And I still think this is a very smart move. Because just as they know the majority of their income would come from gotcha systems, not copyright anything naturally makes more content creators take a look for free, hence they got free source of advertisement than other games. Though I still remember they threw in lots of investment on TV ads when HI3 first came out. I could still remember seeing their ads twice every ad section and it was the first two animated shorts.
the multiverse version of grown up Seele and Bronya are also in Star Rail. Silverwolf in Star Rail is another version of Hexxor Bunny Bronya of HI3. Personally prefer HI3 versions of them;
Himeko also appear in both Star Rail and HI3. All HI3 captains are very, very protective of Himeko in Star Rail;

If you want to watch the version trailers, the official playlist is HIGHLY INACCURATE. Find a playlist with 74 trailers, that’s the correct number.
Yes, Reburn 2 was actually the Honkai Star Rail concept trailer. And yes, that was March 7th in the trailer. Keep in mind Welt Yang is the only character that is the same character in both games - everyone else is an alternate universe version of their HI3 or Genshin counterpart (assuming duplicates). That being said, the Himeko of the HSR universe actually did cameo in a HI3 prequel/supporting manga, and that cameo is believed to be what caused Welt to go to the universe of Star Rail.
The third character in that trailer is Carole Peppers, who is a HI3 character in the “A Post-Honkai Odyssey” story, which takes place 8 years after the end of Ch 35 of the main story. Carole Peppers was originally going to be a character in the HSR story, but the developers obviously went in another direction.
Keeping this in mind, HSR takes place at least 8 years after the end of Ch 35 of the main HI3 story.

Btw these weren't the pv's these are cenimatics for the end of chapters ( they are in the game and almost all the abilities the charecters use are part of their gameplay)
Most of those videos aren't trailers but epilogues to each story arc so they are canon to the story.
It's kinda Honkai Impact tradition to have animated shorts to each story arc and they can also be watched in-game.
Doesn't seem like this tradition will carry over to Honkai Star Rail but it has epic boss fights instead.
Well, if you don't plan to play it anyway (Genshin and Star Rail is already a lot yeah) but still want to know more, I suggest you react to the "Honkai Chronicles" videos (because we can't explain more than 200 hours of story in the comments obviously). They explain EVERYTHING : The setup of the world but also the story of the characters. You can find a playlist of all of them on the official youtube channel.

@@TheOfficialV2One thing I want to say is that these are not trailers, but actual cutscenes you will see in game when you reach the end of a story arc. Now if there is a weird term usage for calling these trailers that I'm not aware of, then my bad. Now as to explaining the shorts themselves... bit tricky without turning this comment into a 5 page essay even with the simplest form of a explanation. But I have hope someone in the comments will do a better job then me at explaining the shorts. And the reason I say this is not because its super complicated or anything like that, but rather since the animated shorts happen at the end of a story arc it requires alot more to explain. Unlike other cutscene in games that happen at any point, beginning of a chapter, the middle, end, or in-between.

Well, there are... you just need to turn them on. Some hoyo videos have integrated subs and some use youtube ones.
EDIT1: Main HI3 Bronya, Bronie/Haxor Bunny, Victorian Bronya, Silver Wolf and Belobog Bronya are dimensional alternates of each other. Prometheus make it more complicated as HI3 one is pretty much another Bronya but Silver Wolf just had to have alt version herself as her own AI, lol.
The only one in Star Rail who is outright from HI3 is Welt.
There's a possibility that Luchoa is Void Archive because I remember that Welt traveled to the Star Rail universe with him(it?) And Himeko(HSR) mentioned that she met Welt and his friend(Void Archive)during an errand for Herta

