically 1) can happen every year. There are opportunities in all baseball year.
But for 2), you will not have a chance to see it unless there is a pitcher who slugs throughout the season and reaches regulation at batting.
And we know we are deciding the most VARUABLE player, not a player with the best record.
YOUR WELCOME.
Imo, it's hard not to give it to Judge after tying up a HR record. But it also seems unfair to leave Ohtani out of it. Can't both be MVPs? One for the NL and the other for the AL. These guys are absolutely out of this world!
I totally agree with you. Hope voters will listen to this.
Seems almost Everyone is saying "Ohtani" on this comment, so why it can be "Judge"? It doesn't make any sence even if some reporter's opinions are arbitrary for some reason.
Even the Angels' fielders say that when Ohtani is in the mound, the game gets boring coz hitters cant deal with Shohei.
Ohtani deserves it, bcuz its easy hitting home runs if u play in Yankee stadium (with those short walls lmaoo) majority of the time. If Ohtani was playing their then he'd already have 50 hr by now.
Yeah maybe but almost all of judges homers would have gone out in any ballpark! I do still agree though that it’s Ohtani’s award
consider the value of two people
① Judge = 2 people with 31 home runs. Ohtani = 1 homer with 34 + 1 pitcher with 15 wins. Which do most directors want?
② What if Ohtani was the Yankees? Ohtani has over 20 wins. If the Yankees had a small stadium, they would have hit plus 10 home runs.
③ Which player does the owner want as a business?
Judge is having a very good season. Ohtani is having a season no one in the history of the sport has ever had. There's no question who should win MVP in my book.

WAR was never intended for player like Ohtani. He's already at a disadvantage when WAR gives Ohtani a negative positional adjustment of around -1.5 for being a DH. Also, WAR doesn't count the rest he doesn't get between pitching starts( pitchers get 4-5 days rest between starts).
Even with an adjusted WAR to account for a more reasonable -1 or so disparity Judge still edges out Ohtani. It's rather nearsighted to hail Ohtani's excellent contribution outside of the batters box without acknowledging Judge and his top ten outfielding in the league every day.
OHTANI IS THE BEST PLAYER FOR MANY REASON MISSING ALL PLAYERS OF ⚾ BASEBALL. 1. PERHAPS HE IS NOT THE BEST PITCHER BUT HE IS GOOD DOING IT. 2 HE IS DANGEROUS BATTING 34 HOME RUNS SAYS ENOUGHT, 3. RUNING THE BASES HE IS SPECTACULAR 4. GOOD MOOD 5. EXCELENT DISCIPLINE
Ohtani should be MVP!
Just ask Brian Cashman who would he rather sign to a long term deal.

@@nicholausbell2749 I mean, yeah.
That’s sort of the draw of him being a 2-way player.
Although, if he focused solely on hitting, with his power and plate discipline, he’d probably still be a top-ten hitter.
@@nicholausbell2749 weird ass comment
Ohtani has 3 things going against him - 1) What he's doing this year he essentially did last year so his accomplishment has lost some of it's luster, 2) Judge plays on the Yankees which is the biggest team in baseball and gets the most attention, 3) Chics dig the long ball - meaning HRs draw more attention. Judge is also in the midst of breaking 61 HR, which most true baseball fans deem the real non-roid era HR record. He's also in the midst of a triple crown battle. That's all great, but if you truly break things down, Ohtani is the MVP. And MVP isn't the most valuable team player... that hasn't been true for many decades. It's the best player in the league. So here's the breakdown - there are 162 games in a season. If you break the season down by 6 months that is a perfect 27 games per month. As of 9/24; Judge has (60) HR (128) RBI to Ohtani (34) HR (90) RBI. Broken down per month, Judge averages 4.3 more HR and 6.3 RBI. So broken down by week (4 weeks per month) that's about 1 extra HR and 1 1/2 RBI. Is an extra HR and 1.5 RBI per week over the course of an entire season worth 26 games started as a pitcher with 153 innings at a 2.47 ERA? Nope... not even close. Both players are deserving of the award and if ever there was a season the two players shared a C0-MVP, this would be it.

