Chopin. Valse op 64 No. 1 Valentina Lisitsa "Minute Waltz"

- Please, pleeeeease , don't succumb to a common mistake of thinking of it as "An-under-minute-waltz". It would be called a "Bumblebee waltz" then.! No, the title of the piece means a delicate, petite, small-sized , exquisite -- like a piece of a sparkling jewelry - think of the expression "in minute detail". That' s the meaning.
Incidentally it is called "Valse du petit chien", "A little doggie waltz" in French. How it happened? Actually a friend of Chopin's and his biographer cited a little playful puppy running rounds trying to catch its tail - as an inspiration for this piece. Whatever :-)
This is faster than my internet connection
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hahahahhahahaa
Idiot this is a stolen comment
Hahahha😂✌
For me, it's more like 20 minute waltz
xD
+Dylan Ngo Yep. I can get this done in about 2 mins. D:
hahahahha!! you are funny ~
For me it would be at least 45
Because of the key signature! Hahahaha
I love how she added that extra C-sharp note in the end, it sounds so delicate
It was actually a D-flat.
I noticed that too. I liked it so much i started playing it that way me too :)
@@drtee51 its actually a "b double sharp" get your theory right...
@@AndreasNilsson96 oops! Sorry!
@@AndreasNilsson96 nah, it’s more like a f quadsharp to be exact
Astonishing blend of speed and articulacy. As fast as this is played, she still maintains the integrity of each note. Perfect clarity. I love it!!!
I play this piece since 1985, when I was 15. After 30 years, I still can´t play it with 1% of the talent, perfection and taste of this marvelous woman.
Who are you to call me a retarded?
a kind o genius if i trust you ^^if in 15 years you can't play it well well you have some problems^^ peace man
+Jean Jaurès LMFAO
+Gustavo Weckesser If you cannot play this piece after 30 years than you require serious medical help.
+Ako Tai If you cannot read and UNDERSTAND the simple text that I wrote then who needs medical help? Who said that I can't play it at all? I just compared both skills: Mine is not 1% as good as her's!!! Read well first!!!
i just got through practicing on my piano. now i watch this and realize how shitty my piano sounds
+slap chop Yup... Same here.
+Eric Che I'm learning piano something about 7 years and still can't play it.
lol
my father have a steinway upright which i use practicing. both are pretty nice :)
+slap chop Same to me :((((((
Her finger playing is very relaxing to look at it shows how relaxed she is.
Her pace with this piece is perfect
+James Sudimak I thought the beginning was a bit too fast for my liking
+Samson Zhang this Is no .1 u want no.2
I doubt Chopin intended any of his compositions to be played in allocated time periods. Amusing that some still think of this as a "can you play it in 60 seconds?" affair!
haha
Description
Yes, set the video speed to 2x, there you have your 1 minute haha!
felpel 102 lol so true
it means minute as in small but people pronounce it wrong and now it is more common to hear minute as in 60 seconds
"NOT QUITE MY TEMPO"
*THROWS PIANO BENCH*
"START COUNTING!"
You know what happens after this :)
+lhevinne Josef I think she's too rushing in the beginning
HAHA whiplash is awesome
That's how no.1 is plaued
+lhevinne Josef played
+Guadalupe Lozada No it's not stop telling everyone that.. If you want one on the right tempo go listen to Rubinstein
Her way of playing always makes me feel so calming & relaxing, even with pieces like the “Moonlight sonata 3rd movement”
Man, I wish UA-cam were around 20 years ago! I played this piece but had no real idea how it should properly sound, plus I'm not a good enough pianist to figure it out. Beautifully played! Thank you so much!
This is where interpretations comes in. :)
don't let your limiting beliefs stop you now! there is no yesterday or tomorrow but you have today
My girls are learning piano now, so I've taken the opportunity to collect all my old piano books (My parents brought them to me from their house in Canada on a visit!) and I've been seeing if I can still play some of the (simpler!) songs I used to play! In some ways it's much easier now, but I've lost a lot of practice time over the years.
UA-cam has been around since 2005...
soo...
._.
@@mambooooooo917 he said 20 years ago. It is currently 2019, 2019 minus 20=1999 lol
J'adore Valentina!
She plays this so emotively yet at a perfectly fast tempo. Bravo
One of the best performance of the Minute Waltz on UA-cam! Tempo is perfect and the sound and dynamics are just extraordinary! I love it!
Awesome!!! Valentina plays this with such ease and Heart! Tough piece for any musician especially in 5 flats!!!! A true World Class Artist at her finest!!!!
i personally think she is one of the best pianists currently.
Piękno muzyki Fryderyka Chopina to fenomen graniczący z cudem. Chopin to najpiękniejsza spuścizna dla ludzkości. ♥️
Superb! I always enjoy the utter eloquence of your hand movements Valentina, shear poetry in motion:)
Beautifully played, as usual!
As a child, I used to listen to this, imagining a ballerina dancing onstage. I suppose the little dog imagery works, too!
A melody by a Genius, executed by an angel whose hands are flying over the keys of the piano. I love Valentina.
Chopin was a genius.
By the way, I'm impressed with her technique. Sounds amazing!
Thank you, Valentina, for the good you're doing with your videos. We cannot thank enough you and UA-cam for them. God bless!
she literally glided off the keys... wonderful! so beautiful
SHE TAKES HER TIME! Making the middle so beautiful, elegant, and tranquil. Obviously the beginning and end are played furiously fast!!!
When I hear you play it’s like I’m in heaven, your playing is so smooth and light! Can’t wait to see you play live!
The best chopin pianist for me
I have watched many videos, and this one was the best. I expected not much, and got an ear full of the best thing I have ever heard.
Siempre amé este vals de Chopin desde que lo escuché en mi adolescencia. Fue una de sus primeas piezas que me permitió llegar a él y a su música tan única e incomparable.
This is by far my favorite rendition so far. Amazing!
How absolutely wonderful and what a compliment to Chopin ! 😊
she jumpes all over the places to express her self.....i knew it she is amazing...
I have not heard this piece played more delicately than this, truly a wonderful and inspiring performance
Excellent, performed beautifully.
This is one of my all time favorite pieces of shorter music. And I love your rendition! Bravo Valentina!
The way she play, the timing is how i visualize in my head i love it
La amo, la mejor pianista para mi ❤️
Bravo! Excellent performance. I enjoyed this very much!
I love the lighted-hearted exuberance and playfulness of this interpretation. Listening to it is like watching butterflies skim across a field.
Glorious. The articulation is so stunning. What unbelievable skill.
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH. Chopin is so dreamy
For all the people saying the tempo was too fast, pianists around the world attempt the play the song as fast as possible and some experts even say that there's no wrong tempo for this, that the song sounds good on various speeds.
Some pianists practice to attempt to play this song in one minute (the "minute" is the song title is a misinterpretation of the song nickname "mini" because it's a really short waltz, not because it's meant to be played in one minute, but that hasn't stopped people from trying). For playing the song in one minute, it would have to be played at almost 420 quarter notes per minute.
One of the virtuosos who managed to do this was Liberace, who even took the liberties of cutting the pauses and playing it in 37 seconds.
Valentina, you are gift to this world! A beauitful gift in every way! Such pianism and sound!
...each and everytime i take a special ticket for a "voyage" of 1 min 48 sec out of this body, into the interstellar... Thank You Madame Valentina Lisitsa !
I enjoy your music. No pretending and strong fingers. Beautiful thanks
Cheers from South Africa

