I am a fan of using a semicolon for csv files in general, it's a pretty distinct character that is clearly a separator and avoids the situations where comma is reserved for something else in the data set. But of course, the pipe symbol is fine as well. I just find it it's a bit more confusing for me to read it as a separator in a block of text when checking the csv output, as it looks too similar to the letters I and lowercase l. Just make sure whatever character you choose is not used by the text itself, that will completely mess up the file.
Tip: after your done making flashcards make a cheat sheet of the answers with definition so when you have to memorize the key terms it will be easier cause you have a deleted explanation sheet for every definition.
