      100% agree with you.
Even with litterally ZERO riding school or veterinarian experience I can see that what that monster is doing to that horse is abuse. She was nothing but gentle with him on the ground and even when he whiped her around the pen she never tried to go after him. And I feel confident in saying that she did nothing wrong because it's OBVIOUS that he would've included any agressive/fight behaviour from the horse as a way to justify his so called training.
Meaning that the ONLY time the mare acted out was when he gave that her no other option. When she was stuck with him on her back, unable flee and nothing she did made him stop. In a state of absolute terror and pain where flight isn't an option the horse will fight that is until you break it's spirit. And intentionally destroying a horse mentally should NEVER be called training. As someone who has lived through mental and physical abuse I KNOW that obeying out of fear nothing like actually learning. All he does is traumatize a horse thar seemed like a sweet heart 💔

What an idiot this “wise trainer” is. No, you never reward bad behavior, ever. Animals will absolutely try you. See what they can get away with. I always growled at them very meanly, first time they got stupid. Pointed my finger and growled “don’t you ever do that again!”. Usually that took care of the problem. If they dared to bite or otherwise act bossy like threaten to kick, again, I growled, but also got out a long carriage whip and flashed that around with sure intent. I have been training over 50 years and this method never fails. They don’t try anything with me, either.

I think firm boundaries and structure are important when training animals, absolutely. But as someone who grew up riding horses, it’s amazing to me how people think because they’re bigger animals you can straight up abuse them. I’ve watched trainers get off and kick horses, chase them in a circle while smacking them with a whip, and snap the lead rope backwards into their face repeatedly while making them back up. I’m just listing the super common ones. I think unfortunately people think because they put a lot of money into horses and compete on them that they’re owed something. They get treated like cars, not animals.

    • @karma9101

    • @ashebennett7726
      @ashebennett7726 3 роки тому +1

But if they’re bigger animals then why tf would these people abuse them!? That doesn’t compute. One: that’s still cruel anyway because they have thin skin and more nerve endings than we do and two: because I would also be scared to death to mistreat them if they could have enough of the pain and stomp on or kick me killing me on impact. Two simple reasons to respect and treat them with care is all you need to not do whatever that is this man does. If this guy ends up like Christine Wels, I wouldn’t be surprised. Bitch is dead after the same “training techniques” as this guy. It’s going to happen. And when it does, I’ll just shrug my shoulders and say “we tried to tell him.” Most importantly, I hope this horse and the other animals will be taken away from him and live on some rescue ranch or something. I wish for that so badly as well as a huge fine that puts him in debt, prison time and ban from ownership of any animal ever again.

Totally agree with your comment about “it may get worse before it gets better” such BS on an untrained horse
The only time I’ve experienced that is when I’m working with a horse that’s been trained through abusive methods and they’re totally shut down. As I work with them and give them more freedom to express they will often become more spirited and show where the holes in their training really are.
I tell owners of these horses that we have to let the horse get out of its shell and then retrain from the bottom up to create a happy, thoughtful partner.
Wondering if you’ve ever seen that as well. I’m working with one right now that is that way. It’s so rewarding to see them come out of their shell and become happier horses.

I am very ashamed of myself that I supported and watched ‘professional’ trainers and didn’t realize the CLEAR ABUSE that happens. You can work with dogs and horses I did it for almost 30 years. I worked with horses that were abused and badly started.
Dogs were mostly obedience and reactive.
If you know what you are doing there is nothing wrong with it. I trained cattle dogs and dogs for keeping with horse on the trail with us. Karen Pryor is who I use for most of my methods with dogs. The horses it was all about trust and bonding.

She spooked and I fell, but my foot got caught in the stirrup. I was too small to drag, so my lil self was hanging from her side. Mom got me unstuck eventually because Shadow was turning in circles to not step on me. I was fine just spooked. By that point the gate was shut so Mom let Shadow go calm down while she made sure I was ok. She brought the pony back to me, and the mare put her head to my chest like "I'm sorry". Mind you, in Tamora Pierce's Protector of the Small series, the protagonist, a knight-in-training named Kel, has to compromise and go with less hurtful spurs for her horse - because the social system she is in utterly forbids her from using any outright non-abusive training methods. She doesn't have the option of refusing spurs altogether because her training master won't allow it. Because that world is a medievalistic setting, more progressive than the real Middle Ages, perhaps, but only because the king of that kingdom is a good one and rules about the same as an average modern politician (in a system where the laws they start with are far more regressive than our own including ones he is trying to change without causing a revolt). In other words, just because Kel has no option to refuse spurs altogether doesn't mean we can't.

Something that I love about the barn I go to is that the majority of the horses are rescues. Some of them are from abusive barns, some were going to be sent to slaughter, some were just given to the barn because the owners couldn't take care of the horse. All in all, the barn I go to always tries to give horses a second chance and the ability to teach riders the proper way to ride. And if they can't have people ride them, they just get to sit out in a pasture to graze and get brought out for exercise. They've spent a bunch of money on vet bills for the horses there and only if the horse is old and in a bunch of pain and going to pass anyway will they put the horse down peacefully with people around, loving on them during their last moments.

