Excellent! It will definitely be helpful for you to really keep the air going while you move the tongue.

I like the concept, it reminds me of the "on-the-reed multiple tonguing" developed by David Pino in his book. Thanks for sharing !

Ooo, I'm not familiar with that one, I will have to check it out! Ironically I have the Pino book on my desk right now but haven't dug into it too much yet.

This is a little dry reading. One day I said to myself "come on it's just there, you paid for it!". Like every books, a lot of valuable things, but it's still a subjective method, we have to get the best for our needs and let some informations go. The clarinet is so supple it can lie and sound correctly when doing something not so good. Personally I often read again the two basics of playing he explains.
By the way, I experimented more your little trick and am getting more familiar with it. Updates coming later.

Yes Sounds really nice, I will try it. Actually you can connect this excercise with dynamicexercise to practice also the independent between the airmovement and the tongue.

I like that! I do often find that thinking about a crescendo between articulated notes is helpful for students to keep the air going.

Interesting exercise! I was surprised by how much I could move my tongue without any signfiicant disruption to the pitch or tone. The real test will be trying it with some younger students. I always do this kind of articultion work on the barrel and mouthpiece first as the connection between tongue position and sound seems clearest to students with less of the clarinet in the way.

Doing it with the mouthpiece and barrel is great! Let me know how it goes with your students!
