Two months before this movie came out, there was this Netflix show called Centaurworld. The main character named Horse is also voiced by Kimiko Glenn. That's two horse projects she was involved in. Not only that, the show's story editor is Meghan McCarthy, who was an executive producer for this movie like she was for most of Friendship Is Magic.
Something I didn't realize until recently is that the title of "Fit Right In" was also used as the title of the song from the season 9 episode "She's All Yak". Talk about a coincidence.
I actually like Sprout, he keeps the plot interesting. removing him makes the show feel dull and uninspired, his jealousy & his man-child behaviour are what keep the story engaging, he and Hitch have big potential in mlp5, I want to see Sprout prove himself instead of being ridden off he had a banger of a song, and he got deep-rooted fear from his mom when he was a kid, they are All childhood friends, so I want to see them do something crazy as friends. People should not hate or say he should go to prison because remember they were all raised on propaganda as children, that would mean everyone who supported it also deserves to go to Jail.
*Reads the Description* I hope you're doing better now Goldie and it's fine. Heck Silver just put a review of a S9 episode, it's been several years since it aired. So no worries! And hey Josh hated this movie and he had NO problem giving out his reasons. Looking forward to seeing what you think. I honestly can't give a full opinion since I never watched the movie fully due to not having Netflix (wish they air it on Discovery Family . . . . . .). I've only been able to watch other reviews and reactions to it.
This will be my own take on the movie. Animation, voice acting, musicals: I really like all three of these. The scene with Sunny and Izzy interacting in the lighthouse at the beginning is a great showcase of the animation. They are so expressive, it was amazing. In terms of voice acting I have give the MVP to Kimiko Glenn., who voiced the " Rebel who plays by her own rules" Lenna in the 2017 Ducktales reboot. The fact that she can voice two very different personas is impressive, then we have the performance of Izzy itself. It was great. It makes the character very likeable and endearing. Fit in right in is my favorite musical because of how it incorporates all 5 ponies. It starts with Izzy, then Sunny and Hitch are thrown in, then we have all 5 at the end. Plus they all give a great performance, especially Izzy as she is undeniably the star of this song My least favorite is the angry mob song. It just wasn't my jam. It is the funniest song to me with how on point and blatant its lyrics were with being a mob. It is so self aware I can't help but laugh. Story: I felt that the movie was rushed in aspects because of how fast paced it felt. The movie is so focused on moving the story along that we don't have a lot of time to have the characters just interact like during the campfire scene. As a result the team comes off a hollow. Hitch and Zipp are a good example. They have a few fun lines together, and they are great, I love them as much as the next pony, but that's all it is. They only have a few lines of funny banter, so moments like saying good bye when they think they failed or them teaming up at the end don't have the impact I think its meant to have. If the movie had a longer run time then there could have been time between the three locations where they could just bond. There are good things in this story that I liked even if they could've used more time to be expanded on. I like how everyone starts the adventure with there own goal in my. Sunny wants to bring back magic, Izzy just wants a fun time her new friends, Hitch wants to arrest Sunny, Zipp wants to fly for real, and Pipp wants to get her life back. By the end they all join forces because they want to continue being friends. I do like that the movie has a fake-out. Usually with "There was another macguffin" twists, that missing piece is what allows the heroes to succeed. Here, that doesn't happen. Instead the solution is the three tribes uniting once again which reminds me of the Friendship is magic 2 parter pilot in a good way. Plus there is the fact that the lighthouse gets destroyed. I honestly didn't expect that to happen. That is something that is used for the third act lowest point scene, which is where they think they failed because they only had two out of the three crystals at the time. While sprout is the antagonist of the movie, I like that the true villain is the world itself. It wasn't just "It's this person or factions fault", EVERYONE needed to come together to fix the rift between the three tribes. The solution has to come from them. Characters: If I were to rank them in conjuncture to the movie, Hitch and Izzy would tie for 1st, Sunny is 2nd, Zipp is 3rd, and Pipp is last. I don't dislike Pipp, but like Golden said, she's underutilized so there isn't much I can say about her. Zipp has a similar situation, but her snark and wit are funny and her relationships between her sister and Hitch are equally, if not even more, fun(even if I feel like more could have been done with both those relationships in this movie). Sunny, as the name implies, is cheerful and optimistic, for better and for worse as the movie shows. I do wish that her desperate, impulsive, character was more addressed but for what we have its good. I really like how both