I played too much this kind of game and i am still amazed by the animation they put on every combo specially on finality
these animated shorts are essentially to wrap up different story arcs for the characters/world so there's a lot going on in game in between them, to provide some context you could check out the honkai chronicles (a sort of tl/dr on the story at the point of yeah animation)
to see gameplay and hear some more insane music themes the pv trailers essentially act as version updates and character demos (like in genshin) together in one. its currently at version 6.9 with version 7.0 going live next week i think.
also while males appear in the story sometimes, there are no playable males in honkai impact 3rd, except in A Post Honkai Odyssey (APHO) which is a separate game mode set in the future 8 years after the end
To give you an idea of what's going on:
Honkai is a force of destruction that has a purpose of erasing humanity.
Shicksal is a group that makes Valkaries (like himeko) and they fight honkai. They are led by otto apocalypse
Anti entropy is another group (that control the robots seen in the first trailer) they also fight the honkai but they are against using valkaries to do it so they use high tech robots instead.
Herrshers are people who have authority over one aspect of the power of honkai (reason or void or thunder etc.)
Usually herrshers are evil but sometimes people who got the herrsher core (what makes someone a herrsher) they can gain control and become a "good" herrcher.
In the beginning kiana (poster girl/MC) with her friends mei and bronya were training to be shicksal valkaries.
Kiana had the herrscher of void inside her and she lost control when she became emotionally unstable and the herrshcer took control causing what happened in the first trailer.
THE REST OF THIS COMMENT I WILL EXPLAIN DETAILS ABOUT SOME OF THE TRAILERS SO MAJOR SPOILER ALERT (I tried to make everything as spoiler free as i can so even if you decide to read it shouldnt affect you playing through the story!)
After first trailer himeko tried to save kiana and kinda succeeded by sacrificed herself in the process (RIP) kiana went into a depression arc until she slowly started controlling her powers
trailers with bronya and seele explanations: bronya and seele grew up in an orphanage together. Seele underwent an experiment and got transported to the sea of quanta (a realm full of chaos were every possiblility of the universe collapses together)
Bronya went into the sea of quanta to find seele. With the help of someone called welt she obtained the core and became the herrsher of reason. And saved seele then they got trapped again and "seele" saved bronya
Mei vs kiana fight: kiana wanted to sacrifice her life and submit to honkai and eventually die so herrcher of void dies. Mei didn't accept that and made a deal with someone called Kevin. Kevin gave mei her old powers and reawakened her as the herrcher of thunder and then she stopped kiana from sacrificing herself
For the rest of the trailers it will be too hard to explain them in this way cause this stuff gets extremely deep and amazing (not that anything else before wasn't but it was slightly more straight forward) so unless you want me to fully explain everything I'd be happy to help!

Star Rail takes place in a parallel universe. Only Welt is the only one from the Honkai universe in Star Rail. The others are “Alternavie”

The thing that makes Lamemt of the Fallen so heartbreaking is the relationship between Kiana and Mei. Years ago in Nagazora where the cutscene takes place they went to school there and Mei tried to take her life but as she jumped Kiana reached out her hand and saved her. Afterwards whenever Mei tried to do kt Kiana beat the everloving hell outta her and after Meis Herrscher Powers ran out of control, isnwhen they met Himeko.
Mei hasnt seen Kiana since Sirrin tried to choke her out during Will of the Herrscher (Ch.7) and she finally caught a glimpse of her during Ch.14 but they got separated right again and they finally got together in Ch.16/17 but Mei couldnt recognize her best friend because Kiana was depressed and introverted and didnt wanna talk, while beforehand you it was basically impossible to separate her from Mei.
So when Mei caught wind of what Kiana plans to do, save the world while sacrificing herself, Mei tried to return the favor and beat the Shit out of Kiana, she didnt want to use her Herrscher Powers but as Kiana wouldnt back down and resorted to using her Void Powers, thats when Mei snapped.
Because Mei alied herself with World Serpent, the antagonists organisation, to find a way to save Kiana but Kiana trying to fall to tha Kaslanas Curse too would make her efforts to save her best friend for naught

did not expect the game i randomly play 7 years ago because frustated of twintania dive bomb from bahamut coil become my regular till now... and cry again and again every time i watch the animation.... so much feels...
The mechs are funny.
The mechs from the chapter about this are "implied" to be remotely controlled. Their leader was not in her suit. However we later learn (much later) that standard issue model of the mech actually has to be piloted by a person, and when you blow the mech up, sometimes it's murder and sometimes it's not. Because Herrscher Kiana is responsible for tens of thousands if not hundreds if not milions of deaths, would not really make that big of a difference either way, but we are led to believe those mechs were not manned.
But then in another chapter a guy fucks up bunch of mechs and finds out all his friends inside them so like, idk.
Well a lot probably has to do with assets being limitted it's probably differnt kinds of mech that is just represented by same model in-game.

