Just hearing this live take of the song. You cannot deny the hypnotic power of the guitars in the second half of the studio version, or this live version !
Deerhunter will always be one of my favorite bands. They are so fucking amazing to see live. I adore Bradford Cox! And Moses is such a bad ass drummer. I rock out like I’m in seizures when I see them live, well at least to their more faster songs. The slower songs I swear they make you melt and the hairs on your arms just stand up. The vibrations Deerhunter put out while seeing them in unreal.

He's got a lot of nice ones, I saw him with a Vox Phantom around 2009... I'm glad he doesn't use ALL of them on every show though... when I saw Kevin Shields with MBV, he had close to a dozen on stage with him, and a guy to bring him a new one every song. That's kind of excessive... I can understand wanting 2, MAYBE 3 for a show. Factor in multiple pickups and multi-effects pedal and you can get a galaxy of sounds without $50,000 worth of gear...
Telequacker kevin shields uses just about a dozen tubings during the show which pretty decently justifies his live set up, he goes into really interesting detail about it in a 2 part interview with Fender. also multieffects never quite sound as good as individual specialized pedals imo
I love it how Bradford is still tuning his guitar with the opening chords, and the expression on his face is as relaxed as it could be. Genuinely in the moment!
not to be hyperbolic, but this song made me cry. from my own experience with drug addiction and feeling like i was on deaths door this song really hits home to me.
Yesss, I think this is the best live version of this song out there (especially if you're applying a better living through chemistry ethos to your headphones at the time, lol) and I think I've heard/seen them all. Found them in 2009-10 and haven't stopped listening since then nor will I ever. Amen.
@@ambientexpanse Helicopter at Pitchfork 2011 is the gold standard (especially from the 4:05 mark on) but this performance is close. ua-cam.com/video/akS3_NYUw-g/v-deo.html
Amazing performance. Speechless with He would have laughed. Cannot describe how much this band thrills me and specially Bradford's vocals. He communicates his feelings so powerful at least for me.
surprised to see so few comments about He Would Have Laughed....... the whole set was amazing but that finale really stood out to me.. just incredible.
Gotta admit I hadn't watched it all the way through, I was just listening to the new songs. It was really damn good! it's been almost 10 years since Jay died and that song still hurts.
Deerhunter has always held a special place with me, their music isn’t over the top good, it never has been but there are these bits of blissful moments and surreal qualities and I wouldn’t say it’s bland but off kilter style is not something everybody clicks with immediately. Somehow or other Bradford Cox and even Lockett Pundt have some kind of strange legacy that I’ll always enjoy their albums
It turned out to be one of their best, even though some idiot critics will disagree. I love it more than ever. I will always love this band. Fuck the naysayers, they can all go suck a bag of donkey ding dongs.
I think the song called detournement was not planned on their original set list! If we look closely, as soon as the performance started, Josh's 3rd string was cut off. Bradford seems to have suggested a new song on the spot, seeing josh in trouble. Bradford was so natural that no one noticed.
Easily the most anticipated album of the year. "What Happens To People" is gonna be unreal and "No One is Sleeping" is also killer. All of the new songs are fantastic. God I hope this comes out in October.
Best version of Take Care EVER!!! It truly feeds my soul. I've seen them live at least 5 times, from FYF Fest in L.A. to an open air back yard vibe at Pappy and Harriet's to them opening for Interpol, all amazing!!!! Since becoming a fan early in the 2010's, I still cant get enough of this band. ♥
"agoraphobia" leads into "detournement". and then later "futurism" leads into "what happened to people" which goes into "death in midsummer" right after. thanks for the upload!
Archuletta is one of the best drummers I’ve ever seen play live, the drumming isn’t super technical but it looks so effortless and smooth and I’ve never heard it translated poorly live…if anything it sounds better.
Glad to see Brad back on guitar! Not sure what was up but there were a number of shows where the drummer from locus plaza played the majority of his parts.

I can’t fucking believe this, an actual full length well recorded Deerhunter concert on UA-cam?!!
I feel blessed
Cover Me Slowly/Agoraphobia is legit one of the best album openers I've ever heard, what a fucking great way to start.
I love the fact that he tuned the guitar in the beginning, it adds so much character to the song.
rare to finds bands where their live shows transcends their records.
this is so true.
One of the most soothing and criminally underrated shoegaze band of the decade
They're one of the most acclaimed indie bands of the decade bro. They're not underrated tbh.
Some guy on UA-cam told me shoegaze doesn’t exist. I still love that noise rock psychedelic hypnotic quality of a lot of their work

Most underappreciated band of the last decade!!
Seriously, they were on such a seemingly huge trajectory in 2008. Yet people decided to listen to the black keys, band of horses and the XX 🤷♂️
"Desire Lines" is easily one of the best songs of the 2010s.
my band did few covers, but Desire Lines was one
