    In Devi Chandragupta, it is written that Ramgupt forcefully marries Dhruvadevi/Dhruvaswamini who is actually Chandragupt’s finance. After the discussed episode, when she is sent to the Shakraj Kharvela’s camp, Chandragupta kills both Shakraj and Ramgupt. I agree with Jayvardhan’s theory that it is possible that it is a propaganda piece as in the story Ramgupt is repeatedly called नपुंसक.

    theres too much discuss on these topics. i would highly recommend and KINDLY REQUEST to maneuver the history topics towards geeky things like AD_HOC spendings by empires, salary structures, common citizen benefits and a holistic view of its municipality and bureaucracy of that empire, if time left u could do:trade route of a empire and its balance of payment .

      we find mauryan proof in pataliputra which was older than guptas.. and of course of licchavis in flood prone regions of north bihar.
      isnt it hillatious that most culturally advanced of all ancient dynasties ie Guptas wont leave any archeological evidence in their capital region (had pataliputra been their capital .)
      But we have a lot of such proofs in prayag and Ayodhya.

    Gupt surname nowadays is generally associated with vaishya/ baniya communities. However, its really purpose has been to keep one's true antecedents a secret.
    It was perfect on the part of a ruler to not associate oneself with any particular varna as they represent the people and not some particular group!!
    Gupta emperors must be appreciated for this aspect rather than the veiled criticism that is being resorted to!!

    • @ashwaryp
      @ashwaryp 10 місяців тому +3

      Gupt here means under protection
      So Chandragupt(a) means "One who is protected by Chandra Deva", similarly Samudragupt(a) means "One who is protected by Samudra Deva", same applies to Skandagupt(a), Ramagupt(a), Narsinghgupt(a), Buddhgupt(a) etc. Gupt was not their surname which usually people think.
      This whole confusion is caused due to use of English and thus mispronunciation of their name. Sanskrit and other Indian languages have a lingering "a" sound after consonants like Ka (क), Kha (ख), Ga (ग) etc. Therefore Indian names ending with a consonant usually have an "a" in their end eg:- Rama, Laxmana, Krishna etc. but names ending with a vowel don't have a lingering "a" sound i.e., Vishnu, Laxmi, Saraswati, Parvati etc.
      The problem lies in transliteration as English doesn't diffrentiate between "a" (अ) and "aa" or "ā" (आ). In India we don't commnly use diacritics (it is used in academic and scholarly works only) which can help in transliteration. The Vaishya surname is actually Guptā with आ (ā) i.e. lot of emphasis on the vowel unlike the Gupt(a) rulers whose names end with त and not ता. People shouldn't confuse both of them, both of them are world's apart.

    The illiteracy regarding history is insane in India. Many in the comments are conflating the Gupta surname of today with those of Gupt(a) Empire which is hilarious and stupid at the same time.
    Gupt here means "under protection of _____".
Same goes from Chandragupt(a) of Mauryan Dynasty.

    Their region of rule was eastern UP and western Bihar it's because they fought a battle against Hunas and defeated them near Saidpur Bheetari in eastern UP which falls in Ghazipur district. There is a pillar made to recognize this battle in which it's clearly mentioned that Skandgupta param-bhattaraka defeated huns in the war. It's quite evident that they were from this region.

    Dear UA-camr, you must tell the audience that at that time there was no region like Poorvanchal. You may be narrating only because of Bithari Pillar Inscriptions of Skandagupta (discovered in the village of Bhitari near Saidpur of Ghazipur district in Eastern Uttar Pradesh, now being called as Poorvanchal, dating back to the reign of Gupta Empire ruler Skandagupta (c. 455 - c. 467 CE)) built as a memorial in remembrance of his great victory over foreign nomadic invaders like Hunas etc. Renowned historian R C Majumdar has called Skandgupta the ‘Saviour of India’ on account of his great victory.

      My dear friend the boundary of malla janapada and magadh starts from the Gandaki (gandak river ) before that till chhapra it was malla and after gandak it was vrijji I'm north and magadh in south so, the bhojpuri speaking region in Bihar in currently is on the left bank of Gandaki river and shares land border with purvanchal but the natural boundary which demarcates the difference in culture starts from gandak river. If you want I can show map of relevant region and can explain effectively. If you want reply will connect

    • @himanshushekhar6617
      @himanshushekhar6617 11 місяців тому +4

      @@TransgirlsEnjoyernope purvanchal is not bihar bihar has four cultural regions 1. Vrijji northern bihar i.e Vaishali 2. South Bihar - Magadha( patna ) 3. Mithila-Anga 4. Remanent of malla janapada i.e west champaran, gopalganj a part of Sivan and remanant of Kashi Janpada i.e buxar Ara mohania area .
      Only the remanants of Kashi and malla Janpada are similar to purvanchal and have more similarities with awadh and purvanchal than rest of bihar.
      In this region is bhojpuri speakers are found which is very very much different from up's region like in malla - gorakhpur region sarwari is spoken Kashi - Banaras where pachhmaiya is spoken.
      So I will advice never ever say purvanchal is same as bihar because purbachal is more similarly to kosala i.e ayodhya but have distinct culture of its own whereas bihar has its unique culture of vrjii magadh and mithila ... The bhojpuri regions are different from rest of bihar which are similar to purvanchal just similar not same

    Only the Maharaja could issue gold coins; the rest of the smaller kings could issue coins in silver/copper. Only if these smaller kings wanted to put up a show of 'hume chahiye aazadi' type if challenge would they dare to issue gold coins in their own name.
    This very ancient tradition of the rules and symbols of Kingship and Authority was followed even in the West and in West Asia by those 'kings' and nobles (who were essentially long lost, disconnected, renegade--or just pretenders and upstarts--kith and kin of the Bharatiya raj-vansh).

He has been called 'Ekrat' or the only king in puranas as he had defeated every other king of India.

And most have title of roy or Rai some adopted Singh again to show themselves as rajputs .

      Also most land with them are due to Brit policy. In Punjab haryaana jutt and jat became dominant zamindar due to British. Jaats do were farming community but they were loosing farms rapidly to lalas/Baniyas . They rebelled so Brtis banned all other caste to own land there.
