NICE! I used to go to this Geauga Lake when it was open, and is one of the places I never made it back around to film after it was abandoned.

I grew up an hour from Geauga Lake. Sea World was a favorite weekend trip for our family 2-3 times a summer in the 70's early 80's. Seeing some of my favorite childhood memories reduced to this is just depressing. As I get older I begin to understand what my grandmother meant when she said she had lived too long.

I used to work for Wildwater Kingdom for 5 years and before that I was a passholder for the waterpark and would visit at least every summer since Sea World days. I primarily worked in the area at the beginning of the video. The first building used to be the 4D theater ride back when it was Sea World @4:00 that was coral cove, it was a pool with a floaty alligator and sea turtle and that round part have a whirlpool. The lazy river wrapped around behind coral cove. The party pavilion on the deck that is out in the lake used to be the bridge that crossed to the other side of the park in the Six Flags days and the tracks near it used to be a bridge that went up to the catering kitchen/staff area behind the wave pool. @18:00 that was the aquarium.

39:22 I've lost count of how many times that i walked through that security building over a period of 10 seasons (1995-2005). It brings back good memories of how things used to be. I sometimes wonder what it would have been like if Anheuser Busch had not sold the Sea World portion to Six Flags. Hopefully they'll find a way to preserve some of what remains.

I feel sad seeing this. It's bittersweet because I love to see what's left, but I also feel sad because it was such a big part of my childhood. Once Six Flags and Cedar Fair took control of Geauga Lake the best years were behind us. Cedar Fair purposely destroyed Geauga Lake to drive traffic to Cedar Point. Sad to say good bye to my childhood. Nice video though!

29:56 to the right was the filtration building to the Pinniped Community Pool and just farther down was the Fish House where all the seafood for the animals was thawed and prepared daily.

27:45 This is where they would dive for pearls. There used to be a counter where they would crack open the oyster and reveal the pearl. Later on, they got lazy and just put fake pearls in there. This would lead to a long pier where you could go over to the roller coaster side. I am not trying to be mean. But there is nothing cool about seeing this park destroyed like this. Many of us grew up going to Sea World and Geauga Lake. I remember even in the winter with my dad driving by as we went to Aurora outlets and having my jaw drop as I saw all the coaster sitting there in the winter and remember how I could not wait for the park to open. Driving down Aurora road and seeing the Needle from far away. You knew you were getting close. I believe if the park was still around with the shopping center that draws thousands of people every day now, with them putting in a resort on the lake, and a hotel, finding a way to get a free way exit closer, keeping Sea World, having a water park, and expanding Aurora road to three lanes or more, this park would still be around today.

@@nearandfarexplorers5125 I hear ya. I have been driving past there a lot over the past few months. Every single time it breaks my heard. The memories I had as a child. The memories I should have had with my kids. Fact is Cedar Fair wanted it gone. They did very little to market that place. But where the big mistake was, not putting in hotels or a resort. With the way solon, aurora has grown over the last 20 years, and with that new shopping center attracting all sorts of retail right next door, it would have been a huge hit again.

This is bittersweet to see what’s left really sad to see what it’s come to. This is what greed creates unfortunately we lost amazing parks that were a staple for many generations and now it’s lost to just memories 😢. So glad I got to grow up and experience these places it was absolutely educational and fun for everyone!!!! Invest money into the old school parks it’s not always about bigger faster rides but variety and selection for everyone to enjoy what happened to those days let’s bring it back!!!!😢
