Matthieu has extensive experience in Muay Boran, Kyokushinkai Karate and Shotokan Karate. He has also studied judo and French boxing during his career.
His travels also took him to Japan, where he explored the cultural roots of Aikido.

We show what martial art we train together in Rostock, what path we follow in Aikido. Aikido is a way that welds together. Aikido is a martial art but does not lead to the ring. The martial art trains social skills, long-term and holistic fitness and much more. The competition does not exist in the martial art, yet we maintain training components (GoNoGeiko: hard, realistic practice) which represent a kind of competition.

We have to thank you for sharing your experience with us. In particular, for working out the similarities with the various other martial arts you are involved with. Akido can do so much if you don't just focus on "dancing"...