You have so much confidence in yourself when speaking out for these animals. I really feel like I've been restricted from saying something about the things that go on in the place where I train. We don't abuse the horses but my trainer once chased this one horse down because the horse didn't want to be ridden so she chased that mare around till the mare really couldn't run anymore. I really don't have a voice because these aren't my horses and I'm only a 14 year old. Who would listen to a 14-year-old who has only been riding for 2 years? They LOVE their horses but sometimes I think that some of the horses are being a bit mistreated without anyone realizing it.
I love the place where I train and they absolutely treat me personally with so much respect. They love their horses so much but I don't know what I should do to try and educate the people I train alongside.

My riding instructor yanks on the reins when the horses "don't listen" or when a horse is angry she "hit" the horse in the face which doesn't "teach" the horse anything. The horse that get hit is a really good well trained horse. My riding instructor does it to other horses as well, but I feel like 2 of the horses that belong to the riding "school" is the most "exposed" to it. It hurts my souls when my riding instructor does it, but there's not a lot I can do. I'm only 16 and I started riding in August last year and my riding instructor has been working with horses for at least 20+ years. I have talked to another person in my riding group and she agrees with me wholeheartedly that what she does is wrong.
A LOT of other people who have their own horses at the stable always says that my riding instructor is a really good riding instructor and I agree. She is a good riding instructor. She's really straightforward and we get a lot of help and really learn the basics of riding. But she does... abuse horses and I can't do anything about it. I have been learning stuff about horse since I was a young kid and I may not know everything but at least I have an useful knowledge about horses. I forgot where I was going with this.
English is also not my first language, excuse me.

i’ve been working with horses for over 7 years and i worked with a super spooky and scared horse. he’s always just been naturally scared of everything even before i started working with him a few years ago. he was barely green broke and the few times he was taken somewhere to be ridden he either flipped over with someone on him or he was generally overly stressed. what did i do when i started working him? i did basic training, i didn’t treat him any differently than any other horse, i wasn’t acting on edge like he was going to explode or freak out, in turn that already made him a little more confident that i had trust in him. then i worked on desensitization to everything, taking it at his pace and putting my mare in there since she was his comfort horse (i had them both loose in the round pen with a plastic bag on one side). there is NEVER. EVER. a reason to kick, beat, or hurt your horse in training, no matter the stage you’re at. and now about three years later he’s still being ridden with a new found confidence, he isn’t scared of much anymore but that’s because i made sure to take it at his pace and NEVER placed a hurtful hand on him, intentionally.

Someone treated our horse like this. Now I’ve given up as we, as utter newbs, are not qualified to safely work with him. We were making progress over 6-9 months of ownership, yet last time I saw him he tried to kill me. Just treating me like another horse, but only reason hoof missed my head was because he hit me with his flank first and I was running to get my feet under me. As it was his rear hooves were level with and within a foot of my head at full extension.
Hopefully we can find him a skilled equestrian who can provide the training he needs and deserves.

    How I broke my 3 y o TB....
Grooming, cuddles, feeding, playing (hide & seek - she loved it).
I then got big round bales of silage.
I would climb up on the bale, and gently lower myself on her back and sit quietly, waiting for HER to take me for a little walk around the paddock, and she did.
She got BIG hugs, cuddles, and rewards.
Each day the walks got longer.
Eventually I placed a halter on, to lead her to the bale of hay so I could climb up, and she would turn her body to make climbing on easier.
The result? By "adding on" hints and clues "I want to go this way" by using the rope halter, she's now ready to teach learner riders - passive, gentle passengers.
Yet with a strong rider, she obeys with the slightest touch because she has NO fear of what's being asked.
People who have that much trust in their horse, should have no fear.

So they beat the absolute daylight out of them and say its okay because "have you seen their size, if you dont train em well they are dangerous, they could kill you blablabla". Which is such backwards thinking. Because in my 17 years of experience on and around horses without fail the only horses that are genuinly dangerous are the ones that are SCARED. And how do they become consistently scared? Previous abuse like this.

  • @Lizzard2060

I have a terrible comments to make but if you see how tight he has that mare tied to the post so if she moves forward she will bang her head, that was my first vet. He didn't like my mare didn't like being tubed (this being like 1995) so he asked which post was cemented into the ground and he tied her as tight as the lead would tie and then started tubing her. She, of course, reacted and jumped forward knocking her head so hard that she was "out of it" for the rest of the tubing for worms. The vet was so proud saying how he taught her a lesson and I was like 10 and I knew that the next time tubing her would be heck on earth because she would now associate it with a head injury. I told my parents he is never coming back and my mom couldn't understand why I was upset seeing my horse slam her head into a 6 X 6 to the point of dizziness, but my dad was fully on board. Found a new vet and never ever looked back. This was a vet who did that to our horse.

you reminded me of why i liked the breaking process in the movie spirit stallion of the cimmeron...they show the right and wrong ways to do it. you have to first build trust with the animal before any training can begin.

Dogs running around barking and scaring the horse, whipping the horse for doing what she's told, then being tied up super short and repeatedly stabbed whilst being unable to do anything about it. amazing training 10/10
But seriously, he's basically filming himself beating a defenceless animal then tries to justify it??? I'm not in the US but hopefully people that are will report him, all the evidence is literally filmed

I love how he uses an inanimate object as an analogy. What has a car got to do with training an animal
