For all you Donna haters out there, whenever she came in for her first solo in this song ("There's a band out on the highway....") the place would go NUTS and she sounded great. The best period for the band by far.....
This song is maybe the best pro-Donna argument you can make. It never sounded anywhere near as good after she left.
@@88wildcat I have always loved her contributions. Never got to see her as that was before I started seeing them, but I love France.
If you don't enjoy this, we can't be friends
lmao!
Not looking for new friends anyway. The band is in the pocket despite the vocals.
@@LGguedo _what?_ _what?_
@@LGguedo What's with these haters who knock Donna Jean?
@@Kimber123 guess you are calling me an idiot. Right on man.
Just don’t dig her vocals and often find her off key and mostly sings in Forte. She was beautiful and seems like a wonderful person. Just not a fan of her contribution.
I don’t see how your videos have such low viewings. These videos are gold
Seems like they were reuploaded recently for some reason
@@xevanx99 I found out why. They sold out, if you look in the description it gives you a link to Wolfgang’s music where you pay by month to watch concert footage. These are the select few they reuploaded.
Jerry would disapprove.
Because everyone has gone bye bye off to oblivion
@@kyle-style Right, cuz he never did anything for money. Get a clue.
A true gem. I happen to think this was the Dead's best line up. Donna Jean cemented some great work in the band,
No doubt!
This is amazing
Donna rocking it
Yes, she is ❤⚡⚡⚡
I guess I’m the only one that can’t stand her on this song. I find her off key and off rhythm on this track.
@@LobotomyMeatno, there are many of us.
@@LobotomyMeat You must have distorted hearing. She is great!!!!!!!!!!
Love Donna’s voice in all versions of this song. Rock on!!!
Saw them live several times in the seventies but can't remember my first show or many thereafter.
Love Donna’s voice and Jerry matchs her on his jam down the backside!
I'd give anything to have been able to see one of these shows. I've been to so many festivals, seen so many jam bands, rock bands, electronic producers, but I've never been to a show that even comes close to touching this.
Just alking about her today, loooveee me sum Donna Jean in my life!! ** Sorry y'all, CA got to me;):)!!
Best Donna jean cut eva
Cornell was around the corner and the dead were hitting their stride..

Who's on the drums?
Bill Kreutzmann on the left and Mickey Hart on the right.
So who is the Greateful Dead, and why do they keep following me????¿¿?¿??¿??¿¿?
And husband Keith is a fucking corpse at 6:30. Dude, how about a little effort?
To much too soon # Shows. Donna Alert.
Kieth phoned it in at the end of his run with them
you could clearly see why Jerry wanted Donna and Keith out of the band!
At least give full context, Jerry loved them both enough to have them in his solo band it's just that every member of the Grateful Dead was historically out of their fucking minds lol
@@newusernamehere4772 This song isn't the same without Donna but Keith really isn't contributing much on this version.
RIP Keith Godchaux and Jerry Garcia
Donna killed it!
The goose?
Jerry was HIM! Holy SHIT, this was UNFUCKINREAL! Can I get a witness? We miss you Jerry, your spirit is still moving people today. The music will NEVER stop!
D.O.N.N.A!!!!!!!!!!!
Badass Jerry - shades of things to come on this tour. Saw them a week or so later at Cornell and then again that summer at Englishtown. What a great era and to have some of this on video is awesome. Enjoy!
You lucky bastard.
I will forever believe this is DONNA'S SONG
Love Bobby with a beard.
Brings back good memories~! My Favorite G>Dead song.~!
70s Bobble and Donna?
Fucking Nirvana ❤️
Jerry Lives ❤
they played Portland Maine in the late '70s and played this tune, I was an instant fan. I must say this version falls short of expectations, but that is the Dead.
2 People aren't kind...
its hot for seven weeks now
F''kin'Jerrry.
Looks like Keith wasn't having much fun. Maybe he and Donna had a fight backstage.
woof!
💃🏽🕺
There are otherworldly and absolute lightening bolts that express goodness, truth, and beauty, and a very happy and healthy Jerry playing guitar here, once again taking us up into the stratosphere, is most certainly included in those objective values. Mercy beans, I love this! It always makes me smile and leaves me a bit nostalgic -- happy/sad simultaneously. The longings of old dead head, I guess. John Mayer just doesn't cut. I nearly always end up rocking my head up and down like the Jersey girl in the front row when I search for and find this spring '77 tune on UA-cam. It is always a reliable and happy Sunday night diversion as I brace myself for the coming week.
This version smokes! My favourite TMNS. Jerry rocking out at 6:31 says it all.
