I recently became the proud owner of a 1955 Super in 12 ga. I never thought i would ever get to own a Superposed. This has been a dream come true for me. Now to just find the right 20 ga. Superposed. Thank you Roger and Virginia.

Aloha James, Congratulations on your find and good luck with your hunt -- there are many 20 gauge Superposeds out there and in many different grades. Thank you for your comment.

I have my grandfather's Browning Superposed. It has a serial number of 11989. It is a twelve guage shotgun.

Thanks, I just picked up a 1964 Lightning with 30" barrels and it had quickly become my pride and joy.

Nice acquisition, it should just increase in value while you are appreciating owning it.

I got lucky and picked up a pristine 1953 20 gauge Superposed Lightning. Love the shorter LOP and the shorter barrel, which fits me much better. This beauty joins my father's 1952 A-5 "Sweet Sixteen."

      Hi Jayne,
Thank you for commenting. That pair sounds like they would be the stars in anyone's gun cabinet. I bet they really look cool together.

      Hi Martin,
Thank you for your review, I'm sorry to get back to you so late, but we had some malware interjected into the site and we had to pull it down and clean it up. I do have some new videos coming out shortly.

Having had a Japanese made Browning 325 which worked faultlessly for 20 years, I decided to buy a new Belgian built Browning. This model is a B25 grade B2g 12 bore 30 inch barrelled sporting gun which I had customer fitted to my specification. It's a lovely gun which shoots really well

Paul, thank you for your testament. I believe you have discovered why that gun became so popular and has continued to earn its reputation. It is truly a John Moses Browning design, and like most of his designs, they are lasting in mechanical quality.

That is a 1968 new model skeet. Receiver may have been struck in 1966 but that’s a 1968 or later completed Gun.

Did you put the recoil pad on it?? That could really hurt the value. It is a beautiful gun.

The twenty gauge Diana was usually offered with the butt plate. It could be ordered with the recoil pad and this one is not only a factory pad, but also it was installed at the time the gun was made and finished. Thank you for your comment.

And by the way, I sold the gun for full value.

Browning produced deep-cut hand-engraved Grade Five Citori at Muruku factories in Japan in the early eighties that are not that different from the Superposé made at Fabrique Nationale. However, the prices are not at all in the same range. The classic superposed Brownings Diana and Midas produced at FN are undoubtedly very valuable, but there is quite a bit of conservatism in valuating the early high grade Citori much lower. I feel I was well-advised in buying a Grade Five 1981 Citori 12-gauge in near-perfect condition at $3,000 Canadian on the open market. When compared with your delicate 20 gauge Diana, it looks like a big brother of the same family. Some very knowledgeable writers (see The Double Gun Journal, Autumn 2008) agree that the era between the start of hand-production of Citori in Japan and the start of machine-production a few years later gave high-quality guns that are very underrated in America. Would you care to comment, Mr. Rule? --- By the way, superb video!

Jean, thank you for your comment and your compliment for my video. In answer to your question, I am sure you have been given good advice. From my own experience I have not looked specifically into the Grade Five Citoris of the '80s, but I know many of the shotguns made in Japan , especially in the '80s, are great value -- best craftsmanship for an under-appreciated market.

How do you find out the date of production on these? The model I have has a name plate w initials embedded into it also. Are there any sources out there to get any info on this.

The Blue Book of Gun Values has a section in the back entitled Serialization and Browning firearms are listed.