Also a couple stuff to know, for "Final lesson" Kiana has like a evil persona and it took over her consciousness and Himeko....well she is Kiana's teacher/mentor she sacrificed herself and injected that serum on her nape to bring Kiana back to her senses
For "Lament of the Fallen", basically Kiana wants to sacrifice herself to save Earth but Mei doesn't her to do that so she resorts to beating the absolute crap outta her XD
"Because of you" alright so basically elf girl with pink hair (Her name is Elysia) and all the other characters you see are all in a group called the "Flame Chasers". All of them are actually clones made from data of their real self's, Most of them already died in real life 50,000 years ago only a few of them are still alive. That's why you see Elysia losing her body parts and why it was showing coding stuff like the 1's and 0's. They are in the "Elysian Realm" a place also made from data, the giant eyeball is the "Herrscher of corruption" it's trying to escape to reality to cause destruction in real life. The only way to get rid of the Herrscher of corruption is to destroy the Elysian Realm, at 1:20:05 it shows the different places of the Elysian Realm the flames burning it up is symbolically meaning that the Elysian Realm is now gone....which also means the clones of the Flame Chasers are now gone forever too 😭. The after credits shows the Flame chasers when they had a normal life when there wasn't chaos and destruction
Kevin is one of the Flame chasers, he's been alive for 50,000 years at this point he'll do anything to get rid of the Honkai even if it means the worst possible outcome for humanity that's why Kiana, Mei and, Bronya are trying to stop him on the moon. And yes, Kiana's journey along with Mei and Bronya has ended so your right about the story focusing on other characters
There is actually 1 more in Honkai series name "Honkai Gakuen 2" although the global server is already closed but the others servers still active and this is the craziest in term of story and power creep there are not much animation short like this but there are still some

I started from this game and ended up playing Genshin, I'd say that all that great story telling started from this and the game that resulted as Honkai Impact 3rd.

I would recommend watching Intro to the Honkaiverse. It's the first of the Chronicles videos. Oh! This isn't mihoyo first game. That honor goes to Fly Me 2 the Moon. It also marks the first appearance of Kiana as an MC.

A minor correction, Hoyo first ever game was Fly me 2 the moon. Honkai Impact 3rd actually their 4th game. But the 2nd successful game and the first high quality one.
In regard to star rail, the astal express grants linear access between all worlds including ones from differenct games such as genshin imact, and other realities, seele and bronya in star rail are alternate version from a different reality
Perhaps something helpful to know is the word “Honkai” means “collapse/decay”, so while the apocalyptic threats in Hi3 and Star Rail aren’t exactly the same, they function in the same way, slowly corroding worlds, societies being influenced and fighting back against their demise, so that’s what “Honkai” is referring to, and on Earth it’s what they call the force affecting their world, corrupting, corroding, creating Honkai beasts, zombies, plagues, and gods, like in the first video you see Kiana in the outfit that makes her easiest to recognize as the god at the beginning of Genshin, using her power over space to make portals

well basically starrail is an alternative universe , in hi3 they discuss multi-verses and alternative reality within the sea of quanta where both genshin and hsr are one of the many universes that resides in it. hi3 does delve into multiverse story-lines especially at chapter 14 (i think) and here and there as well like part 1.5 is about a universe that the world ended and some events like captainverse which you could say a prototype of star-rail.
hi3 itself isn't the original version and incarnations of these characters , prior to hi3 there's honkai gakuen where if starrail is heavily influenced by hi3 , hi3 is heavily influenced by gakuen.
there are things that are directly related to hi3 in starrail , like welt and loucha. it is unknown whether the train itself is hi3's cosmic juggernaut or just a variation of it from another universe.
and don't worry about copyrights for hi3 and starrail , for some odd reason only genshin is sensitive about it.