her and Argyle avoid the classic tropes of their characters. Sunny never questions herself or goals, she doesn't "get lost in the gray" if you will. Plus her mood swings, for lack of a better word, was interesting. She very happy and determined, but that demeanor gets shaken hard in the face of failure. This might be referenced in her last name. A "the brightest star is the quickest to burn out" type of situation. I like the little character arc she has as well. The line to Izzy at the campfire about having magic at the cost of their adventure ending stood out to me. Her goal has been to unite the tribes though restoring magic, essentially flipping the phrase "friendship is Magic" backwards. It could be possible that years of trying and failing to get people to listen to her and the passing of her father, the one that inspired her to do all of this, have made her loose sight of the real reasons behind why she is after that dream. I really like this idea as it shows the main character can be wrong and learn about her own ideology. It allows her to grow as a result. Argyle isn't the (understandably) discouraging his kid from their dream trope, he is her biggest supporter and has a good sense of humor and wit to him. He does follow the Disney parent trope of dying, but like the lighthouse being destroyed I didn't think the movie was going to do it. This is MLP, not Disney after all, and at the end of the day I am sad he's dead and I want to see more of him, even if it is only through flashbacks. Hitch and Izzy are pretty self explanatory, but I will do so anyway. I really like how Hitch the pony in the middle when compared to Sprout and Sunny. He isn't entirely against the idea of Pony unity, its just that he has excepted the world as it is, "The law is the law", and hasn't seen proof that it can happen. One thing I noticed is that while Sunny and Sprout have a parental figure to instill there beliefs, thus why they are for or against the idea of unity, Hitch doesn't have one. Instead he's influenced by the world itself, which is why is he is believes that this is how the world is while showing he is willing to change if it is shown to be possible. Josh scorcher said this in his review, he's the most real out of them. I also really like that he has a big ego and genuinely cares about ponies. I just like that combination of character traits. His good heart is what makes his bravado and egotistical side so endearing since you know it comes from a good place. Izzy is just cute, adorable, and hilarious. I love her. She is like Pinkie with her bubbly, friendly, and somewhat oblivious to the situation nature, but there are unique aspects to her. She isn't zaniness incarnate where everything is taken to 11, where she comes across as insensitive, and is a little more grounded which I like. They don't overplay it to keep kids entertained, they let the character breath. One example is when she pours her heart out at the campfire or is just having fun in Maretime bay. I'm not saying pinkie didn't have emotional moments, its just she takes everything up to 11, even her sadness. At the end of the day Izzy is presented as endearing, adorable and fun and isn't just there to be the (not) funny idiot who is a walking punch line instead of a character. Themes: "Racism is bad". Yes, but not what I wanted to talk about. The theme of unity is clear in how the story is about characters from every faction coming to together to stop a common threat. The theme of unity over division is also shown in Sprout and Phyliss. Over the course of the film, Sprout lets the power he's given go to head and begins to attack everypony that he sees as the enemy for his own vindication; to prove himself to his mother. However, he goes down the dark road so much that everyone, even his greatest supporter and peer, turns against him. But it isn't until his mother is put in direct danger that he diverts from his plan to conquer. The bond he had with someone is what saved him from crossing a line where there would be no turning back. By the end, he doesn't stand as an emperor surround by subjects, but falls alone. But there was another that I noticed about change. To paraphrase form a video that resonated with me, while one who breaks rule without purpose only cause harm, (such as Sprout's intent to go to war despite the other tribes lack of motive or means to be a threat, leading to Sunny's home being destroyed), and although rules and laws create peace (such as the idea of keeping things the way they are; keeping the three tribes isolated from each other and not cause conflict, following Hitch's line of "The law of the law"), they need to be challenged and reexamined by the new generation(no pun intended) to avoid stagnation, which is follows Sunny's belief in reaching out and challenging what is right. The story unfolds because the characters were willing to go through with their own ideals rather than accept the world and change the status quo for a better future, and they only fail by just assuming there are only two crystals instead of three and not questioning it. Together they were able to move past the old order and move towards a new one kind of peace, one that promotes progress and understanding even if through difficulty and strife. Overall, this movie is flawed in areas but there are others that really stood out to me. It's a solid (not perfect or even excellent, but solid) premiere that I did enjoy watching.
