Leading on from other comments; This Star One song was inspired by the BBC television show 'Blake's Seven' written by Terry Nation in the late 70's/early 80's. Nation created The Daleks for Doctor Who in 1963, and this 4-Season Sci-Fi series followed the exploits of 7 fugitives on the run from The Federation. The name of their commandeered ship is 'The Liberator'. Greetings from Neolithic England.
Damien Wilson has an amazing voice, which works well with the wonderful Maggie Luyten plus the equally great backing singers of Irene Jansen, Lisette Van Den Berg and probably one of the best singers ever Marcela Bovio.
Damian Wilson is the man, also I've heard the voice of Magali Luyten described as "a voice that could strip rust of Titanic". Sounds about right. The players doing an amazing job as usual and cool guest performance by Peter Vink. I have to love a man who will unabashedly use a bubble gum pink bass. It all fits great into the song.
That base player Peter already played in the 1960s and was with Arjen in early 2003. Here he is well in his 70s of age and invited by Arjen. He starts at a certain ease until Joost crancks the pace up😅
Arjen likes the scifi stories. This is a fun song. Floor's sister Irene is in the Arjen Angels female singers. You really need to check out Marcela Bovio. The little redhead on the right. She is a stunning vocalist. She did this from her home studio shortly after her recovery from cancer. ua-cam.com/video/LpvAhy6mSP4/v-deo.html - Muse - Muscle museum (symphonic cover by Marcela Bovio)
After seeing a few of these I went back to Star One live 2003. There the only female vocalists are Floor and Irene Jansen. Plus Arjen Anthony Lucassen ( the creator of Ayreon Star One, plus other projects) actually sings and plays. There is an early version of Valley of the Queens !! By the way don't miss The Eye of Ra at this concert.
One of my favorite Arjen songs. This is not an Ayreon song but is from another of Arjen's projects, Star One. For these rare live shows Arjen typically adds songs from his other projects at the end of the set list. Star One songs are inspired by sc fi movies or TV shows. Intergalactic Space Crusaders is inspired by the British TV show Blake's Seven from the 70s.
As a part of opera's Ayreon songs may have an argument between the singers. Like this one. Also in Isis and Osiris where the Roman (Edwin Balogh) and the Egyptian (Anneke van Giersbergen) yell Aaahs to each other because of a religious conflict. Also in the song "Loser" the father (Michael Mills) gloats about the bad luck that falls on his son. But then the ladies of the backing vocals begin to beat him. And Irene and Lisette are very tall, as you can see here.. Oh my..
NW Army Italian Division reporting. On stage during this video: Magali "Maggy" Luyten - vocals Damian Wilson - vocals Marcel Coenen - guitar Ferry Duijsens - guitar Peter Vink - bass Ed Warby - drums Joost Van Den Broek - keyboards and from left to right as background vocals Irene Jansen (Floor's sister), Lisette Van Den Berg and Marcela Bovio (the Mexican gem)
The bass player Peter Vink is a legend. He was a founding member of the band Q65, from The Hague in the Netherlands, that had success in the latter part of the sixties. Later he played in the progrock band Finch.

I have a brand new Nightwish Reactions playlist (there's only one right now, but save it, as it will fill up quickly). I also have an Ayreon Reactions playlist. That quest is roaring...
@@VocalCitizen Good!!!! Just very very goooood. You might add a third playlist. The new solo project from Simone Simons that she does with Arjen Lucassen ( yes, that guy). Songs to see: "Aeterna", "In love we rust" and recently "R.E.D.". And when you are flabbergasted by her voice, check out "code of life" from Epica. Just for starters because Epica has chosen the right name for their band. So Floor Jansen and Simone are voices worth discovering. Amongst some others, but we will come to that in due time...😎😅🎶
IMHO one of the best Nightwish songs is "Getsemane", you will hear Floor singing it when you continue you journey. Loved that show as a kid

The backing singers' harmonies were incredible.

I love the basslines in this song. His tiny inflections and choices in the changes is magical.
The guy with the pink bass (not guitar) is Peter Vink and he's one of Arjens heroes. He played in early Dutch prog bands Northstars and Q65.
Arjen opens so many rabbit holes to explore!🤘🎸

The Eye of Ra is absolutely in the top ten of my requests list.
Can't watch this song often enough, I LOVE the energy and how the leads play there roles
They really committed themselves to the roles. I was super impressed.
