Exploring Abandoned Historical Library

- Опубліковано 7 лют 2025
- In Cleveland Ohio there is an abandoned historic library that was built in 1920.
At the time of its construction, the initial cost of the building was 69,550 dollars.
This library was constructed by architect firm Whitfield & king.
A cleveland artist by the name Ora Coltman supervised the construction of this branch from Whitfield's design.
He donated his paintings to this library, one of which you can see in one of the historic pictures.
This library was closed in 1990 and has sat abandoned ever since.
This building is in great condition to be 101 years old. I'm sure this building will be repurposed in the future.

What a wonderful old building...with normal decay. That's a tough find these days. I loved it! Thank you.
Yes this place was practically hidden
Idk if anybody else pointed this out yet, but at 18:53 you can hear a cough or giggle coming from the room nearby right before you get to that desk. I had headphones on and was able to hear it clearly.
Wow this was beautiful 😍
You're going down as the best urban explorer! Every video gets better
I remember going on a field trip to this amazing place in 1988. It's sad to see it in such decay. Thank you for keeping Ohio's history alive
Thats cool! I bet it looked nice back then! Thanks man my city cleveland needs the attention 💯
@@URBEXHILL If you can imagine the combined smell of old books and old school with the feel of knowing how much knowledge was there in all those books that sums it up. It was one of the few field trips to a place that I remember like it was yesterday.
I love your narration. You have such a good story telling voice and always look forward to your new vid notification. Awesome work as always. Oh yeah and as I've said before your so brave doing these alone explores much braver than me anyway lol! x
Thank you so much!!! I needed to hear that
No need to thank me its the truth. I always look forward to your narration at beginning. Keep up the great work x
@@URBEXHILL I agree with that person stateing you have a very nice sounding voice. And I'd explore with you. We like the same 'stuff'.
I just subbed today. 🤘👻💖
I like how you take your time to film details that enhance the quality of your video, make it a more complete portrait of the place.
( I tought for a moment you'll try those ritz cookies . Lol !)
Nice video and thanks for sharing
Thank you for realizing the little details that I put in my videos!!!!
Lol hell naw I wouldn't do it for a million dollars 🤣
I could watch all your videos over & over!! Just how you share the history of all your locations.. & w/ or without any paranormal activity… just luv it all !! Keep up the great videos.. may your channel keep growing fast because you deserve it my friend .. xoxos from Nj 🙏🏽🥰❤️
🥰 thanks for that i glad you enjoyed watching
Brilliant job documenting this place! Wishing you the best in everything you do. 👍😊✌️❤️
Thanks Chrissy!!
Chris, couldn't help thinking, you being a weight lifter and your muscled biceps were not going to make it up that little ladder! Lol Glad you didn't try! Awesome explore! Love your videos! Loved the paranormal top 5 too!
Haha 🤣 I would have probably broke the ladder.
Thanks!
😳Did you....did you crawl through that window down there? There's no way!!!🥴🤣🤣
That paper towel dang near just dissolved when you touched it! I'm loving all the little details you pay attention to and show us, it makes it feel so much more like a personal experience like we're really seeing everything through your eyes.
I've just discovered you, and I love your videos!! I'm a suckered for all abandoned sites, and you give cool historical backgrounds, and any other interesting tidbits. You don't over embellish sites that are supposedly haunted, you're respectful, thank you for sharing!! 😁👍👏💗🙌
Thanks 😊 hope you like all of my explorations. I got alot more coming soon
@@URBEXHILL op said that so well. Edit
You should work for a historical society. Something!!!
Old history architecture makes you the best explorer. Thank you for the facts about the building put in at the start of the video. Sometimes it is rough getting in the building, (window) but glad you entered and exited safely! It would be great if they could restore such a beautiful part of Ohio history. Thank you! You’re a great urban explorer!!
Thank you so much!!
With the added new windows, at least we know the building hasn't been completely forgotten.
Another amazing exploration,as always, thanks Chris ❤️
Thank you , what I like most about you is the fact that you research the locations and you school us of the background of the buildings. That’s awesome. You are the best. URBEX HILL for PRESIDENT !!! 🙏.
Awesome!!! Im so glad you enjoyed watching!
I stumbled across ur videos a few days ago and cannot stop watching!! Ur awesome but those buildings are scary. Keep up the good work and please be safe!!
It's got to be nice to have these buildings that are a bit more laid back every now and again. Heck, you even found yourself a yummy snack! :)
that is one HUGE library. thanks for showing us this video. take care and Happy New Year
Great video as usual So glad you changed your mind about climbing that ladder to attic 😱
Thanks! Yeah lol I probably would've broke it
No graffiti everywhere! Amazing find!
It's pretty rare to find an abandoned building without a single spray-painted penis on it's walls!
I love how you take your time, allowing us to take in the atmosphere. Thankyou. You really are an amazing explorer. Big fan.
That was a fascinating tour through history thanks
What a great old building, hopefully they can re purpose it. Nice vid fella thank you.

