I believe a local historian Harold Wright found this location about 30 or more years ago (probably not the first to know about it), I went to UNBSJ at the same time as he did and we were both in the same history class, European Expansionism taught by Professor Hawkes (RIP) in 1979. Thanks for the video I knew about this place through Harold but had never been there.
First off, great video. Keep them coming! I did not hear you talk about any batteries that may have been stationed at the Canaport facility just down the coast from Red Head. If you notice on google earth or Maps it looks like an old Gun Battery and structure at the southern end of the Facility. You know anything about this??
very cool - thanks for doing this. too bad the site can't be stabilized, but eroding banks on the Fundy shore are probably unstoppable. Similar situation on the west side of SJ.
Another excellent historical video . I lived in red head for a bit back in the 80's , I walked into that area about 5 weeks ago and it certainly eroded alot since then
My husband placed that rope you found. Hope you appreciated the knots he put in for hand holds haha! Would use it to climb up from a walk on the beach.
saints rest is just before the irving nature park right? if so on the way he should check out the CFBC radio station... gives serious fallout vibes lol
I was here after the area was clear cut in the early 2000's, about 2004. Three magazine storages were standing then. Ft. Dufferin also had two powder magazines sort of standing but heavily filled in with debris and soil (sadly both destroyed later). It's too bad these forts weren't preserved and perhaps better saved from erosion.
Okay what is it with everybody's lack of knowledge and history of where America is because America is not one country it's not the United States alone America is too continents which is North America and South America north of the equator south of the Equator these are all American countries Canada is an American country so technically Canada is American and so is Mexico and so is Brazil so is Argentina so it's chilly so is whatever countries Down Below on the South American countries so check your geography and head back to class kids and find out where America is on your map and I will do a video for UA-cam and posted explaining where America is

Another great video Mike,,Ty, very interesting.
Awesome videos
Thanks for watching
I appreciate your channel being a Saint Johner. My brother lives behind that field. My Dad would take us to all of these spots when we were so young.
I grew up in Red Head and still live there. I played around the bunkers as a kid and still enjoy visiting what is left of the battery. Great video!
Just went there with my kid today, awesome little field trip.
Wow, grew up here and had never heard of this before. Great job!
Thanks for watching!
Thank you! Very interesting. The drone shows how this site is so precarious and soon to be lost.
Thanks for watching!
Lmao that's my dad's sketchy rope, my family lives in the area.

Re my comment above, maybe this is the one Harold Wright was talking about. I know it was out Red Head area.
Why isn’t it a national historic site? With it’s history, it should be!

Have you thought about looking at the structures in Saint's Rest Marsh? From 1700's drainage tile to WW2 shooting range (I think)
Yes I have and I may do a video in the future. Thanks for the suggestion.

I suggest to get a good look at partridge island if you can before its completely gone from raising water.
Hopefully someday we can restore this fort to its formal Glory.
Out by my mom's old place
It's a shame that this history is disappearing, and soon will be gone.
Well Done