If you want the "band" of the music they are called Hoyo-mix. All of Hoyoverse's music from across all their games can be found in that channel.
The songs in particular for the animated videos are called Befall, Nightglow, Cyberangel, Starfall, Honkai World Diva, Rubia, Moon Halo, Oracle, IRAS 17514, Regression, TruE, Da Capo and ø². Sadly Befall is not on Spotify but the rest are all available to listen.
Fun fact, Honkai Impact 3rd has no option for English voice acting, but all their songs have english lyrics. The only exception is Honkai World Diva with Japanese lyrics because that song actually came from Honkai Impact 3rd's predecessor, Houkai Gakuen (aka Guns Girl Z) which was shut down last year, after 7 years.

Edit: I figured it out. I usually use youtube's download feature to watch videos at work, since the wifi signal is pretty spotty. And the downloaded version has the full regression in the video. But when I play the regular streamed version, it skips it. How strange.

also also i feel its needed to be said this game unlike star rail n genshin focuses on quality over quantity, so instead of new characters all the time its new battle suits which act like a new playstyle to a character that already exist but u get them like a seperate character
That's not really what quality over quantity means bud.
Honkai releases new content at about the same rate as genshin and star rail, doesn't matter that the new additions are specifically entirely new characters all the time, they're still seperate additions.
Quality over quantity would be like releasing new content at a larger time interval but in that time having the ability to make it the very best it can be. You're just describing narrative expansion.
nooo it is quality over quantity cuz we're seeing character progression in story and that character progression in the form of new playable forms rather then just more ppl who we have to see that development like in genshin(which i dont hate either but like..) star rails following impact 3rd a lil but not fully and genshins isnt at all so they focus more on quantity over quality as we arent having a set cast that have more play ability due to forms so there a end point for there game quality wen its characters cuz we wont get any new things for them@@Jo_youwhatmate
I don't know how much other people explained, but Honkai Impact 3rd takes place 15+ years before Honkai Star Rail. The stories are completely unrelated, aside from HI3rd's Welt being the same Welt that's in HSR. You don't really need to know much of HI3rd's story to play HSR, except for the parts concerning Welt's past.
Other characters that share names with people you know in HSR like Himeko, Seele, and Bronya are parallel world versions of them (not exactly accurate, but it's the best way to explain it without going into much detail). This is something that Hoyoverse does a lot in their games, since they all take place in the same universe. Even HSR already has two different Bronyas (Bronya herself and Silver Wolf).
As far as the story goes, "Honkai" is an entity that goes from planet to planet and attacks its civilizations. It can manifest as beasts, natural disasters, and super-powered entities known as Herrschers. For a HSR equivalent, think of "Honkai" as an Aeon and Herrschers as its Emanators. Part 1 of the story (which covers chapters 1 to 35) shows humanity's war against Honkai on Earth. That's already done. Part 2 is starting next year and will change its setting to Mars.

As a long time player, I'll put it this way. If you want to know story stuff, the game's story is essentially a visual novel, with short gameplay sections. (the first day or so it might force you to level up a bit to unlock story, but after the first few chapters, level and progression don't matter)
You could easily treat the game like a visual novel, and ignore the gameplay, once you get past the early "tutorial" sections. The gameplay is... dated, and clunky. I personally don't enjoy it that much anymore myself, and just stick with the game for the amazing story. Currently has 40 chapters (35 for "part one", the original story), tons of manga, and is ongoing, with a huge part two coming next year with gameplay overhaul.
Just thought I'd bring this up, in case you're at all interested. I do dailies because they take less than 5 minutes when you know what you're doing... but honestly, when playing for story, currencies don't really matter. The only iffy part of the story Elysian Realm, which requires playing a roguelite mode to unlock story, but if you really didnt want to, there's recaps you can find online.
There are actually three, technically _four_ , Honkai games live right now:
- Honkai Gakuen 2 / GunGirlZ (GGZ)
- Honkai Impact 3rd
- Honkai 4 / Genshin / Genshin Impact
- Honkai: Star Rail
So when you mention _Honkai_ , please be more specific. You could be talking about any of them.
BTW, there's a special item in _HSR_ exhibited in Herta Space Station. It has a special interaction with that game's Himeko.
Except for Welt Yang, all of the characters in _HSR_ based on _GGZ_ and _HI3_ characters are different versions of those characters, with the possible exception of Silver Wolf.

