Listening to this series makes me realize how blessed I am to have had a dad that broke the cycle and acted like a man, figuring it all out as he walked closer to God every day. He passed away in August way too young. He was an excellent example of a mature God fearing man. He left behind a great legacy. All his 5 kids and spouses, and 19 grandchildren know the Lord.
You are very blessed to have that. I think the struggles I've had in life mirrors what a lot of other men have dealt with as well. I'm the one in my family who has to break the cycle that my father has made. He's an addict, acts immaturely, and has had no sense of direction since my mom passed away. There were lots of his bad habits that I carried on into my own adult life that I've had to fight hard to break. I have young sons now, and I want to be the example that my father wasn't. But it's much more difficult when you have to figure it out on your own. When you don't have a father that can show you a good example, you tend to do what you've seen from him. It's natural. So like I said previously, figuring out how to be a man on my own has been a difficult process and taken me longer than I would have liked. But thanks to the lord, I've learned better and better each day how to be a man.

Yes but he said that explicitly because then a man could use all of his time to serve Christ and preach the gospel. So if you are choosing not to get married you better be doing double for the Lord, dont use it as an excuse to become lazy

We do need to learn from mistakes. Mistakes are not sin unless they're made by ignoring the word of God and godly counsel. I agree we can't rush to call mistakes sin but we should be as careful to avoid rushing to call our wilful sin a mistake. We should call sin what it is and repent and receive grace and grow in wisdom. We should call mistakes what they are and recover because of grace and grow in wisdom.
That's the issue... they want a wife without the responsibility and accountability. They still want the freedom and benefits of being single. Sadly, it's not just young men, it's men over 60.
Question.... I walk through life by faith. I talk and pray to God and Jesus daily. Pastor Mark often talks of asking and communicating with God. Does God actually talk to some of you? Ive personally seen His work in my life but I dont think Ive ever heard Him talk to me.
No, people are not saying that they hear words. They are saying that through prayer wisdom is given to them and it is this that they are calling God "speaking" to them.
By the way, the longest COVID lockdown was about 16 weeks and that wa California. Every other state was about 12 weeks. I get we don't like the lockdowns because churches were also closed, but if 16 weeks is not enough to throw a whole generation of men backwards. The failure started long before COVID.

This guy came to us three years ago and asked if he & his wife could stay with us because a hurricane in Florida where they lived was causing evacuations. I had no idea this was a covert long term plan to live on my property! My kindness & grace for someone who has an addiction, who uses excuses and rationalizes his behavior has reached a limit.