Twilight got her wings in Season 3. That feeling like it's early on is in hindsight, seeing as there were 6 more seasons (not counting the comics). But Faust intended that to be the finale. As for Sunny gaining Alicorn features early on (and I do appreciate that you don't specifically say she's an Alicorn, since the wings and horn aren't physical), it is temporary. Or considering what has been revealed at this point, it's a transformation that can be deactivated. But the reason why Sunny earned that transformation is because she's not Twilight Sparkle. My view of G5 so far is an inversion of G4. In G4, Friendship is Magic, and the main character, Twilight, has to discover the magic of friendship. In the end, she's rewarded for her growth as a character when she becomes an Alicorn Princess. G5 on the other hand is the opposite. Friendship has been forgotten, and the main character, Sunny, is the only one willing to think otherwise. In the end, she's rewarded for bringing the rest of Equestria together (or at least those three cities), by being given magical constructs in the form of wings and a horn, and no position of power. But despite the fact that she was right, the fact is that it was just a childish dream. Sunny's struggle is keeping her optimistic viewpoint in a world that's constantly telling her she's wrong. Funtionally, Sunny is the opposite of Twilight. This means that the didn't have to discover friendship. Don't get me wrong. The movie has it's flaws. But I'd rather not write an essay in the comments section to defend the movie. But it seems like I don't need to defend the movie. You seem to enjoy it nonetheless. After all, a 3.5/5 star rating isn't bad. Also, Bing Bong!
I mentioned this already, but I haven't been able to watch the movie fully so the best I can do is just give my opinions of what I have been able to seen and the similar situations that have happened in other stuff. Like I am pretty sure I wouldn't have liked the heist moment of the movie since I generally hate those kinds of scenarios when something has to be 'stolen' from someone in order to progress the plot. Heck it's why in the Gen4 MLP Movie the worst moment for me was when Twilight tried stealing that pearl. As for what I've seen of the chars, I think so far my favs are Izzy and Hitch for the reasons you pointed out. It's funny how Izzy gets compared to Pinkie because I actually compared her to Gen 1's Fizzy, who has a more similar color scheme to Izzy (plus the name) and she was pretty enthusiastic too. I am just happy that New Gen went with new chars, I would have been upset if Gen5 brought the Mane 6 back. But yeah great review, Goldie, I really enjoyed it!
I feel a new generation also took inspiration from hairspray which James Marsden was also in. It was the 2007 version of it but no song in this movie besides fit right in makes me think that some points were inspired by hairspray at least before the hip hop section in fit right in
Golden, I respect your opinion and you have some valid points to what the movie executed and committed to, but I was dissappointed in what you said about the movie AND the songs, especially that comparison with the Clarissa explains All video and the Fit Right In song and the rap portion as well. That song was fun and catchy and even the rap portion was lyrically interesting in context of the situation that the 5 of them were in, so to hear you say those things made me internally and physically frown, and the more harsher your points were, the more I didnt like your video in of itself. Again, I do not mind that you had these opinions, but I for myself, just didnt like the way you said them and it still wont deter my opinion of me thinking that A New Generation is still a good movie despite its flaws and missed executions,
This movie middle of the road for me. Moments drew me in, but at the same time, I felt my mind stray away a times. I agree with most of your take on this. Especially on Sprout who needed to be smacked upside the head at times. Great review bud!
Your review was wonderful I agree sprout and his song were ugh and the hip hop bit used to many times As for the alicorn thing I'm going with temporary powers and knowing sunnys father who was only in the first act as a collector possible historian of ancient equestrian artifacts its possible he knew his daughter was going to bring peace between all the tribes along with making new friends could be fate If you seen tell your tale they have there own agenda but still fun to watch Netflix special make your mark gave us a unique moment Gonna be my day worthy song to roller skate to x3 Izzy is a combine of pinkie and rarity THANKYOOOOU!!! ♥
I...really like the rap part of Fit Right In..It's one of my favorite parts...The rest I can agree with, but I don't know why hearing you talk bad about that part bothered me so much. I'm not trying to pick a fight or anything, everyone's welcome to like or not like what they want. I guess I kinda just want to understand the dislike of it more.
