Arabian and Chinese, just a couple, are supposed to represent different enjoyments in the Kingdom of Sweets that are performed for Clara to enjoy. Arabian represents coffee and Chinese represents tea. There are also so many more.
clara has a christmas party where her favorite uncle gives her a nutcracker, later that night she sneaks down stairs to play with the doll and falls asleep, she then hallacinates that giant mice are attacking her and her nutcracker doll comes alive to save her, the nutcracker turns into a prince and takes her through the land of snow and then to the land of sweets where the sugar plum fairy and her court of sweets dance for her....then clara wakes up. thats about the jist of it.

Yeah, most characters at the party don't have names, you're just a "party kid" or "party adult". When the small company I danced with did Nutcracker the first time, the girl our director chose for Clara was the youngest, but she was fairly tall, so all our party kids were 5'4~5'7 (because he didn't want to use students from the school), and most of our party moms were shorter because that's all that was left. It looked ridiculous.

That says a lot about the respect they have for each other, not that every aspect of their job is great because it’s a very flawed community.

For a trained dancer, I can see how it might be too easy (especially if there isn’t much acting), but the productions that bring in real dancers’ dads… those are so fun (my kids beg their dad to audition for party dad and the choreography is plenty interesting for someone not formally trained!).
