S1 - Ep 504 - Delareyville, North West!

  • It was a bumpy drive from Stella to Delareyville. As we entered the town, it was evident that agriculture played a significant role in its existence. While we were thrilled to arrive at the station, it was disheartening to see such a beautiful stone building in ruins. However, we were pleased to find the station nameboards intact. We ordered supper, visited the golf course, and found the memorial of General De la Rey before heading to our accommodation at Die PlaasJapie, which was fantastic. The next morning, despite the icy cold weather, we felt good after our visit to Delareyville. #DustBugs #dustbugstravel #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #travelongravel #northwest #delareyville #stella

    Hi guys another agricultural town with a massively amount of cylos the cbd was busy love the sign LAWFUL water lol lots of churches and the NGK shared with the NG of Africa stunning and lovely gardens .the General Deleray memorial was very interesting love the battle maps .sad about the pool and the sports fields but the bowls club still thriving. The modern NGK CHURCH of transvaal different. The suburbs nice and tidy loved the statues outside the big house .the restaurant looked inviting. The entrance to the golf club was amazing with the tees and balls and the lawn darts a new one on me!!! .topnotch accommodation with lovely grounds and buffalo only in South Africa 🇿🇦 wow guys minus 4 no wonder there was frost on the car .what an amazing sight the flamingos. The fields opposite my house are being harvested at the moment but the Harvesters are a bit smaller lol 😆. Migdol was a fitting name and only on dustbugs you get to see the grain shoot in action. My Afrikaans is improving plaasjapie means farm yocal .brilliant video thanks for taking me along cheerio till the next one

      I also enjoyed the battle names with their dates, that was a unique feature of that monument for me. 🏛️ Nice to see you're fast becoming a plaasjapie yourself, I love that! 😁🧑🏻‍🌾 Those harvesters were huge and so fascinating.

      Yes, neglect and decay are never easy to witness, but we'll never polish up the footage we include in our videos. They will reflect any town exactly as we found it at the time of our visit, including the sad bits, which we find in every single place we get to. 🚙🤷🏻‍♂️

      The two-stone stone was exquisite, we haven't seen the blue stone all that often before. At least the station nameboards are still there, which was of some consolation to us. 🚉 We appreciate you exploring Delareyville with the two of us!

    Glad to see that the churches are at least intact and obviously well-cared for. It's tragic to see the other derelict, trashed and abandoned buildings and installations. I keep on asking myself why, why, why?! Your accommodation for the night at Die PlaasJapie appeared very tranquil and peaceful. Thank you for the stop.

    I was expecting the song of Delarey to be playing as the drone flew over the buffaloes. . The - 4 C frost put paid to that. So sad to see the railway station building and the swimming baths in such a poor condition. At least the golf club and the bowling club are still in working order. I loved Sonia's choice of meal for Curtis. Dit is mos n mansmens se soort kos. You cannot beat a good chop, wors , steak followed by two fried eggs and slap chips.🍟🥖🥩🍳 Lekker ! And lets not forget the Lion Lager to wash it all down.. As soon as I saw the flamingos I began to think of "Pretty flamingo " by Manfred Man. Those grain silos are just incredible .So many of them and they are huge. What a credit to the farmers of that district. My wife did not like the bath and toilet exposed to the bedroom at the Plaas Jaapie.. No shower either. But still a very nice place to stay.

    • @DustBugsTravel
      @DustBugsTravel  Місяць тому +2

      I was just as disappointed about the drone, but it was bitterly cold that morning. 🥶 If UA-cam didn't have such strict copyright policies, I may have been tempted to play De La Rey. We were humming it all day. Yup, everyone has different preferences and luckily we didn't have an issue with the open bathroom at all. 😁

    There was a time in history when the NG church and the Hervormde Kerk amalgamated ( as you saw on the church cornerstone)….. it only lasted for a short period before they split up again. The Dutch Reformed church in Africa (Hervormde Kerk is mainly a Transvaal church and you will surely find a congregation in almost every town on this trip.

    History between, the two Afrikaner churches.....NG and NH. Round about the Great Trek the NG split in two congregations. Nederduitse Gereformeerd and Hervormd. Their was again a split in to three when the Gereformeerd was form in the 1870's. Some of the NH algamated with some of the NG and form the Nederduitse en Hervormende Kerk......who was against "sendeling" [bring the Word of God to the black tribes] Today their is only three NG, NH and Gerofomeerd. In 1983 another with the Afrikaanse Protestantse Kerk
