I’m really glad to watch these videos with you talking. This info is invaluable to anyone who is interested. I expect even more so to those who only speak English. Thanks 🙏
I've just learned of these kits and already have the Lum Camel on the way. I have recently got back into modelling after taking a long enforced break for health reasons, now I have regained around 95%of my mobility on my left side I feel I can enjoy the hobby once again.
This kit finally arrived today. When I opened it and saw the complexity of the instructions, the number of pieces and the one page "correction" insert, I was ...terrified! I'm glad for this video. cheers
I’ve only recently come across your videos, but I find them very informative as well as relaxing to watch. It’s great to hear you talk about a hobby and a profession that you enjoy so much; it really shows through I’m not only WHAT you say, but how you say it. Looking forward to watching more of your videos in the future. 👍🏻👍🏻
Hello Chris and welcome 🙏 Thank you very much for the kind words and feedback and yes I think you are exactly right. I think I’m finally feeling comfortable enough to relax into being myself instead of trying to be some UA-cam guy... and thankfully the videos are more watchable. 😊 Will keep working at improving and sharing 👍
So glad you are doing these videos. Since watching these I've been inspired to buy four Ma.K kits. The Hornisse, Kuster, GroBer Hund and the Altair. I'm about ready to start the Hund and I look forward to using several of the techniques you've demonstrated in your videos.
You are such a delight listening to, I really enjoy how much I learn from this format of "ramble"-history video :) I haven't really given the Großer Hund much though, but this made me want one for my little collection :D
I enjoy the background on the franchise, and the background on its creation and path through time, but what I really want and can’t find much of online is the lore of the different sides and factions. Is every kit specific to a certain side? Can the mk44 be used by either side? Is the lunadiver only for a specific side? How about the falke ? I build and paint these things but I like to be lore accurate so I need all the info I can get. Love your channel and your Reverence for the hobby in general. Keep it up
as a rule of thumb the suits with german names are strahl, except the nutrocker which is also strahl. but i imagine suits would be captured and reused by either side much like captured tanks in real conflicts!
I'll do a show talking about the lore. Not the actual lore itself but how it is meant to be used and interpreted. Thanks for watching and commenting, appreciate the support!
There is a great website called Maschinen Kreuger who has listed all their builds into the various factions. The Wikipedia page is also great for a bit of backstory.
Great vid Linc. Such a fantastic looking kit. Would really love an in depth review of a finished build. Articulation, posability, accesories etc. I need to find me one of these!
Great video! So glad you decided to continue on with the history and background stories of "the making of" Ma.K. Thanks, Linc! Any ideas on where to learn more about the lore of the Ma.K universe?
Glad you enjoyed it! Well the lore is actually on the boxes. This is part of the fun, piecing it together like off the back of the old sugar packets. Each box reveals a little more of this world. Crazy idea but it's worked!
The detail of this plastic kit is outstanding, once built it actually looks as if its been an impossible build with those cables and clear len's but everything comes together easily (it did for me) and the decals, the Ma.k decals are the best on the market its just a shame you can't buy them separate and if you could, they wouldn't be cheap
Love the rambles! I really like those MaK kits they look very gundam esq to me! I’m also a big fan of the Battle of Britain - my grandfather was one of the engineers who designed all those planes wings during the war :)
@@PaintonPlasticbyLincolnWright I am, thank you. your videos always help (also, as a footnote, I first encounteed the Ma.K Modelling Book 2 and loved it so much I hunted down the first volume all over Tokyo, eventually finding it in Mandarake, Shibuya)
Very informative and entertaining video! Your pronounciation of Kröte is spot on! Remember when you called to discuss Zyklop over Kyklop that morning (your lunch break). Keep posting , mate!
@@PaintonPlasticbyLincolnWright no, thank you for these insightful videos. We all have some story or connection why the models mean something to us, I have mine why they're special to me. Your commentary adds another dimension to that
All this info on the background of Ma.K, both the production and the lore, is really interesting to me. I've been a fan of the property and built kits for years now, but could never find much info beyond the most basic outlines.
Super stuff Linc! Thanks for the background information and sparking the Ma.K. fire back into me. I've been in and out of model building since the mid-1960's. I was living in Germany back in the 1980's when the Ma.K. stuff first started hitting the hobby shops. As a WWII armor modeller, I really liked the futuristic take that Ma.K. was bringing to the hobby. I still have a few of those original NITTO kits in my stash. I think I'll dust them off and give them a go! Horrido! (German version of "Tally-Ho!")
I’ve been thinking about dipping my toe into Ma.K. since I heard you on the Plastic Posse Podcast, and found this kit when I was looking around eBay. It looks like a nice kit. The paint colours almost look like a late war German tri-colour scheme. Would it be acceptable in the Ma.K. universe to adapt this slightly into a German hinterhalt (ambush) pattern used in the second half of 1944? (Can you tell I’m normally an armour guy?)
Hello Bruce, welcome. Yes, I am also an armour guy and an airplane guy but let's keep that a secret between us! Yes, Ma.K looks very good in both AFV and AIR patterns from all sides of WWII, slightly adapted of course and we usually don't keep the full insignia. Unit markings or nose art seems to travel well but nationality or forces markings seem a little out of place. Yes, your paint collection will look right at home, have fun!
There's so many in each kit, I just keep the ones I don't use and end up with so many but yes, you can also buy them. WAVE, Kotobukiya and Hi-Q Parts all sell fine examples.
Great content! Keep it up Linc! Couple of words: I'm in the middle of building this kit now, and yes, it is an absolute seam fest! But! That's ok because it's just basic model building: file, fill, file, and sand all those seams (and the occasional punch marks... Oh, and the way the parts are attached to the sprues is different...) If you're the kind of model builder who wants to be able to do the minimum required for the build so that you can get right into the painting, well, this kit might disappoint you because you really do need to take your time on the build to get the best result. But ya know, getting back to the basics is a good thing sometimes. In the end this kit is a fun build because, in spite of the seams, everything goes together really well and you've got this huge, very cool creation. And very unique (disregarding it's variants). If you get a chance to purchase a Grosserhund kit

The black plastic never really bothered me. Not great, not terrible. If anything, I cannot stand the silver plastic Kow likes (as far as I know). It makes it very hard to spot issues before priming.
@@TheKGBtsar that's actually quite probably, because I remember the snow camo Falke I saw him paint from the start was first coated with silver - I didn't know about the old Hasegawa kits so that's fascinating. Next time I have the chance, I'll ask!
