Kang Taeshik isn’t necessarily “assassin,” his hunter type is a assassin so he’s especially fast and stealthy. There are different classes like tank like the C class leader Sung killed or Mages like Song who has especially high intelligence( helps mana capacity and usage). Also when they said he can’t be a false hunter, they meant Sung Jin woo and his “little group” ( Song and Joohee ) then he can’t be one because they are usually murders who work alone and kill witnesses.
So he's an assassin, gotcha.
@@Xerevil Idk if you're being intentionally dense or what. OC is responding to Lala thinking that he's called an assassin because he secretly assassinates hunters, he's not. Assassin is just a class/archetype of hunter, just like in a video game. Being an assassin doesn't mean you kill other hunters and there's tons of people just like him in the story (like the previous group we saw) who assassinate/kill hunters and aren't the assassin class.

Just to clarify, there is a HUGE powergap between a B ranker and an A ranker. and S rankers are just a whole different level
The S ranks in the story is the most inconsistent power ranks of all the ranks because the magic mana machine can't measure the mana levels of anyone above A rank so one S rank can be a lot stronger than the other but no one can really know until they fight because the mana meter can't differentiate the power levels of anything above A so anything that is above A is just labeled "S rank"

Yup. Exponential difference, not additive or multiplicative.
The gaps between the ranks are VAST. It takes about 8 good C Rank fighters to have a chance of bringing down a single B Rank hunter. That's why they sent 1 B rank to handle 3 Cs. Right now Jinwoo is in the top 1% of B ranks, but that's nothing compared to an A rank.
As a better way to visualize the gap, lets say the strongest B rank has 250 power... the weakest A rank would have like 500. Usually, there are no hunters with power in between 250 and 500, but since Jinwoo levels up linearly, he has to gradually close the gap level by level.

Hunter ranks are essentially exponential in terms of power. That's why Jin-Woo says that he stands no chance against the Chief (it also helps that he is literally at the pinnacle of A rank). For a similar reason it's quite unlikely for a C rank (mage) to take out a B rank (Assassin), though the presence of a B rank healer and knowing that Mr. Song is a very skilled swordsman are just about plausible enough (though still unlikely). In terms of raw power (excluding special skills) Jin-Woo is top B rank now (the same as Kang) but his skills and the system in general let him fight at a higher level to a degree, unlikely enough to take on someone like the Chief, but just about good enough to handle Ceberus.

Fun Fact: In the Manwha, one of the gRapists survived, but was playing dead. Sung could sense he was alive, and decided to drag him to the boss chamber and FEED him to the boss and his minions, before he beat the boss by himself.
False Rankers are generally accepted to be Psychopaths that HIDE their ranks so that they can hunt weaker hunters for fun. They NEVER leave people alive who have seen their true skills.

There is a big difference between an A rank and a B rank (A ranks are like 10× stronger than B rank).
Remember that Jinwoo as a low B rank took down 6 C rank hunters.
Kang, took down 4 C rank and 1 D rank with his bare hands and also took on a high C rank with Buff and was untouched.

There was no picnic in the manhwa, I don't know about the web novel or light-novel. But A-1 Pictures used to add original content if they feel the world building is lacking from weak characterization in the source.
Solo Leveling was only a monotonous plot with Jinwoo Sung. All the side-characters were irrelevant and had basically no background story. After so many light-novels A-1 has crafted over the years they have experience to imagine their own created scenes.
Episode 8 was 90% original content from A-1.

also about ranks to give a rough estimate 1 B rank normally could easily take care of 10 C ranks but Mr Sung is such a good swordsman that he trains S ranks even though he awoke as a mage and had the buff from a B rank healer (only reason him saying it was him is slightly believable)

A rank and B rank are super different on power level like if goku fighting a normal ass human thats how different the power level are one level higher and your a god to anybody under you

That episode was more deep than it looked.
Jinwoo recognizing that he was loosing something (emotions? sanity? empathy?) every time he got stronger, and those glowing eyes in the abyssal darkness (not Jinwoo's glowing eyes, the other ones that shone with no face) are very intriguing ;p).

Two of the only reactors I've seen that actually keep up with the plot points are Heatah and Hustla.
On the spider dungeon is explained that a false ranker is someone who fakes his rank in order to get in lower dungeons and usually kill people, so what Kang was saying is that he can't be a false ranker because they know each other and false rankers doesn't let witnesses.

assassin is more of a hunter archtype. Used for hunters who are very agility/speed based. Not all assassin type hunters are professional hitman like Kang Taeshik was.
When Jinwoo sliced him for the first time after using Dash, that red wave effect was actually Kang cancelling out his dagger’s abilities (bleed and drain), which he why he wasn’t immediately KO’d like everyone else. In the manwha it says that because he’s a high rank and resistant, the effects have been nullified. They didn’t explicitly state it, but cool little detail for ya.
Think of this more like a video game. He was a assassin class, Joohee is a cleric/healer, Songs a mage, Jinwoo seems to be a jack-of-all-trades, like a redmage from Final Fantasy.
Sung Jinwoo, Song, and Joohee all know each other...so Jinwoo can't be a false ranker due to false rankers kill all witnesses to their true power, in order to keep their true identity a secret. That's what Taeshik was saying and how he came to the conclusion that at some point Jinwoo must have reawakened since the double dungeon.
I actually liked Kang at the beginning, what a shame...
Oh the combo of ending of this episode and the title of the next episode is evil.
A rank compared to B rank the jump is massive the same goes for all the other ranks even a D rank is on a completely different level than an E rank a low B rank compared to a high B rank would even be considered quite a considerable jump in strength

Fun fact: the side to side hop Jinwoo did was actually added to the anime (wasn't in the manhwa - goku/dragon ball reference) to honor the death of Akira Toriyama (creator of Dragon Ball Z)
I don't like how they did the character Kang, they just turned him into a psychopath just so it would be more satisfying to see him die (for the people who didn't read SL). Plus left cut out bunch of things from the manhwa he was struggling way more when he fought Kang.

@@Mr10before9 the healer (don't remember name) literally had to use a haste and burn boost for Jinwoo to even catch up to Kang at first, the system is just a frickin cheat for him.
That's not to take away from his tactical thinking skills ina fight but if that man didn't have multiple abilities he would've lost, Jinwoo is gonna turn into a unstoppable force in the future, but let's not act like the Jinwoo in this episode/chapter didn't get lucky.

@@darksoulempire4477He died March 1st but they didn’t announce it until a few days ago. Not enough time to have purposefully added it post production. It’s likely they just animated as a fun Easter egg but it ended up being a wholesome honor.
