You can give a look in internet videos after John Paul II's death or in the church's own documents issued in 2005 . 1. 00:08 Destruction of the papal seal by the Camerlengo, in the presence of cardinals as witnesses 2. 01:02 Sealing of papal apartments by the Camerlengo. 3. 1:15 Procession with the pope's body in open display through Saint Peter's Square. 4. The "preferiti", actually called "papabile" are also well known within the college of cardinals, e.g. Eugenio Pacelli (Pius XII), Giovanni Battista Montini (Paul VI), and Joseph Ratzinger (Benedict XVI) were all papabile. I agree that some parts are embellished for cinematographic purposes, but to call all a lie or ridiculous is incorrect on your part. I understand you may be a catholic and wished thing were different, less pompous. Yet, it is the way it is!
