  • Well Cartagena is no Medellin or even Bogota when it comes to rental and real estate prices in general. Small 2/2 on Castillo Grande for almost $1,600 usd plus you pay all the utilities and cable. Add another few hundred. US prices for sure. You have to pay to live near the water. Water view is expensive. You only live once. Go for it if you really want it.

      Wzup. It will depend on the cost to move it to Cartagena. I only have a few big pieces on purpose. When I make a final decision on a place to stay I will hook up my spot. I can throw this stuff out and rent a furnished place for a year in Cartagena.

    For some reason it feels like you still look like a foreigner. They are picking you out. I love Cartagena and it is my preferred spot. I don't seem to have those problems after my first trip out there. For Taxis I give the price before getting in because I've learned the local prices. If they don't want it I wait for another. They always seem readily available. Aside from the beach area vendors don't bother me or the wife really. Staying near the beach is very enticing but yeah you do pay for it. On each trip out there I stay a little bit farther from the tourist area and the environment changes considerably. They have some very nice low key areas where locals live and move and I've found that in those areas you get a pretty good bang for your buck. Nice apartments, secure, access to local shopping areas, for $900 and under. Good luck to you buddy, I see you doing your homework. Whatever you decide I hope you like it. That coastal vibe just strikes me so much more than the inner city vibe and that heat..... I love it......

      Thanks for the info. I have been in Cartagena about 6 times. I think Manga might be the perfect location for me. Still expensive compared to place like Alto Bosque but I want that water view. I just saw one advertised for $3,300,000 in a nice bldg in Manga. 3 br/2 bath. Nice bldg. I wish I was ready now.

    Carlton you should consider getting a local to pose as the renter 1st and then insert yourself after a decent price is secured. Or you can always go to Mexico or Panama and get a nicer place with the same if not better view.

    Aren't Uber and Didi available in Colombia? Those generally have a set rate and the driver can't change the price since it's already been set on the app.

    • @CarltonsTravelAdventures
      @CarltonsTravelAdventures  2 роки тому

      I use 4 of those services in Medellin. You will have to wait a bit longer for Uber on Boca Grande and they did not have the other 3 services in Boca. I did use Uber on my way back to the airport. Taxi said $22,000 pesos and they would not budge. I called the Uber for $12,000.

    I live in San Marcos, California ( San Diego county) Five years ago a single wide trailer 400 Square feet , built on 1965. The low rental price $1400,00 not including utilities. The places rented in one week. $1600,00 sounds good to me. Thanks

    • @muchit3629
      @muchit3629 2 роки тому +1

      I hear you but It is not comparable. That is apples to oranges. There is something called purchasing power parity. Minimum wage in Colombia is say $300 to be generous. In the US lets say about $2,000 a month. So if you pay $1,200 to $1,600 in Colombia that is equivalent to paying about $7,000 to $11,000 a month in the US. Off course if you have money it is fine but these places seem overpriced unless they are targeted to well to do foreigners. If a local can afford that much , why would they not just buy one instead of paying such exorbitant prices.

      I think it is worth about $1,200. Boca Grande in Cartagena is probably the most expensive place in Colombia. They keep building taller and nicer towers. The prices keep going up.

    • @CarltonsTravelAdventures

      No meters. Just give you a price. I always ask before I get in. I have an idea of the cost but some of them will insist on the Gringo price and leave you instead of taking the correct price a Colombian would pay. Crazy.

      Ok Jay. You seem to know a ton about me. JEJE. What was I paying in Miami on Bayshore Drive? 24th floor about 100 yds from the water (bay). Short walk to the Miami arena. In the Spring I would get up at 5:30 and go out and catch Trout before work when they are spawning. It was great. But you are correct I would not pay $1,600 for this spot just because its over priced. If its still available when I return in March to lock something down I will offer him $1,200.