With the whole "the villains turn good, their powers get nerfed" thing, Hi3 is one of the exceptions. Herrschers are incredibly powerful, good or evil, but their attacks leave a kind of radiation that kills normal people. Good Herrschers can use all of their powers freely when there's not the risk of irradiating nearby people.

Considering star rail and HI3rd there are a lot of references but afaik Welt is the only confirmed one to have been wandering over from HI3rd world to HSR World and he is not playable although an important character in HI3rd.

@V2 Alright, so…first of all, I gotta tell ya, asking for explanations about what you’re watching in the comments is kind of a mistake because you’re essentially asking for multiple essays. What you have to understand is that you’re looking a mix of trailers and game cinematics that span the game’s six-to-seven-year history at this point, and that history is kinda *thick;* the story’s structured like a visual novel and all these events you’re looking at happen over a generous period of time. And that’s not even accounting for the event stories on the side. Despite what you said, you really should find time to play the game for yourself, or at least watch it on UA-cam, which I’m sure you could do at some point. Watching these and being told about it can never be an adequate substitute. But since you’ve asked, here’s what we could do; I have played the entire main story up to now , and unlike quite possibly most people you’ll ask, I actually recognize and appreciate it for what it is, so if you’d like, shoot me any questions you might have about what you’ve seen and we can go from there.
I got into Honkai Impact 3rd long after I started playing Genshin, so I’m fairly fresh into it. I gotta say, although some aspects are a little outdated, the story is absolutely amazing!! If the Genshin anime succeeds, I really hope they will make a Honkai Impact 3rd anime series too!
Honkai has a few different anime already, one is called cooking with Valkyrie. They are more on the chill side and could explain the relations between some characters.

If you want to know more about the world of honkai impact 3rd , you might want to check video of honkai chronicles , chronicle 1 is basic introduction to the world while the others are informations of characters before the game till certain part of the game .

hoyoverse likes reusing characters albeitwith somewhat different designs or slight name tweaks so there is a bronya in each star rail and genshin and honkai honkai tho the genshin is assumed at the moment but there is a in game reason for multiple versions of characters

Original is hard to say with Hi3 and other Mihoyo games.. all the VA are casted by mihoyo directly and while they are a chinese Company that doesnt mean that the chinese voice is what is best fitting mihoyos vision also languages inherently sound different so they might consciously try to focus on different aspects in different languages.

