#30 - Welding work on the hull

- After the waterway, we put the boat on the beach to do the welding work. We took the opportunity to control the rest of the hull and strengthen some parts.

Who are we?
We are a family (Amandine, Fred, Charlotte and Djoula our cat) traveling on an 18m steel ketch that we bought in Tanzania in May 2021.
Before being world travelers, we were Savoyards (French Alps). We were used to making knots, but more at the end of the climbing rope :)
We did a lot of mountain sports.
We dreamed of the family trip. When Charlotte was born, in our hearts and minds, it was time to go.
In May 2019, we sold houses, cars, businesses… to buy Tchao un Feeling 486. What a boat! He will stay in our hearts forever.
In April 2021, Tchao sold, we fly to Tanzania to buy Blue Wave, a boat that will take us to the end of the world, in complete safety.
The project: Far North / Great South
Scotland, Norway, Iceland and why not Patagonia…. We look forward to making you travel with us to these magnificent places by combining sailing, discovery, culture and local gastronomy, hiking, ski touring….
Through our UA-cam channel, we like to share the daily life of our boat life. We love to take our community on a journey with us.
We will soon be heading back to Yemen and then the Suez Canal, probably in September. We think the topic may be of interest to your readers.

Bon anniversaire. Tout compte fait le trou dans la coque est peut être une chance. Cela vous a permis de faire une révision complète et vous étiez au bon endroit pour ça. Bon courage et bonne continuation.

La coque est pourri. Il faudrait un sablage, une peinture et un antifouling. Cette cote semble être abandonné par son propriétaire et pourtant c'est la partie la plus importante d'un bateau. Au moteur ou à la voile un voilier ferraille ne marche pas fort mais dans l'état de tristesse de cette coque cela devait être une sacrée merguez. Soudez sans avoir poncé le tour de la coque c'est pas top.
La baille à mouillage aurait du être traitée époxi des protections anti choc pour sauver l'époxi, et vu les fonds rempli d'eau et gasoil, y a du boulot. ""Des petits trous à traiter"". La mal traitance du bateau va fini par par un grand trou dans l'eau.
aïe.. souder sans nettoyer le métal à l'endroit de la soudure? même moi, plutôt mauvais soudeur à l'arc, ne m'y amuse pas. Bonne continuation, investissez dans un stage de soudure et un petit poste inverter, il vous sera trèèès utile.
Je vous encourage à créer une communauté patreons comme votre voisin Michel de Javerne et un compte paypal pour les dons ponctuels. c'est un concept normal chezr beaucoup de circum navigateurs dont je suis abonné aux chaines et je 'n'ai jamais compris les polémiques désagréables qui ont eu lieu avec Javerne et qui n'ont pas lieu ailleurs
