I really like Shang Tsung's little "no...no..." as he starts to disappear. The Sorcerer deserved the despair he felt as he disintegrated.
He deserved EVERY SINGLE ATOM OF PAIN he got in that scene.

I think what really sold this scene for me was the complete look of fear in Shang's eyes: that sudden strong realization that there are no more second chances, no more bargains, no more tricks to be had - his life, even though he definitely didn't want it to be, was coming to a final abrupt end - and above all, he would die without anything to show for it when Liu Kang resets the timeline again; that look spoke more than any one line could have said. My only complaint is that Shang Tsung didn't use every move he had in his arsenal: Ground Eruption, Fire Skull, Screaming Soul, Shapeshifter's Training (the ninja moves) and others to ultimately fight Liu Kang with; Shang should have known that the chosen one was not to be underestimated, especially when he achieved godhood and beat Kronika with that power.
Well he's back now
You described perfectly what that scene was. It spoke much louder than any sentence could've. For once, shang reminded us and himself of his humanity, and we get to see it when the despair and fear hits him, as he realizes this is it. For eternity. The best part was the soft "no, no" that he said, almost as if he's trying to deny what's happening and doesn't want to believe it's over for him. His existence now is only flowing through words and peoples memories, but nothing of him remains in the universe, not even the damage he did in the world. He's gone and he's just now a memory.
It's a little sad when you think about it on his part and it kinda made me feel sorry for him, but considering all he's done, he deserved every second of that. Probably one of the few best scenes in the game and of course great performance from cary, yet again.

My first thought was getting Liu Kang's ending, then I got Shang Tsung's just to see what would happen, I'm all for Liu Kang's ending here

Liu Kang ending is the best and most awesome ending it concludes an entire saga of MK yet opens up for a new one flawlessly

4:39, after wearing the crown, liu kang went into creative mode
Things really came full circle in this story, with the exception of the disappointing Sindel retcon. It ended how it started - with Liu Kang vs Shang Tsung. I hate how they downgraded/downplayed Shao Kahn, Shinnok, and other bosses throughout the series, but they had some great concepts. If the series ended here, I wouldn't be mad. If they made an MK-12, I think the franchise would need a complete makeover.
I thinks that's the reason they make this ending. It's open a whole new level of possibility for the game.
Well, I've read somewhere, can't remember where, that this will be Ed Boon's last MK game. Maybe he'll retire after this or Injustice 3?

Eh at least they attempted to give some explanation to the retcon. They tried 🤷♂️, but I was more focused how EPIC the return of Shang Tsung was! Especially in his final fight with Liu Kang! 😍👌🤗
This ending fits well with a longtime theory of mine-after mk11 and its expansions, i predict Netherrealm will create a “MK Legends” game centered on earlier tournaments before the modern era. Youd see the great kung lao, a young goro, a much younger sindel, and other age old characters.
Younger sindel better not be the thot that she is in this timeline. NRS better correct her retcon in the next game

This would have been perfect if it happenes in the future, I feel like the main MK story has been driven waaay too long, not to mention a few re-writes.
They should absolutely do this after the final Liu Kang vs Shang Tsung epic final battle.

I think it's very fitting that when given the chance, Liu Kang chose to go back and train Kung Lao himself so that his best friend didn't have to feel inferior and become bitter like he did. He truly came to him so that he didn't need to compare himself to Liu Kang because Liu Kang is the one training him to become as strong as possible

Turns out Kollector was Thanos the whole time. He snapped at the beginning of the story, but he delayed Shang Tsung’s dusting until the end.

I love the fact that MK11 did two things EXCEPTIONALLY well: Put Liu Kang and Shang Tsung back on the Mount Rushmore of Mortal Kombat, as well as completely wiping the slate clean for a true reboot of the series. Also I like how the Great Kung Lao is extremely humble and modest, while his descendant is over confident and jealous. Not to say he's a bad character, not at all, just really damn cocky at times.

mortal kombat 11 had such an awesome storyline and the fights felt really smooth
I love the latest direction they went with.
The awesome stuff to come in Mortal Kombat's future is absolute potential for greatness in it's next chapter.
I like how Liu said his friends wasn't gone and that they will live again, in my new era. Which means he saw this fight already (while he is wielding the hourglass) and that he won it. Shang couldn't see past this fight (his own death) which means he lost this battle. The best part about it is he saw Shang kill Shao Kahn and Sindel and figured - well that's two birds with one stone. Just let me swoop right in at the end and handle some loss ends🤣
I'm happy that kung Lao is the next chosen one and he will be different from the other one who was jealous but I love them both they are pretty chill

Anybody has any guesses, how Liu Kang managed to defeat Shang Tsung, if even with Kronica he barely coped? Shang Tsung had absorbed Kronika's soul, had crown, was experienced fighter. The only reason I find, is that Liu Kang used the energy of the hour glass, to kill Shang Tsung, seems like he gained control of it because he had managed to come to the hour glass earlier.
OK so i'm not that well versed in MK lore but the simplest explanation to me would be that Shang Tsung has only just got a massive power up and was simply unused to wielding such power, which made him easy picking for weaker, but used to his power, Liu Kang.
Also Shang Tsung is an arrogant and greedy bastard so he was likely unwilling to let go of the power, even briefly, and fall back to his usual tricks which would have ironically probably given him a better chance.
That little smirk at the end was so good