First, some things unrelated to the cutscenes, I am a veteran player of this game, a Captain as we are called, second, you shouldn't worry about copyright issues as there a ton of reaction videos to these and Mihoyo/Hoyoverse is ok with people reacting to their stuff, third, most of the characters are female, the only exceptions are Welt, Otto, Kevin, and the MC from A Post Honkai Odyssey, fourth, they do a lot of fanservice as they know their target audience, fifth, the music slaps and is produced by Hoyo Mix, it slaps so much that they have done three online concerts, Starlit Sonarant, Dreamy Euphony, and Forest Capriccio, mand finally, they are a little out of order. Now, on to my info on each video so for anyone playing the game, MAJOR SPOILER WARNING!
1. Will of the Herrscher: This was the first major cutscene in the game as we found out that the MC< Kiana Kaslana, was not who she is, she was an experiment, K-423 , created by Otto to be the vessel for the second Herrscher, Sirin and was created with the genes of Sirin and the real Kiana Kaslana(I'll say who that is later), and that is her girlfriend, Mei Raiden she's choking, the dragon at the end is her most loyal pet, Benares
2. Reburn: This is normally seen before Will of the Herrscher and it was the concept trailer for the game. The reason why Kiana kisses the nech is because in the manga Second Eruption, her father Siegfried pilots the same mech into space and the words, "Ich Liebe Dich" is German for "I Love You"
3. Cyberangel: This is the part of the story when Bronya becomes the new Herrscher of Reason. Fun fact, the song is sung by the Chinese VA for Bronya, Hanser and yes, Bronya and Seele are in Star Rail but like other characters, they're different
4. Final Lesson: This happens immediately after Will of the Herrscher and before Cyberangel. The redhead, Himeko, sacrifices herself to save Kiana by injecting her with the Spear of Destiny, which neutralizes the Honkai inside her. This is why the game is nicknamed Depression Impact
MISSING VIDEO: This is normally where the Chapter 11EX short is normally seen
5. Seele: This was the culmination of Bronya's story arc as she was trying to get Seele out of the Sea of Quanta, the "Other Seele" is named by Captains as "Veliona", in the Chinese version, when Seele is hanging onto the ledge, Veliona grabs her hand and says, "Do you want to die?"
6. Bronya Another concept idea, Bronya was orphaned and at the orphanage, she was triained by the one they called "Matuschka", Cocolia, trained her to be an assassin, and Bronya are not sisters
7. Meteoric Salvation: At this point, Kiana has learned to keep Sirin under control and she has to stop an organization, World Serpent, from detonating a Honkai bomb in a major city, I'm surprised you didn't acknowledge that she was using a baseball bat as that's the legendary weapon of the Kaslana family, the other characters you saw were Rita(my personal favorite hence why she's in my pro pic) and Mei, the song is Starfall and is sung by Tia Ray, the vial she's holding at the end is the empty vial that was injected into her by Himeko
MISSING VIDEO: Chapter 15 short, it shows two characters, Durandal and Kevin Kaslana, about to fight
8. Lament of the Fallen: Personally, my favorite. This was the last part of Mei's character development arc as she fully becomes the Herrscher of Thunder and joins World Serpent. The song, Honkai World Diva, sung by Mika Kobayashi, can be sung in English, the line "If rescuing you is a sin, I'll gladly become a sinner. Sayonara, Kiana-chan" is one of the saddest lines in the game as Mei had to leave her beloved to save her, her dragon, Kurikara, is a reborn Benares
9. Reawakening, this started the Fu Hua arc as that character fighting Durandal, Kevin, and Bronya, is a Fu Hua imp0oster and we learn later that she's a new Herrscher
10. Shattered Samsara: Kiana has exposed the Herscher of Sentience, Senti for short, and fights her, Fu Hua tries to seal her away but Kiana gets her back, the song, Rubia, is sung by a guy, Zhou Shen, Fu Hua is one of few survivors of what is called the Previous Era and it was 50.000 years ago
11. Cooking with Valkyries: an anime series they made after the Mei story arc, highly recommended
12. Everlasting Flames: Kiana, now fully in control of the vessel, fights the Herrscher of Domination. This has a lot of similarities with Final Lesson, Kiana has a different look after each crystal she gets leading up to her transformation int the Herrscher of Flamescion, the song, Moon Halo, is sung by a Hoyo Mix artist, the main lyricist, and Hanser
