  • What's holding you back? You will never be prepared to make a big decision as to where you want to relocate, retire, move, etc. if you don't come see it for yourself. Smell the air, feel the breeze, listen to the music, walk the sidewalks, eat the food. No UA-cam can convey enough to make you able to know if you will like what you find, or want to look elsewhere. How much valuable research can you do from abroad? You get your real answers, your best answers, when you come and see for yourself.
    Is Nicaragua for you? No one can ultimately tell you that except you. And wondering doesn't move you forward. Visit today, maybe just stay once you get here. It's quick, easy, cheap and even if at the end of the day Nicaragua isn't for you, it'll be an adventure to find out.

    You should be the official Nicaragua spokesman. You're very passionate about my country and I really appreciate ❤️ that.
    I recently visited my country Nicaragua after 16 long years, and I was amazed about the increase in the expat community. Visited Granada, Masaya, Managua, Leon, chinandega, and my hometown of Corinto. I'll be making another trip to visit Esteli, Matagalpa, and Jinotega.
    Got to love ❤️ fritanga .

    I started out in. Costa Rica from Tennessee. It got too expensive and dangerous. Also the roads are terrible. After 5 years I moved to Nicaragua. Inexpensive, safe, good roads. I live in the north in the mountains. The weather is unbelievable. Never hot, never cold. Not subject to big earthquakes, no volcanoes too close for comfort, no really strong storms. I love it here. Been here over 5 years, with no plans or thoughts of leaving.

    Excellent stuff Scott, I've been checking out flights because on this video you're preaching to the choir, I'm definitely a "Boots on the ground" type but just got back from an over extended retirement scouting trip to Jamaica, which is now also on my short list for exiting the US first of '25.
    But back on point anyone watching your videos especially this one, anyone considering Nicaragua should take your advice and take a leap, I saw flights as low as $67 to Managua from Ft Lauderdale, I'm in San Diego was still only $136 on Spirit - though they hit you up for the bag fees but it's on Airbus 320's everybody else was higher $ & on 737's & I won't fly those!🤯😂
    Anyway looking forward to visiting soon already been to all over Mexico, Panama, Belize & Jamaica now but I'm loving everything you've covered so far especially the spot over in Tesoro on the beach with Geoff & his bother & their 200 acres, there's some incredible options for that spot for me for sure & of course I'll be telling them I found them thru you!
    Keep up the great work & truth telling already got you a weeks of coffee, peace brother! 😎

    Thanks Scott for the renvigorating video and words! Sometimes indeed I feel like to go to Nicaragua would be too overwhelming... like "How do I do this?, How do I do that?". Sometimes even some panick sets in... like "Will I be able to survive there? Will I be even able to order food?". Lots of questions and doubts come to mind, that probably only being boots on the ground it is possible to resolve.

    Love your show Scott!!! I'm Canadian and not a fast food lover and try very hard to eat organically. The produce here is mostly imported, subsequently laden with chemicals. Are the produce and meat organically raised by small farmers or does most food come from corporate farms?

    • @danielrosales1448
      @danielrosales1448 3 місяці тому +2

      Hi there! Around 90% of the food production is made by small farms and the government works with them to avoid chemicals when growing plants and vegetables. Everything is driven to be organic, fertilizers are made from kitchen waste, rotten wood, etc. You are welcome to come and visit Nicaragua! 🤗

    • @ScottAlanMillerVlog
      @ScottAlanMillerVlog  3 місяці тому +3

      To echo Daniel, the majority of food here is quite healthy. There isn't the big push for organic labeling and strict standards like the US, but that's mostly marketing (water is Gluten Free now! And organic! Except wait, it's literally inorganic, what the heck!) But in general, things are locally raised. As an example, all my mangos and avocados come from my YARD.

      Quite little. Those aren't music forms of Latin America and especially not of this region. So they exist, of course, but as minor, eclctic foreign music. The same as you'd see any quality, but obscure foreign niche of music. They aren't styles that fit well with the culture or history and all smack heavily of imperialism so aren't part of traditional daily life. Chamber orchestras exist, little jazz bands exist. But it's very rare.

    Ok, not to hate Nicaragua, but I was there on two different occasions, once 3weeks, and another for 1 weeks.
    - Police stop you especially all the time ( especially if you travel outside the know touristy areas) $
    - country lacks infrastructure
    - internet is good in big “city” area
    - trash cans are just opinions.
    - people are nice
    - as American, you can say anything except about Nicaragua gov
    - its cheap,
    - beaches are good, but not the best ( my opinion)
    - dirt roads and bumpy roads
    - yes the help is cheap, like 120 dollars a month to have a maid come every day to do chores
    - it’s “safe” depending on location as always
    -cheap flights from US
    - cheap cost of living
    - they use dollars almost everywhere so no need to exchange
    - food is good, but not a lot of restaurants
    - supermarkets are good
    - everyday is summer! I it’s hot
    - would I live there?
    Probably not, not for me, I like the city and there isn’t a real city there, the tallest building in Managua is like 6 stories high and there are like 2 of them ( exaggerating here, but it feels like it)

    • @ScottAlanMillerVlog
      @ScottAlanMillerVlog  3 місяці тому +1

      Police definitely stop you constantly. That said, somehow it's been six months since I was stopped - but that's an anomaly, but they are normally super quick. It's random stops to check paperwork normally and once in a while to check for drug trafficking. If you have your papers ready it's a 30 second interaction at most. You just make small talk, hand them the required papers and off you go. It sounds annoying and if you don't know what to do or aren't used to it, it seems off putting. But I'll take the Nicaragua basic friendly 30 second stops that don't imply anything over random cops patrolling everywhere like in the US. I'm not complaining about the US system, it's just a different approach. But I like the Nica system SO much more. It makes me completely comfortable being stopped by the cops, instead of nervous that they are watching me or following me.

      Most of the rural areas have amazing fiber Internet. As a tourist or very short term visitor, you'll mostly be in hotels or rentals that don't bother to have good Internet, but that's the rental. If you owned or rented long term and paid for the Internet yourself, you can get amazing fiber essentially anywhere in the country. I have houses in super tiny villages (like 3500 people) in the barrio, on dirt lanes and fiber is everywhere, no problem at all. I've had tech workers in really remote mountain areas and even they get better internet than my big city customers in the US do.

    • @ScottAlanMillerVlog

      The lack of big, vertical city is a big deal. Guatemala City in Nicaragua would be amazing.

    Is it possible to get residency by starting a business from scratch in Nicaragua? Or do I have to prove that I have a bunch of money on my bank account, or alike? (Being from Sweden in this case)

    • @ScottAlanMillerVlog
      @ScottAlanMillerVlog  2 місяці тому +1

      You CAN do that. But 99% of the time (literally) that's a bad idea. Watch my series of videos on residency because I think you've got layers of misinformation (just based on asking that question.)
      1. You can RESIDE in Nicaragua without what we call residency. The majority of permanent residents here do no paperwork at all. It's often not necessary.
      2. You can get residency based on a modicum of income be it pension, job, investments, etc. with no "money in the bank" requirements or investments.
      3. If you REALLY want to be an investor for some reason, yes, like me you can just start a business in Nicaragua. I did this unrelated to residency. I'm in category 1 (no paperwork) for over three years BUT I also invest just because I want to invest. I didn't invest for residency, that makes no sense under normal circumstances. No reason to make residency so hard.
