Thank you so very much for this video. I followed it without any problems. What it did do tho, is start by chain 28, then chain 33 to begin the mask. When finished, crocheted another 28. then joined each side for ears. Altho the ear straps were a little big, I will be making a strap for the back of head with the 2 buttons. That should make it fit better. Keep up the good work Dawn

Thank you for posting this. I adjusted your pattern for use with Size 3 Crochet Cotton. It worked up very nicely and has less bulk than the four ply cotton.

Wow! This is the best crocheted mask I've seen that hold a removable filter. I love this and will make one tonight. I use Heppa bag cutouts (from old vacuum filter bags) because they keep out dust, pollen, and bacteria. Thank you for demonstrating this.

Thank you for this easy to follow pattern. Turned out great. Fits perfect. I ordered some of those filters from Amazon. Should be here soon. I'm making my second one now. Thanks so much for sharing your idea. I know I'll be busy making several for my co-workers.
Wanted to add, I found out some healthcare workers had used these filters to create N95 masks for each other when supplies were low.

Just got done making one for my twin, it came out really well! I cheated a little on the ear loops; instead of snipping the yarn and reattaching it to the other side, I just did single crochet stitches all along top of the mask to get to the other side. Those stitches actually reinforced the mask and gave a little curl so it holds on to the nose better. I'll be making another one for her fiance soon. Thank you so much for sharing this pattern!

Great minds think alike!! I'm a crocheting Family. My daughters are 16 & 14 yrs old. As soon as the CDC said that everyone should be wearing masks, we started talking about crocheting a mask. Coming up with ideas and how to do it & so forth. I was left with how to come up with the filter. I thought of a few things. I got to tip #7 & I said "What about using the AC filter?!" I went to the closet & got one out that I just purchased & sure enough, it was PERFECT for the masks!! They're definitely a little bit warm on the face, but it's better to be safe & healthy!! We've already washed ours, too. We've washed them by hand in hot water with Dawn dish soap, rinsed in cold water until the water ran clear. Some may not know this, but HOT water actually builds bacteria up rather than killing it, so ALWAYS rinse it in cold water. I learned this fact when my daughter had you have a tracheotomy tube put in place, & we would have to wash out her tubing for the suctioning machine, tracheotomy tube, etc. The Bio-Chemicals, Drs., Nurses, home nurses, told us that was the BEST way to keep from having any bacteria/viruses to grow in/around her items at home & the tracheotomy tube in her neck. She's NEVER had a sore, infection, chapped necked, etc.! Just a little tip I thought I would share. I know most of us were brought up thinking hot water to clean with was the only way it was clean!! I'll clean with hot water but I'll go behind & wipe down with a brand new cold rag to make sure I'm not allowing any bacteria/viruses grow!! I know that not everyone will believe in this & that's ok. Just something I wanted to share. May God bless you all! Stay Safe & Stay Healthy!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I use cold water too! Even on kitchen rags or cleaning rags! Great info and folks can always google the info to verify if they don’t believe it. I started using cold water after my son ( he was very little then lol) said the germ’s catch pneumonia and die momma. I then looked up the info. The irony of his young innocent word’s. Blessings and stay safe!

Here in East Tennessee the hospitals are saying to use 100% cotton because you can take it home and bleach it. My daughter in law works in a hospital they r saying the closes u wear the virus will cling to it make sure you take it off and put it in the washer machine immediately.
Thk u I like ur Utube. I made one back in Jan I put it on a group I’m with on FB they all laughed at me for crocheting one now looks like we all have to do what we have do. To stay healthy.

wow---thank you so much--I have been sewing, but I think crocheting would be faster---I just love how you repeatedly say that you are not saying these are the safest, but that they are better than nothing---when I give masks to someone, I also write a disclaimer saying that the mask is not 100% safe---I would hate for someone to get sick thinking that they were safe---you explain very well---thanks!!! God bless---

Child’s Face Mask With Fliter Tutorial can be found by clicking on this link -> ua-cam.com/video/IwAOm6DwtIY/v-deo.html And the Pleated 3M filter is made of
Plastics #5 Polypropylene (PP) (not fiberglass) and is considered to be the safest of all plastics, this is a robust plastic that is heat resistant. Because of its high heat tolerance, Polypropylene is unlikely to leach even when exposed to warm or hot water. ... Polypropylene plastics can be re-used safely and with hot beverages. While having said all of this, I would like to again remind you all, as I did in my video 3 times, I am not an expert and I don’t claim that these will keep you safe. These are what I made for my family after reading CDC guidelines on face coverings.

Even Angels Cry I’m sorry I didn’t make another video on this. You need to take your yarn and put some on a crochet needle then sew the back to the front just like you were darning a sock or sewing on a button, but instead of knotting off at the end you work in the yarn. If you need further help I can send you a personalized video. However to do that you would need to msg me on Instagram or Facebook- you can find those in my description ❤️❤️

I would suggest a cotton blend, it is a lot more comfy and easy to breath, that's what I have been using is a cotton and acrylic blend, less scratchy and easy to breath

Hi, I love your video. I have 4 medium acrylic. Can I use that?

cheryl grier you can use whatever feels comfortable on your face. I used a 4 medium acrylic. However, I did use a smaller hook and crocheted tightly. Also, I have heard cotton is better, but I used what I had. It’s all a personal choice. ❤️❤️❤️

Great video. When you used the baby sport yarn, what size hook?

Since air filters are typically not replaced that often, I would think that the filter sheets you cut would be reusable for at least four or five wears. Are you sure you need to replace them after only one wear? Hopefully I didn't misunderstand you.

Sr Ho, as I stated in my video. I am doing what I think is best for my family after my own personal research. I am not an expert. I would encourage you to visit the websites I have in my description above and to make the choices that are best for you. ❤️ thank you for watching.