13. Pre-Revelation: This was a preview of the final part of the Otto story arc, the characters you didin't know were Theresa(the girl who flung a giant cross on her back) and Li Sushang(former student of Fu Hua), the fight between Mei and Durandal never happened for two reasons, 1. Mei was in another realm and 2. Durandal found out something about herself during this arc, the girl ha calls for is the woman he loved 500 years ago, Kallen Kaslana
14. Reburn 2: Yes, this was a concept trailer for Star Rail as the girl, Carole, was supposed to be the MC, it was shown after the first concert along with a preview for the second part of APHO
15. Thus Spoke Apocalypse: The end of Otto's story arc, it was during this arc that we finally learned who the real Kiana Kaslana was and it was Durandal. It starts with Kallen's execution and at the same time, Otto is fighting a bunch of his clones which becomes a giant monster, he uses a weapon known as a Divine Key called Void Archives and it can mimic other divine keys, the ones he uses are Judgment of Shamash, Water's Edge, Abyss Flower, and Oath of Judah, he creates a new timeline for Kallen but sacrifices himself in the process, the song is called Regression
16. Because of You: This is the final part of the Elysian Realm side story as the 13 Flamechasers, 13 warriors from the Previous Era, fight the Herrscher of Corruption, Elysia is the last one(I love her VA, Marina Inoue), she gets help from the others and they are in the order that they help her, Eden, Mobius, Kalpas, Vill-V, Aponia, Sakura, Pardofelis, Kosma, Su, Fu Hua, Griseo, and Kevin Kaslana, the song is called TruE, as they help her, she becomes the Herrscher of Human Ego, at one point, Elysia says what she said in the trailer for Elysian Realm which basically says that it begins and ends with Elysia
17. Final: This was the trailer for the final act of Part 1 where the final enemy is Kevin Kaslana
18. Graduation Trip: Everything we have done in the game has lead up to this point, Mei and Kiana go around as we see everyone from the game with it ending as Kiana helps her younger self
I hope this gives you an idea of how great this game is
To put it simply (and it's no simple concept), Honkai are existences of a higher order. Think of a giant tree in a massive sea, and the two at war, constantly trying to absorb the other. These are the Imaginary Tree and the Sea of Quanta. Bubble worlds grown on the Imaginary Tree, but they can also fall off, or be pruned by the Honkai. Once they fall into the Sea of Quanta, their energy is absorbed by it, until they disappear entirely. The Tree continues to absorb energy from the Sea in turn, creating new bubble worlds. You can think of the Honkai as the force that tests bubble worlds to see if they're strong enough for the Tree to keep supporting, and you can also see them as a will trying to bring other beings closer to the Imaginary. But for our purposes especially, they're trying to destroy humanity.
Honkai manifests as plagues, natural disasters, and Honkai Beasts that emanate an energy that can kill humans, turning some into Zombies. So humanity fights back. Honkai are often led by Herrschers (German for 'Sovereign)' who have dominion over a concept, making them more powerful than _Genshin_ 's Archons. The Herrschers are often awakened from humans who feel betrayed by the rest of humanity, or who simply hate humanity, to lead the other Honkai in destroying them -- and in the Previous Era 50,000 years ago, despite the civilization then being super-advanced, the Honkai won, although they did pass forward some knowledge and technology.
In the Current Era, three organizations fight the Honkai through different means: Schicksal, who use Valkyries; Anti-Entropy, who use Honkai-powered mechs (mostly unmanned), and World Serpent, who uses any means necessary and has the most PE technology. Valkyries also use Honkai energy, but if they use it too much they become corrupted by it, and either die or become corrupted into Honkai Beasts, Zombies, or Herrschers, and that's marked by red or purple lines on their bodies, which is called Honkai Cascade. Valkyries are taught to kill any comrades who they see are about to turn. Because Valkyries are treated as expendable this way, the North American branch of Schicksal rebelled and became Anti-Entropy.
Oh, and by the way, except for _Zenless Zone Zero_ , Mihoyo's games all take place on different bubble worlds. Naturally this means the possibility for crossovers exists. This also means that Honkai can manifest in any of them, but manifesting a bit differently. Like the fragments of elder gods in the prequel manga for _Genshin_ , or the Stellarons in _HSR_ . It sort of tracks, since Sustainer of Heavenly Principles in _Genshin_ is based on God Kiana or Herrscher of the Void, and has similar powers, and Cocolia's final form in _HSR_ looks like Herrscher of ice, and has a Herrscher of Rimestar attack.

