Even the thrown ball at Laimbeer was an exhibit of Birds threading the needle.
80's & 90's NBA was and will always be the best Era
Larry threw that ball over everyone and as accurate as always, he got him lol
Ahhh Bill Laimbeer. One of the best linebackers to ever play the sport of basketball…
Bird was a real bad-ass.........wasn't intimidated, and always stood up for himself and his teammates.....and boy would he make you pay....... the greatest era of basketball...
I was a lakers fan during this time. But no one can deny Larry Bird was one bad ass ball player
How about Adrian Dantley getting called twice for traveling? Coincidentally, that was the last time an NBA referee call the travel in a game.
Anybody who disrespected Bird instantly regretted it.
There is absolutely no way a team of today's league could handle a game/series like this.
Laimbeer was one of the dirtiest bstrds ever to play the game. That was a big part of Detroit's game plan. Foul often enough and hard enough, and the zebras can't/won't call them all. I know Detroit fans loved it, but seeing Laimbeer whining like a schoolgirl after Bird bounced the ball off his head made me smile.
Bill Lambeer was a dirty player. Those who played against him like Bird can attest. He would intentionally put his foot underneath players rebounding to try and sprain their ankle when they landed.
The thought that Bird would have ever considered wearing anything but a Celtic jersey just shows how the current NBA has ruined all epic riveralys like this one with the Celtics/Pistons!
Seeing traveling called by the refs is amazing, I almost forgot what that was like. Today's NBA players travel all day long and are almost never called for it. The modern game sucks, it really does.
Larry said, "Don't let these golden feathered locks fool you; I'll bust your a$$" 😂

Laimbeer was a punk and those Detroit teams played dirty.
I was in HS watching Bird and Magic. Those were “magical years”, never to be repeated.
My dad bought Dallas Mavericks season tickets year one in 1981-82. His estate had them until 2013. l saw every game Bird or Jordan came to Dallas among others in the 80s/90s. Thats why lm a boomer when it comes to telling younger fans lots of players seen as great today would not have thrived in those times when you were getting hit and thrown to the floor. M Jordan played 9 complete seasons when the NBA was essentially pro hockey w/o the protection. thats the greatest feat of all.
That ball tossed at Lambeer was actually quite the throw. Right through 5 or 6 players right at the thugs head. Score! Three points!
“Larry Bird played every minute of this game” unbelievable physical feat
