Hi Sam, I’ve taught myself over the years and have accustomed to not having any offset. I’m obviously doing it wrong, can you tell me what I’m missing out on in? I’m presuming efficiency, I really find it hard to change?
Hi John, you're right, I no longer use this method. In fact, I recently made an updated video discussing my ideas for sizing paddles (for long distance racing). ua-cam.com/video/xGyX3AcGRBc/v-deo.html I'm still refining this method (and learning new ones) so I'd love to hear how you think paddle length is best calculated. Cheers, Sam.
@@Canterburykayaking I watched your second video. Seems like a good way to go about finding proper length. I'm a long-distance paddler and I'm pretty locked in at 212 with a stellar mid wing. I think if I were doing shorter sprints I would go with 210 or less. Just gripping my paddle the way I have it set up now matches up roughly with your numbers. It was very interesting how you came up with that formula. Cheers
He said women (as in women in general) and men starting. Then he says the MS2 suitable for men getting started but does not mention women. He's just sexist but doesn't realize it.
A most informative video Sam. Ignore the small minded comments from knob jockeys who are trying to be 'really important'.

The finger over the paddle is completely incorrect.

It would be much better if you dropped the sexist comments about women needing smaller paddles
Why is that sexist? He said "Women, Men starting out and for paddlers who aren't strong."

Women are generally not as strong as men. That’s not sexist, that’s just reality.
