7:55 This is genuinely shocking! Not that the tinted windows spoil the view, but that they still do almost nothing to prevent the balconies and hot tubs of those super-expensive suites below from being clearly on display to anyone using that (semi) public space.
I’ve been hoping y’all would make a video on virgin! Trying to plan a bachelor/ bachelorette trip and this was the honest, (mostly) unbiased review I’ve been waiting for.
@@BrightSunTravels You can't really call anything 100% unbiased, especially when the cruise line paid for your fare. You will have unintentional unconcious bias from that even if you have ensured that everything you can think of has been covered.
I just want to say I’m a new subscriber but I’ve watched a few of your videos and your style is impeccable. Absolutely love how you articulate your points, your complete honesty and your balanced opinion. I am a big cruiser so I can’t wait to see more :) plus your imagery makes my scientific, factual brain very happy! I rarely comment on videos but I had to for this one. Thank you for the great content
I think the transforming bed was the worse part of the room by far, I get what they were going for but there are just so many problems with it. And it looks like when it's in bed configuration there's a bit of a split in the middle where the 2 halves meet? Did you notice that at all, or is it not as bad as I'm thinking. Love the hammock, that's an amazing idea that's so easy and cheap to implement I'm surprised all cruise lines don't have that on their balconies. Love the 2000's aesthetics too, I'm sure Richard had a say in that.
There is a split but the mattress is quite firm (firmer than I wish) so it isn't really noticable. Lots of cruise lines have split beds, allows them to be separated into two twins when sharing a cabin with friends. He didn't show it but that's a 3rd configuration of the bed, in the couch mode but setup as beds which gives you that two twins effect but unfortunately you then have one person's feet at the other person's head. Its a nice room and the tech is good but seating/storage/bathroom were sacrificed for the sake of a more open feeling cabin.
The transforming bed/sofa is quite a nice take on an old idea (used to be common in premium sleeper trains like the orient express) though I think they did fluf the usability with the bedside tables. They could have had a section of the wood board to the side raise up to form a table, then fold down below for the sofa which would also mean you could effectively leave your bedside table stuff on it and not have to move it every time.
lol I love that convertible couch bed, actually, that rules. Honestly? this cabin makes me feel like a micro apartment! I've lived in one before and this almost feels a bit homey. that long slab of wood beside the bed-mode bed looks like a great spot for your luggage though doesn't it? That's where I'd put it, can't be mad at the tiny drawers for that. Like how much time are you really going to spend in your cabin, right? the mod sort of style kinda slaps??? I love it?? I love that you got to peek into the bigger suites too, and I feel like I respect their bold choices, which... might miss a few times, but I respect the effort. Better than tons of white on white with white and beige and white to appeal to the lowest common denominator. excited for the main review of everything else! Thank you :D
Thanks for the honest and very insightful review. I’ve only been on German cruise lines voyages and their cabins were quite a bit bigger than this one. The hammock is a great idea though!
Much appreciate the review. I was thinking of booking, but as you pointed out, if you are looking for a quiet vacation and not looking for the parties or going to the shows…it’s not for you. Well, that is me. I’m late 50s, travel solo and when I’m on vacation I want quiet and relaxing. I don’t typically go to the shows, maybe a comedian, and I hate parties and crowds. Plus, if I go to Sea, I’m looking for the experience of being AT SEA…surrounded by Ocean, and the lack of that experience would drive me nuts. It doesn’t sound like this cruise line is for me. I think I’ll look elsewhere.
I just stayed in a citizenM hotel. This reminded me of that, down to the tablet. I actually hate the tablet. It felt gross because there’s no way to fully sanitize them, it took up what ends up being really valuable table/nightstand space in a small room, and it can be glitchy and you have to go through so many menus for things that are a simple click of a remote.
They’ll definitely swap to beds in future dry docks im sure. Considering they used to start voyage with sofa and now dont it seems inevitable. I will say I’ve only stayed in sea terrace xl on my voyages and it’s serious upgrade to the normal sea terrace too but the layout doesn’t take advantage of the larger space there either there’s room for a couch.