This was a very splendid and wonderful review as always Golden i love it! it's true the mlp G5 movie had it's ups and downs like all movies do but that's what made it interesting in my opinion. and i will admit that the songs for the movie were awesome, but some of them could've been better. Anyway i look forward to whatever new G5 reviews you do in the future.
@@KTWhatsup I honestly think she was better developed in Make Your Mark as opposed to her, being a plot device for karma at the expense of her facade with the Pegasi.
I enjoyed this review from you Golden Fox. Personally I liked the movie though I do understand why some people didn't like considering what was shown. Plus it did leave a LOT of unanswered questions like what happen to all the other races of Equestria like the dragons, the griffons and even the changlings. Did I spell that right? Also I hated Sprout to as the guy was annoying. Hopefully we will get our answers in the near future. Look forward to seeing your other videos.
Surprised you didn't mention Sprout standing above the crowd like Scar stood above the hyenas when he sang _Be Prepared_ in The Lion King, and I know you love that movie.
That’s because I don’t agree with the similarity. Sprout was being entitled in that song as everyone else was being stupidly sheep. Where as Scar was appropriately authoritarian with the Hyenas who were troubled with their hunger issues. There’s also that argument that Green colors were used as if that’s what Be Prepared invented for the villain tone when it wasn’t. Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty and The Evil Queen from Snow White involved green colors and they’re decades older than The Lion King.
@@GoldenFoxPictures That's a fair assessment. Even if Sprout reminds everyone of our resident Brony fireball of a unicorn only because of the color scheme, he is definitely not as humble as Firebrand is. I see Sprout as what Firebrand's passive side of his shadow is: The Momma's Boy. He gets uppity and stuff with his plans only to be complacent when it comes to his mom, i.e. Phyllis for Sprout, tells him what to do, but later on, he gives into the more aggressive shadow, from what I would say is the Overzealous Fearmonger, inciting fear in everyone else to cause trouble for Sunny and her gang. Why? Because stupid plot convenience, that's why. I honestly don't think Sprout has much conviction to keep being a villain or at the very least an antagonist for them, since we already have what seems like a more interesting antagonist in that mysterious alicorn.
Even though everyone is united again, there will be ponies that will hold on to their fearful beliefs or still be hateful towards the other factions. Maybe I'm giving this show too much credit but I really want a story dealing with an interracial couple like a unicorn and an earth pony or something and a family member is being a bigot towards one of them depending on which family gets introduced first. For example, the unicorn's family would talk down to the earth pony like their stupid, because of the earth pony = stupid, mentality that the other factions have for some reason. The earth pony family might try to put something on the horn of the unicorn so that they 'can't zap us with their lasers' and things like that.
Friendhip is magic was overrated in my opinion. Its first four seasons were good to watch but after that not really. 5 was OK but a step backwards and 6-9 were poor. This film tho wasn't too bad actully and has its good moments. Nice review as always.
I can't love MLP Gen 5 because it relates to human racism, hate, discrimination, politics and fear. It destroyed everything Gen 4 built up to and I feel like we have enough of this in reality....plus NO MAGIC ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!!!!!! *Emotionally scarred* I'm a Unicorn *horn glows with magic*
I know people have made Pinkie comparisons to Izzy, but I have wondered about Autumn Blaze the Kirin and how she parallels Izzy.

I never said he should be removed. I just found him annoying.
why should he get punished? for something that was instilled in him by his mother she even did it to the townspeople.
The lyrics for the rap breakdown are really clever tbh. It doesn’t overstay its welcome and is serviceable. Not the best, but it’s not bad either.

They don't.

I am just happy that New Gen went with new chars, I would have been upset if Gen5 brought the Mane 6 back. But yeah great review, Goldie, I really enjoyed it!