The Only Pianist That Able To Play This Piece In 1 Minute
I didn't time it but the video is1:49 - nearer two minutes than one!

A good legacy from Mr Chopin
Very beautiful music.
Wow, Valentina! This is truly amazing!
Wonderful! Virtuosity with precision!
I love your performances!!!
I much preferred this to any other version of the waltz I heard - amazing!
Wow. At first it seemed impossible to play the waltz at such an incredible speed, but after I started to play it I noticed that the notes flows in the hands very well. Now I'm aiming to perfect it and carry out the beauty in this piece as Valentina had done.
Muchas gracias por compartir tu arte. Bravísima!!!!
Grande Valentina!! Dio ti benedica! Grazie.

Melodia incrivelmente linda!
Valentina es etérea, sublime! un placer escucharla!!
Semplicemente meravigliosa e straordinaria.
fantastic as always
The little dog waltz! The grace notes in the middle imitate the bell it wore around its neck.
Thank you for your explanation and outstanding playing.
Wonderful insight into possible origins of this world-famous piece. A gem of a waltz, played with great feeling.
How beautiful !!!
Bravo, i love this waltz beyond any other, and you express it as good as Borge did.
I don't know why but her playing makes me very happy :)
Thank you so much Frederic...
I think the most musical rendition I've ever heard