I pack light and almost exclusively use the room to sleep and use the bathroom, so I don't see any problem with the rooms. I even lived in a 150sq foot micro apartment for almost 2 years .
Loved the video! On another note, I'm curious to know if anyone from Disney caught wind of your other videos on this channel and took an issue with them? (ie. did they complain?) I think that you have a large enough voice on this platform to have that happen and maybe even change things.
Mini W hotel is a great description of that cabin. There is a closet so I can hang anything so really 2 drawers per person (plus one wicker bin each) is way more than enough. And given the choice between paying $100-$200 per night for a bigger bathroom - or trading a bigger bathroom for a smaller cabin - I think I'd rather have the mini one but it's hard to tell the scale on video. The hammock is brilliant. Nice touch. The rest of the ship seems strangely designed, and if you had an inside cabin and there were areas you were banned from it would feel kind of weird but I guess that's how ships have always worked.
Great review! We had a Seriously Suite last year on the Scarlett Lady and wow I got to tell Ya, the room was excellent! Especially the bathroom! The suite area on the "Richard's rooftop" was a disappointment and felt like an afterthought. no real value...
Love the videos! I’ve done 6 cruises, all Disney so far (and not intending to do the Wish…your review on it definitely cemented that decision!), and I feel like I’ve set my personal bar high because of that. Like I look at this smaller cabin, one bathroom, no storage space, and all I can think of why spend money here for a lesser experience when I could be aboard the Wonder ? Looking forward to the full review…I’ve wanted to try Virgin, but wondering if it’s a lot of flash and amenities that wouldn’t appeal to me or my travel party
Its another thing to show how much Disney is cutting corners everywhere, it blows my mind how basically everything on the Wish is a downgrade compared to their older ships! Not only that but the fact that the designer they brought in for the ship had absolutely no experience and never was on a ship before!
@@jeffreygamer32 yeah as soon as I heard she’d never been on a ship I was like “this is gonna suck”. It’s like someone designing hockey equipment that can’t even skate. I agree on the cutting corners from what I’ve seen online (BSF’s review was brutally honest!) plus I’ve had friends that said if I liked the original 4 I’d hate the Wish. Makes me wonder what the Treasure and 7th will be like since they’re in the same class
@@LlamaBobby Yeah me and my family used to be Disney nuts we even had a timeshare with them but now with everything they have been doing, cutting corners, rides breaking down constantly raising prices beyond sky high every week and trying to push a woke agenda we completely severed all ties with Disney and want nothing to do with them, so me and my family booked a cruise with Royal Caribbean next year
5:43 if I were a croose person I'd go with this ship/brand just for the hammock on the balcony, laying down on one while looking at the ocean sounds like heaven.
For Virgin's price point, they should be an all suite vessel, with double the cabin width. The base bathrooms should be the XL size, with double vanities. Remove IKEA, put Luxury in!
As a single traveller, i seriously considered Virgin, but they are too expensive, and not as exclusive as i thought. Plus, that bathroom is tiny, and that pool haha. Wow...
I like the room, feels very Nordic. No terrible colors only white and wood, feels very comfortable, feels like home. Only problem I have with the room is it's narrow for my taste. I would literally bang my should into that TV every time I would try to get past the bed. 10 cm more on width would make the room great. The storage is another thing I don't have a problem with. I don't understand people who unpacks in hotel rooms. Having my shirts where other people have had their shitty underwear, no thank you!
I dont even know how you're supposed to walk around the bed without climbing over it, especially in those configurations where one corner is touching the wall. That just seems unsafe
For a luxury cruise I'd want a stateroom that has all the comforts of home: bedroom, sitting area, place to watch TV, small kitchen to enjoy meals and snacks... These cabins seem almost like a basic bedroom.
You have to call someone to change your bed sofa thing? That's like on virgin planes when you have to call them to make your seat into a bed and the other way around. So annoying.
I think really expensive things need to be reviewed differently. They are not made for a price conscious buyer. They are made for people who want to spend more. Luxury items are not logical, it's really about parting a rich man from their money.
@@BrightSunTravels I didn't think you were actually going to reply, but a review of a Costa Concordia sister ship 11 years after THAT incident would certainly be interesting
