Here through Paul, really enjoyed your tips and watched the entire video which is rare that I do so. Amazing knowledge and thanks for sharing it - will use it for my next vids!
Very usefull Rachel. I've recently started collaborating with a UK Folk duo and for whatever reason I've found that the render quality of their vocals requires me to add allot of processing and tricks in order for their vocals to sit properly in the mix. The project was starting to get a little chaotic and was running away from me if you know what I mean. What you've laid out here is great as it gives a clear plan to stick to. Cheers!
the Video i've been waiting from a long time .... Vocal techniques ....you're techniques are absolutely amazing Rachel .. this is really gonna help me out a lot
Hello Rachel, I saw you on Paul Davids video about looping and thought I would come by and say HI. I have also seen you on Mary Spenders channel. I saw the video she shot when she gifted you with that Apple Studio set up. WOW that was awesome. I know this is an old post so you may not read it but wanted you to know I think you are very talented and I admire your talent. I recently purchased an Arturia Mini Lab MK2 which came with a limited version of Ableton Live but I havent got a clue how to use it. I have trouble just trying to figure out garageband. But it is fun trying to learn. So thanks for all you do to help us noobies out here you are a true inspiration.o
Amazing and clever concepts here Rachel! Thank you... this video landed in front of me at just the right time! Also, I think you voice is just wonderful, blessed you are!
Hi RKC, I'm here after watching Paul's videos (love that man) and I'm looking forward to more instructive vocal production videos. I'm working on my first proper solo album and need all the help I can get.
I love this colourful use of language and subtle effects thrown in there. These überdimensional perspectives would've been lost on me when I was consuming content mindlessly. It's the interesting layer of the pie that makes it ... supahsweet
So encouraging, whilst also reminding me that I do now have the tools that I need and more as a singer/producer! Seeing all the tracks, the f/x and doing some techniques already like this, but i can see some more practice and experience, and better 'story telling', in fact, I think the story telling in vocals is most definitely the best/most important piece of advice to take away :) Thank you so much Rachel!
Hi Rachel I come to your youtube channel because I follow Paul David's. You've done a really good job with SUGAR COATED. It is now on my Spotify playlist. Now I also follow you on youtube. Regards Michal from Denmark
Rachel if you would, when you heard the track how did words come to you. This is not your normal poppy type song one would produce over two weeks. As you said you are telling a story but,,,,, I mean come-on this is a really deep emotional story. "I dare you now to say more then your suggesting don't kid yourself its not me that your protecting" Where did that come from? My gosh I heard that, it haunts me. I am a guitarist, watching pual put the production together - well, I get that straight away. Then you "just" drop this story into it!? Needless to say you captured me, not in a freaky kind of stalker way no. On that plane of existence that transcends the clunky awkwardness of relationship. The lyrics hammer home an unmistakable emotional connection. I suspect it goes without saying from me anyway, "nice work"!
You're an excellent teacher! Thank you so much for the tutorial! I have a question: with all these plugins (that look expensive!), how do you share Ableton files back and forth with Paul? Does he have all the same plugins so it's not a problem? When I've downloaded others' Ableton files they more often than not use plugins I don't have. :(
Excellent indeed ! i have just tried the tremolo on a vocal in my chorus with full depth set to sync works really well . thank you Rachel your music is really good 10/10 😁
Wow! 🤯 The combined talent between the two of you is immeasurable!!!🔥🔥🔥you guys should do a full length album! Every time I watch one of your videos I’m mind blown by greatness!!! 👏 so awesome! 🤘
so interesting Rachel, you are very very talented. .......it amazes me where you get the motivation from when looking at the "interfaces" of these tools and screens.... ................O____o............. ? anyhow Rachel, you are very very skilled indeed......... Oh, and............it "sounds" fantastic regardless of the expense of the equipment involved. You make excellent video tutorials. There isn't anybody who can't understand these videos. Your videos do not seem to skip over any points. Also, you provide the absolute proof of "listening back" to hear what's being achieved. Very good. Rachel, the sky is the limit for a talented person such as yourself. Many respects to you , and your dedication to your craft. Remarkable. Do you enjoy other tools such as "Hit'n'mix infinity deep audio editor"?. Best wishes V.
super thorough , as Always,,SO appreciate you taking time to break things down the way you do,, -- thank you.. that pro q3 i'm just now demo-ing,, gotta do it,,
Great video, you’re such a wonderful teacher!!! I’ve just bought Ableton 11 and i’m a total beginner... i wish i have you as a teacher for that. Thanks for sharing your tips!!
That kind of wizardly we often see on indie internet productions makes me admire singers like Sheryl Crow even more. They sounds cool even in an old amp tube. Wonderful tips, though.
Hey Rachel! Did you study Music production? Or how did you end up in this awesome place n job? just another girl on the other side of the island trying to understand how to end up like u ! XXX loving your style n all
Hi Rachel, I am really enjoying your videos and absolutely love your music. You have inspired me so much as a female producer. I thank you so much for this video and I would love to see a more detailed tutorial of the plugins you use if you ever have time to go through that too. Appreciate you and love your music. L
5:23 I cried inside. Just knowing how much i don't know. I thought all you did (or any Vocalist did.) was sing. (Maybe a few effects etc) BUT..WOW, the work YOU DO, and TALENT you have, i'm embarrassed to even say i make music now :( (Worse still, im producing a song for someone.)
Brilliant video. I have a Prophet Rev2 much like yours, and am overwhelmed with it's capabilities. Would you ever do a video on your workflow with that synth in particular?

Paul is great
This is great really helped me a lot, really bringing together everything I've learned for vocals!
Incredible! It's amazing how many layers and how full the vocals sound.
Amazing song. Top notch vocals and arrangement and production. It sounds current (modern) without sounding like bad over processed vocals.
Super great tips, thank you Rachel!!
Thanks for putting this together! Great tips Rachel!

Cool vibes! Great free alternative for Fabfilter Pro Q3 is TDR Nova. Limited to 4 bands, but does the job perfectly!
nice track! Super chill. Now you make me want to have fabfilter..
I'm getting the FabFilter Mastering suit, eventualy.
If this doesn’t get used for the end credits of a Hollywood movie, it would be an injustice. 👍
This came out nice. Now it needs a music video. 🙂 Pew! Pew!
Sooo goood ✨
Thanks for sharing your talent. Very nice. 🙏❤️🎨🌎🎼🎸🥁🎹🎤🎉
