Started going there in the late 60's early 70's until they closed. What a great place to go as a kid.

Jack Cooke, the Bass player, was Hubert Cooke's (of the popular Gospel group The Singing Cookes) brother.

These old live shows are a joy to those (like myself) who are now just discovering them on youtube. Thank you so much for posting them. As a teenager in Panama City, Florida, around 1959, I used to watch a live TV show they did for (I think) Jim Walter Homes. I don't understand Mr. Dixon's comment on the banjo being out of tune. As a professional musician for over 50 years I don't detect it. Keep in mind, it is a live recording - the instruments being susceptible to atmospheric changes, etc., and a lot of early recording equipment didn't preserve or record every frequency - possibly making it sound out of tune. The Stanley Brothers had impeccable pitch, as evidenced in their tight harmony singing. All this being said, and in light of the importance of these live recordings, hardly an issue worth debating.

I made acouple visits to Sunset Park in the early 90's, just before it closed. Great hearing how it was back when the boys would come up-country to PA.

Stanley Brothers my favorite. Bill Napier was just an awesome musician too. Thanks for this upload. This is the one out of the Copper Creek Series I missed; I used to get these live shows on LP back when they first released them.
