Thanks for explaining how to do this. Others thought it was weird to want to relocate my grass to save time and money and prevent waste.

Good tip man. We do the same of the golf course. Have a designated nursery that we cut like the rest of the golf greens and repair any damaged spots with grass from the nursery. Handy!

This was the most helpful tutorial I’ve found love that your using just a shovel I did it over some a spot where tree roots were growing and it actually survived over the top of the roots with the dirt the roots were already holding.

Your grass looks so great. Mine is full of weeds but my wife is against toxic spraying.
How do you make it level over time so it’s not so lumpy where the re used sod clumps were put down? Sprinkle dirt over the grass on the low spots?
Should I reuse pieces of sod if they have a few weeds in them?
I have some complete bare spots of solid packed dirt. Would I just need to dig up the hard dirt to allow the sod to sit flush with the rest of the grass or should I loosen the ground even below it?

My wife was the same. Now I call the shots on the lawn, and spray to get rid of dandelions. But don't do spray it before you plant grass seed...

I always forget to see if I have other mature lawn to re-plant before I seed dead areas. In fact, I just seeded a bunch on my front lawn and I wish I had done this!

    • @GrassDaddy

yes! some people grow them in pots year round too, so if you have to pull a weed you can replace it easily

Awesome channel! Off topic, but wondering what a good Fall preemergent in MS would be and when to put it down? Mix of Centipede, St Augustine, some kind of carpet grass( dont know what it is but its thick and love it), and Bermuda on an Acre lot. No irrigation.

Grass Daddy large sections of it went gatcho brown on me and aren't recovering with a lot of water. I think it was due to a dull blade and extreme heat. I'm in Texas with Bermuda grass and clay soil. Plenty of sunlight so idk. Can't wait for some cooler weather so I can airate and overseed. I think I'm going to post it in Reddit and poll the good ppl of lawncare
