  • Took the Z1000 naked out for a ride on the Kawasaki Roadshow 2017, only had it for about 15 minutes.
    This is just my initial impressions, not a review of the bike.
    Noticed a couple of spelling mistakes after the upload, but not going to upload a new one, just bare with me on those, I do a spellcheck next time :)

    The Z1000 naked is geared different than the ZX10, that's why she's so snappy in the throttle. The stiffness in the up shift happens when you try to put it in a higher gear you're moving to slow for in a low rpm.

    it's not a ride by wire like the BMW , it's a cable connection without electronic filters ... you are just doing some command "mistakes" with the throttle I think.

    I also tried this bike when the motorshow was in Drammen, 20-30 minutes away from Oslo(which is close to where I stay). I loved the bike, maybe easier for you to compare it with another naked bike since you own a s1000r. I dont own a naked bike, but I liked the z1000 as well as the gsx 1000s :) nice video btw!

      Thanks.
      It's a good bike, and someone looking for a naked this is absolutely a bike to consider. But yes, I am comparing it to one of the top super nakeds, so not really a fair comparison, but just to point out what I normally ride to sort of give people an idea why I said what I said about it.

      850bimmer Yeah, I have actually not tried s1000r, thats next on the list to try most definitely! I also asked the question if the 2017 z1000 had a qs, thought it did, but no. But s1000r has it all, do you have a video of your bike?

    • @850bimmer
      @850bimmer  7 років тому

      The S1000R does have two packages, my bike, a -14, has both.
      Sport: has the QS, some extra riding modes and cruise control
      Comfort: has DDC dampers, heated grips and LED indicators.
      The -17 model came with a few new thing up/down QS, ABS pro (lean angle dependent), and some additional track features like a pit limiter and launch control.
      There is a walk around of my bike on my channel, I plan to do a long term owners review on it soon, maybe next week.

      Yeah, was quite busy, I wanted to try the new Z900, apparently a better bike than the Z1000. But I got tired of waiting. Maybe next year :)

    nice video mate. where are you from? cant place your accent at all

    • @850bimmer
      @850bimmer  7 років тому +2

      That's a very recurring question for me :)
      I am Norwegian, but somehow I don't have the typical Scandinavian accent.
      Honestly I have only been once to the UK in my life, and that was Aberdeen, Scotland.
      Can't explain it, but I usually come off British, but I adapt depending on who I talk to. Been told I sound like someone from the midlands/Birmingham, who has lived in London for a while.
      Thing is, when I talk to Americans I put on an American accent, so it really depends.
      Can't explain it :)

    You hurt your toes shifting gears???A decent mid range?? It's exactly the same as your Beemer and it's an epic arm pulling monster......Jerky throttle, well .........maybe jerky rider"Could be me, could be the bike"..........trust me, It's you!The bike is amazing and $9000 AU cheaper than your seat warmed electronic ugly German S100R.SUGOMI.

    • @pengasus

      Sorry for a late reply.
      This was a demo bike, as part of a national tour. I have no idea how it's been ridden, or how it's been serviced before I rode it.
      It could be due for an oil change, the chain tension could have been off which would cause the shifting issue and the jerky throttle. Not something I thought about when riding the bike, but looking back on it that may be a reason.
      My S1000R is not like that at all, but when the chain gets slack it kind of get the same tendencies as this bike, but not as bad.
      So it could have been this particular bike having had a hard life as a demo, and perhaps not a very good service record that made it behave like this.
      Totally agree that it's a very good bike.

      I have been riding my 2016 z1000 for about 8 months and it's so my favorite motorcycle to date. Very underrated machine.