Truly hope something is done with this historic building.
@4:20 that looked like some bad ass slime mold
I love this channel. I am thinking of doing urban exploring some day
Seeing you walk on those floors scares me
These floors felt strong and sturdy
Chris you should have eaten the crackers 😅❤
This building is so beautiful! Imagine build it into a home.
BEST SHOW .
Haven't seen or commented on your videos in a while (not because of your videos, just life in general). Good to see you're still exploring and to see you get coverage on other channels (like Nuke's Top 5). And that basement is some Saw movie level sh*t there, LOL.
Thank you for your help ?
It would be a good sports bar and restaurant The second floor lounge area and be a living place.😎👍
This library was small But it was a Big Deal to kids in the neighborhood in the early to mid 80’s I Believe it’s been abandoned since early 90’s
I wldve been curious what was in all the stacked boxes... And opened up all the cabinets and desks lol
awesome...!!!
Thanks ✌️
At -- 13 : 35 -- Maybe a homeless person put them there and forgot about them. When you looked down the hallway it seemed like a dark figure was there. There are dark shaddow ghosts. I saw some come up out of the water once, but they were nice ghosts.
They were pointing to the direction where my apt was down the street. Since the storm that had suddenly come up was shaking the dock I was on because of the waves getting so high I left the park and got back to my apt as quick as possible.
If the power goes out in the building the doors don't open. I didn't even think to take the stairs, just getting into my apt and turned the light on, the building lost power.
Those ghosts did me a faver. I'd have tried to stay another 10 mins. or so, taking kool pics of the storm if they haddnt't popped up out of now where like that.
Lol very random Ritz Crackers in a Medicine Cabinet! 😃👍👍🎃🎃🎃👻👻👻❤️
Ambient resident evil type vibe
Great video. Thank you.
Got my sub 😁
Awesome
Nise taste in ur music Chris ur videos 😊
You are so cool fr 😁
Its a shame moss and (most) vines destroy the structure, I'd love to just live in an area where all the buildings are covered in green.
All I see is waste, America's favorite past time!
cordyceps fungus 😢 3:57
What kind of flashlight do you use? It is pretty cool that you can dim it and make it stronger so well!
Its not the light I'm using doing that, its me adjusting camera settings
@@URBEXHILL oooh ok. Well in that case what camera do you use?
@@icetoseeyouu a7sii
@@URBEXHILL yeah which sucks because he's dimming it so much, some people can't see shit in low light. Wouldn't recommend.
I am enjoying your videos, but a bit concerned for your health in these explorations, especially with the visible molds and unknown gases in the air. I hope that you are wearing a good mask as such exposures are seemingly benign, but affect over time. Thank you for your brave exploring. Blessings and protection to you.
Do you remember the movie theater called the Scrumptidump on 105th and Euclid ? Operating in 1977 ? Please respond?
No I don't remember that, I'm only in my 20s im probably too young to know what that place was
It was a movie theater. It sat on the corner of 105th and Euclid Avenue. Cleveland Job Corps Center used to be a hotel. It sat on the corner of 105th and Carnegie avenue , a 5car lane . Please look 👀 it up for me ? Thanks 🙏.
Cool place2turn in2a home..
Wasn’t there a face ,a man in the bushes outside the door window🤔
Well chris, i just lost my job due to being out on a covid leave and not getting it approved, thanks for keeping me sane with your video's!
Please let me know if you are familiar with the Cleveland Job Corps Center on 105th and Carnegie? It was in operations in 1977. Please respond?
No I don't remember that place either, thats long before I was born
Nice video Thanks Sir.🇵🇰💝🌹👍
God bless
Another masterfully produced explore. Every video you do makes me believe I'm there with you. Don't know anything about you but have you thought about a professional career in videography?
Thank you so much ❤
No I never considered it
👍👍👏👏
Some years ago I was tagging a building wall adjacent to the rail road tracks it was summer and nighttime and all I was wearing were sneakers so I somehow managed to stop on a rusty nail it went clean thru my foot very warm feeling no blood and no pain . No pain THEN. So I tried to pay it off didn’t have health insurance and would have had to lie about where I was . Anyways I slept over at my friend Robs house that night and a thunderstorm rolled in late or early in the wee hours and my foot started to throb and ache and hurt so bad I couldn’t sleep next day I had to get a tetanus shot lesson learned I don’t see those places anymore but if I do I’m wearing indescribable steel toe work boots you have to they just give you steadier more confident footing and stride .
Hello there, I heard about you on another channel (Nuke's top 5)that used a clip from one of your videos. That didn't inspire me to check you out as much as a couple positive comments I read.
I chose this one because it had lower views.
Just curious if you've been this libnary lately, and if it is being restored?
why did you not wear gloves that time? 🧤
Pretty dangerous I would say 😟
Idk i should tho...
Name of this library?