Oh, Golden, if you didn't like the one rap verse in the movie, you'd HATE a lot of the songs on G5's Tell Your Tale 😂
I feel a new generation also took inspiration from hairspray which James Marsden was also in. It was the 2007 version of it but no song in this movie besides fit right in makes me think that some points were inspired by hairspray at least before the hip hop section in fit right in
A new golden fox review? Yeahhhh!
I'm so happy that there is new MLP content coming out on UA-cam again. Great review 👍
Again, I do not mind that you had these opinions, but I for myself, just didnt like the way you said them and it still wont deter my opinion of me thinking that A New Generation is still a good movie despite its flaws and missed executions,
I thought the movie was fantastic. The only glaring flaw I could see was Sprout not going to prison for two counts of attempted murder.
This movie middle of the road for me. Moments drew me in, but at the same time, I felt my mind stray away a times. I agree with most of your take on this. Especially on Sprout who needed to be smacked upside the head at times. Great review bud!
Your review was wonderful I agree sprout and his song were ugh and the hip hop bit used to many times
As for the alicorn thing I'm going with temporary powers and knowing sunnys father who was only in the first act as a collector possible historian of ancient equestrian artifacts its possible he knew his daughter was going to bring peace between all the tribes along with making new friends could be fate
If you seen tell your tale they have there own agenda but still fun to watch
Netflix special make your mark gave us a unique moment
Gonna be my day worthy song to roller skate to x3
Izzy is a combine of pinkie and rarity THANKYOOOOU!!! ♥
I...really like the rap part of Fit Right In..It's one of my favorite parts...The rest I can agree with, but I don't know why hearing you talk bad about that part bothered me so much. I'm not trying to pick a fight or anything, everyone's welcome to like or not like what they want. I guess I kinda just want to understand the dislike of it more.
cant want it is a great movie and show enjoy goldenfox
I really like this movie. A good start to the new generation.
I love all of G5 so far
You know, I wish Ken Jeong got to sing Danger Danger because Ken can actually sing!
I can see your points on some parts of the film and I love the movie too golden
I love this Movie but My Instagram Friend is so Aggressive about it
This is going to be super fun ^^
Zipp storm is best pony
Critical, but fair.
Good review.
I enjoyed the movie ♥
he will like it it's great love it
@@brittanypopplewell5013 He said he liked it on his podcast.
@@justinriley thats nice
I actually like Sprout, he keeps the plot interesting. removing him makes the show feel dull and uninspired, his jealousy & his man-child behaviour are what keep the story engaging, he and Hitch have big potential in mlp5, I want to see Sprout prove himself instead of being ridden off he had a banger of a song, and he got deep-rooted fear from his mom when he was a kid, they are All childhood friends, so I want to see them do something crazy as friends. People should not hate or say he should go to prison because remember they were all raised on propaganda as children.
*Please stop* dissing on one of my Top 10 favorite rap songs!
My favorite character is Hitch
Question: Why didn't you talk about Queen Haven in the video? In your section on Alphabittle, you kind of implied you already talked about her.
Did I? It might have been an oversight or accident on the script since there was a lot of ground to cover.
@@GoldenFoxPictures I see. So, what are your opinions on her?
@@KTWhatsup I honestly think she was better developed in Make Your Mark as opposed to her, being a plot device for karma at the expense of her facade with the Pegasi.
Please react to sonic symphony and sonic frontiers full demo
I enjoyed the movie for what it is twice (maybe more so the second time, I can't really remember), and the animation is eye candy.
I enjoyed this review from you Golden Fox. Personally I liked the movie though I do understand why some people didn't like considering what was shown. Plus it did leave a LOT of
unanswered questions like what happen to all the other races of Equestria like the dragons, the griffons and even the changlings. Did I spell that right? Also I hated Sprout to as the
guy was annoying. Hopefully we will get our answers in the near future. Look forward to seeing your other videos.
It's was a good movie
I know zipp dream is becoming a wonderbolts just like Rainbow Dash
Awesome intro 👍😎
...Goldenfox x Hitch?
Not happening but funny to think about.
I just find it funny that Hitch and Zamasu from Dragon Ball Super have the same voice.
James Marsden?
BING BONG!
Bing bong!
