He was born to make music and he did it to the end. Beautiful. It sounds to me like he is crying, not because of sadness, but because of feeling of achievement. Yes he did indeed.
My first experience with this song was in HS stage band as a drummer and always loved the melody. As I grew up I discovered the lyrics and truth of the song. Mr. Bacharachs performance is absolutely heart-wrenching and so beautiful. God Bless and Rest The Man.
At 90-something-years-old he brought this song to a different level compared to when he was young[er]. This teach us no matter how old you are you still can be creative.
Touching to see Burt (my music hero) playing this magnificent song he wrote with the great late Hal David, performing. Burt is not only such a fantastic composer, but also a brilliant piano player too! Burt and Hal the two of you has written so many great and timeless songs together and i would like to say, thank you Burt and Hal, thank you for all these unforgetable songs!!
Very emotional to see Burt at 92 years old singing this amazing song. This journey that never ends since the 60's. Very emotional. Thank you. Regards from Brazil.
Oh my god … my dad is up there looking down at me still crying since he left me in 2001 . We will always listen to Burt together dad . I love you and miss you dad .
Burt Bacharach did magic when he wrote this song. One of the most beautiful and haunting songs ever written. It's complex. It soars upwards then comes in for a soft landing and back up again. Beautiful.
I am consoled by the fact that he was able to do what he loves most which is playing the piano until the end. I love you Burt! He's now playing and singing with the angels.
c'e' qualcosa in questa canzone, in questa interpretazione, in questa emozione che va oltre le nuvole... un magia indescrivbile.. da ascoltare un miliardo di volte.... e poi di nuovo..
Let me extend a heartfelt "Thank You, Burt!" on behalf of our American people for your IMMENSE contribution, as God's tonal blessing upon us. You are indeed a "NATIONAL TREASURE". Your "Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid" album is a masterpiece back in 1969 at Ohio State University. Amazing to think, you were given the ultimate choice to give up on piano lesson at your parents' dismay, and then you chose to persevere on your own volition when there was no coercion. Old age humbles the heart in repentance for the several things we wish could erase and do differently, yet rejoice for all the wonderful relationships and blessings we shared with others. May the blessings of our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ, be upon you and your family as you leave this house for your eternal home. THANK YOU, BURT BACHARACH!
I will always be in love with Burt Bacharach. Magically spread love and joy for over 60 years. Fathomless heart & soul. Still his handsome self, exceptional pianist & moving singer, on the magnificent "A House is Not a Home," One of my all-time favorites of his catalogue of fabulous songs - all embedded in my heart. Dusty is looking on, proud.
OMG he's so incredible. Bringing more passion to this beautiful classic of his than I have ever heard anyone else bring to it. He wrote it, he lived it. God bless you Burt for still singing and playing so beautifully at 92!! You still can break hearts! I love you! What an inspiration!
I really love his music since I was almost a baby. He's one of the biggest geniuses of our time. A world that is leaving us. God bless Mr. Burt Bacharach
I hate it when we lose some of the great artists, composers, even an occasional actor, who have gone on to their reward! It makes me feel very old because some of their talents were absolutely mesospheric, far above normal for most humans. They will never be forgotten because their marks on lives are permanent and everlasting! I felt that way when Michel Legrand, Frank Sinatra and Nancy Wilson died just a few years, months or days ago and now, Bacharach, but they impacted a lot of people with their talent and will probably extend into the next century or longer! We never knew Bach or Tchaikovsky or Chopin, but centuries later, we're still honoring them by playing and hearing their music! No doubt some 20th and 21st century artists will join those greats whom we still remember and enjoy.
What an amazing talented man! I've enjoyed your music since I was a child and my mother would play your albums. Thank you for your timeless contribution to our world & I agree, Alfie by Dionne Warwick is still amazing...the lyrics are beautiful. Thank you Mr. Bacharach!
Wow, he's still got it! LOVE this song! I have always dreamed of performing a set of Burt Bacharach and Hal David songs . . . Moving, beautiful. What a great musician.
That just brings a pang to my heart, seeing and hearing Burt, still playing and singing with emotion, the words he and Hal wrote for this beautiful song, that always touches my heart! It's the words: "I'm not meant to live alone, turn this house into a home, when I climb the stair and turn the key, oh, please be there still in love with me." says it all! He had two more years to live after the above performance, I am sure he's leading a choir of angels, singing this song now! RIP, Burt Bacharach 5/12/1928 to 2/8/2023 age 94. Thank you for all you gave us!
February 2020 before the world was turned upside down. I was so very fortunate to hear and see this performance in person. I cried as I listened to him. He walked over to me at the end of the Q&A, took my hand and thanked me for attending. So thankful I had the opportunity to tell him just how much his music means to me. He was gracious and let me go on and on. ❤ I just love Burt!
Nobody does it Like Luther Vandross does!!! Thank You Hal David and Burt Bacharach for collaborating on writing such a beautiful song, You 2 are amazing writers. Luther really breathed your song to life.