Shohei Ohtani was obviously the best player on the Angels in 2022. The reigning MVP was arguably even better this season than last. If Aaron Judge didn't have the historic season he just had, Ohtani would be the easy choice for AL MVP once again.
Ohtani slashed .273/.356/.519 with 34 home runs and 95 RBI. His hitting was not as good as last season, but he was still among the best in the American League at the plate.
Ohtani finished seventh in the American League with a 142 WRC+. He ranked sixth in OPS and fourth in home runs. He was without a doubt one of the best hitters in the American League.
Of course, what makes Ohtani special is his ability to be a two-way superstar. He had his best pitching season by far in his time as an Angel.
The right-hander went 15-9 with a 2.33 ERA in 28 starts. He struck out an American League-leading 11.9/9 while walking just 2.4/9. His 1.012 WHIP ranked fifth in the American League while his 172 ERA+ ranked fourth in the AL.
Ohtani finally pitched enough innings to qualify for the ERA title and he finished fourth in the AL in that category.
Shohei Ohtani's 2022 campaign was another all-around ridiculous season that nobody has ever and will ever duplicate.
They should create another award for Ohtani this year. Or give MVP for both players.
If Aaron Judge wins MVP this time, the possibility of Ohtani winning MVP next year will disappear. Because he will have to finish at the top of the list either as a pitcher or a hitter. That is impossible.
If Aaron Judge does NOT win mvp, it shows that no position player can win mvp over Ohtani so long as Ohtani is healthy.
That does not matter when Ohtani consistently batting top 7 in the league while fanning close to 170 k's with a sub 3.00 era. Judge is by far a better slugger but what ohtani has done is something you cannot replace. I still believe judge will mvp based on his excellence at the plate and I want him too, but it is very rare that a batter puts up the numbers judge is putting up. Meanwhile Ohtani is putting these numbers up every season consistently. To conclude this debate, unless a batter can hit 50-60 hr every season, ohtani will win mvp so long as he is healthy
But Ohtani did finish close to the top of hitting last year while being #1 in HRs during a big part of the season except towards the end
Put them head to head. J pitches, fields and bats to O and O does the same for J. I think you have your answer. 😁

I could be wrong. But I always thought that the most VALUABLE player award goes to which player was more VALUABLE to their respective teams. Ohtani is one of the best players I've ever seen but where are the the Angels rn? Take Judge away and the Yanks aren't in the playoffs.
MVP is Ohtani ⚾⚾⚾
Being top 10 in hitting or pitching would be considered pretty damn good, so when you can do both it's unheard of and nothing anyone else has ever been able to do in baseball since it's inception. I do not understand how a #1 hitter can ever be considered when he can't pitch at all in comparison. Some talking head said then we might as well give Ohtani the MVP every year if he beats Judge this year. Yes, that's true and I absolutely agree because no one can do what Ohtani does, much less be that good at both at the MLB level.
I would vote Ohtani. Judge is an amazing player. But Ohtani’s record has not broken for 104 years even by steroid users. 8RBI and 13 k in24hrs period will not be recreated except by Ohtani. And so many more history breaking records.
being able to hit a lot of home runs doesn't make you most valuable automatically. You can watch people hit a lot of home runs in home run derbies.
Yankees fan since I was a kid and Judge is awesome !! However, I tune in and watch Shohei whenever possible..it's mind boggling what he's been doing
Let's be honest. If Judge gets even a single first place vote whoever voted for him to take it over Ohtani needs to have their voting privileges revoked permanently.
There's simply no case to be had. Judge is a terrific batter, and absolutely great for the game as a whole. But Ohtani does both pitching and hitting BOTH at the elite level and while it may seem unfair to Judge since he can't do both like that, giving even a single 1st place vote to Judge out of pity or whatever other reason, is simply punishing Ohtani and baseball as a whole for him being too damn excellent.
Any Manager, who isn't lying through their teeth, who had both on the same team and absolutely HAD TO cut one of them would cut Judge without even a second thought. Ohtani is simply too valuable to a team for anyone to realistically overcome him. That also works in the financial sense as well, Ohtani puts asses in seats and eyes on tvs all over the world...Judge....doesn't. Judge gets his greatness displayed prominently, for the usual great hitter scale anyway, mostly because he's 1. A great hitter 2. Is likeable and 3. Plays for the Yankees. Meanwhile Ohtani is on a shit team, that hasn't had a real chance of winning anything for decades, yet the stands are always full despite them being damn near empty every game before he signed there....and they STILL had Mike Trout who himself is also far superior to Judge.
There's no argument to be made for Judge that isn't based entirely on biased nonsense. All you have to do is LOOK and it's easy to tell who the MVP is. Shohei is damn near impossible and yet here he is. He won unanimously last year and deserved to, he's had a better year this year and again deserves to win unanimously once again.
There's exactly one player in the MLB currently who can realistically challenge Shohei every year for MVP, if he keeps this ridiculousness up, and he happens to play on the same team as Ohtani himself.
The only other player I think who has a chance to put himself up to that level when he fully matures is Juan Soto. And even then it'd take Ohtani falling off in a major way for anyone to beat him out for MVP...IF the damn thing was voted for properly anyway.