They announced a couple of years back that all Mihoyo/ Hoyoverse games will be in the same Universe/ Multiverse, so don't see some characters from Genshin Impact in Honkai Impact the 3rd or like Honkai Impact the 3ed in Honkai Star Rails. The same would be said about Tears of Themis and Zenless Zone Zero. Any Official Hoyoverse trailer, shorts or animation will not be copyrighted. Its on their official page that they encourage content creators to stream their stuff.

Honkai Impact 3rd actually isn’t Hoyoverse’s first game; it’s their third. The first two were Fly Me to the Moon and Houkai Gaiden 2 (aka Guns Girl Z, or GGZ). Both games can be described as “alternate universe prequels” to HI3.
What sets HI3 apart is it was their first outright success, and was what set the stage for Genshin to be developed. While GGZ gained a strong cult following, it never had the same success as HI3, and you can’t even play it in the West anymore unless you jump through loopholes to get it and can read Chinese or Japanese (Western servers were shut down years ago).
You can describe their three main games as the following:
HI3: their “baby”
Genshin: their “golden egg”
HSR: their passion project (and it really shows with all of the cultural references in the game)
Impact was their fourth, not third.
Fly Me 2 The Moon was first, second was Zombiegirl Kawaii, then it was GGZ, next came Honkai Impact.
The "3rd" comes from Third Eruption, both in-game lore and the NGE reference.

Kiana is not the original Herrscher of the Void, thus at this time in the story doesn't have the ability to control the powers the same way that Sirin does. Sirin is the og HoV, and the one that is possessing Kiana. Kiana has the godlike powers because of Sirin's authority over them. But Sirin at this point in the story knows how to use them much better, and is way more powerful when she is in control. Also, when Himeko fought her, she was already severely nerfed. All of this is actually just Sirin's base form. Her Prime was way more powerful, easily able to destroy the planet and create planets of her own. She is a god.
41:14 No, she is not a villain and neither was Kiana. Sirin was the villain. This is Mei in her Herrscher of Thunder form. Herrschers excluding The Final Herrscher, are like the lesser gods of Hi3 lore. The reason Mei and Kiana are fighting is complicated. Honkai has a lot of moraly grey characters. There isn't a lot of black and white when it comes to most villains/antagonists in this story. I highly recommend watching the Honkai Chronicles videos for more context on lore for all of these animated shorts.

Honkai impact 3rd is not miHoYo's first ever game. They've been making games since 2012, even HI3rd is a 3rd game in a series. And Hoyoverse is just new brand name for miHoYo publising side in the west.
The music is all written in house by their own HoYo-mix studio and some external contractors(like most of english lyrics are done by TetraCalyx) in close talks with developers and animators and performed by various artists like Mika Kobayashi known for singing in Attack on Titan OST, Zhou Shen, Chalili, etc. Couple of the songs are even newer versions of the songs they written for their previous game Houkai Gakuen 2(which was Guns Girl Z in the west)
Similar characters you keep seeing in all miHoYo games are called expys. They've been using some of the same characters since 2012-2013 so they're well known and loved by community so it's basically free money to use them again in a new game. The lore reason for it is that all their games exist around an Imaginary Tree, it keeps creating same "souls" so they often have same themes or make similar decisions in life but exist in different circumstances so they're different person.
As Otto said "The world allows a mind to find another matching vessel, but does not allow a vessel to gather the pieces of a mind" or as Welt said "As you know, there are infinite worlds in this universe that can be similar yet different from each other in various ways. The same is true of the people on those worlds. That's why it's possible for us to run into individuals on multiple worlds who share an appearance, but not a personality... ...However... in most cases, their fates will walk a similar course." That's also why Fate, knowing your Fate and fighting against it are some of the biggest themes in miHoYo games
there are two games hoyoverse made before this one namely flyme2themoon but that doesn't really have a big story and can't be downloaded anymore and GGZ (also called Honkai Gakuen 2). global for that global is closed but CN and JP are still on going
